My only problem was the instructions to assemble it are all wrong .. I called the factory in California and on the spot they made me a short video and emailed it to me.. it is so simple to assemble with only two steps besides connecting the computer which is equally simple... it is more than I hoped for and I am very pleased with it..

So Far, Not so Good

My brother-in-law helped me pick up the treadmill from the local store and set it up according to the instructions. So far, the motor is dead. He is calling customer service today to follow-up on an error message on the console. I am hoping the problem can be solved. So far, the experience has been extremely disappointing since the product description is perfect for my needs and it fits in the space where I need to put it. If we get it to work without too much hassle, I will submit a more favorable review. I am a discplined walker (3-5 times per week). Obviously, I have not been able to use the equipment at all because it was DOA. Others who are looking to buy a treadmill would want to avoid this frustration.

The 440XL performs as advertised.

Use this in my home office, to get walking exercise in between jobs. You can get blood clots if you sit in an office all day and don't get some exercise every hour - and the 440XL makes it easy. Easy to use, so quiet you can barely hear it, gives a start countdown, slows down slowly when you turn it off. Even has a pulse monitor so you can measure your heart rate while exercising. It's everything I wanted it to be. And Customer Service is great to work with. This treadmill had a plastic chip ott the top of one of the side rails. I E-mailed Customer Service, outlined the problem and received a very prompt reply saying they have shipped a replacement part, along with the tracking number. That's excellent service. Very happy with my purchase.

Verified Purchase

works great.

I have been using it for only a couple of weeks now but it is exactly what I needed and works well. I like the wide deck and the long handle bars. Easy to put together. Only thing I disapprove of is the digital display does not light up but I can read it clearly in the daylight or with light on. I like to watch TV with the light off while walking.

Won't power on

I have had my treadmill about 3 weeks now, walked about 5 days a week. I loved it but then I noticed the buttons sticking and having a hard time getting the reset button to work. Last night I went to get on it and I can't get the power to come on at all, the speed button's are stuck in. If you power the treadmill off and back on again the screen beeps, but it won't power on after that. Really disappointed. I saved a while for this.

sturdy powerful easy to use & assemble

My delivery by Fed -Ex was great...I missed them the first time @ 8;30 am ..I called ..they came back @ 3pm ...The threadmill was easy to assemble and the motor is strong...I can easily jog with it if I so desired...safety features are a plus for 61 year old with bad back like me. With out question I would recommend this product As far as the Delivery Fed -Ex in my area is wonderful, very helpful......timely, and arrived in perfect condition.....Wal-mart has been a pleasure to work with.

so far .. so good.

1. delivery - fedex, went surprisingly well this time around. box arrived on time and in good shape even though it was left on my porch while i was away. (not like anyone could walk off with it... it weighs almost 200 lbs!) 2. assembly - easier than most treadmills as it came pretty much assembled. the two hardest parts were getting it out of the box and hooking up the computer console. 2 average adults can get it up and working in about 40 minutes with little frustration. 3. build - so far seems incredibly solid with the computer being the only plastic-y piece. i had to shim one of the legs as it is on a tile floor but no big deal there. 4. functionality - it has what i wanted. i can walk on it, see how far / long i walked. the heart rate monitor is a little off but i didnt buy it for that feature. i am 6 ft tall with a 32 inch leg. i can comfortably use the handlebar if i grip it closer to the rear of the machine and not on the pulse sensor. using the pulse sensor is slightly awkward as i have to stoop a little but it is do-able. anyone over 6ft tall will have troubles using the safety bars without discomfort. the tread length is 40 inches. i can walk easily on it from a slow walk to about 2.5 mph without my feet coming near the end of the tread. when i walk my fastest comfortable walk of 3mph, my stride takes my foot all the way to the end of the tread. . . any faster and it would fall off. this was expected as this is a walking treadmill not a running one. the motor so far seems like it can do the job. i weigh 270 lbs and it only seems a little sluggish at very slow speeds , like when you first get it moving. once i am up to about 1 mph it's fine. my only complaint is that the manual is not written very well. the machine however is super easy to use and assemble. overall i am pleased with it... so far. the only reason it doesnt get 5 stars is because the tread is about 6 inches too short in my opinion.

Not a good product

I purchased the Exerpeutic TF1000 Super heavy Duty Walking Treadmill from Walmart; it ceased to operate after only 36 days. The owner's manual directs the customer to contact Paradigm Health & Welliness (sic) Customer Service for defective products. Surprise! This firm does not have anyone human answering its telephones; there is only a recorded message directing the customer to order parts. After a week, someone finally returned my call only to offer to send a video guide on how to operate not to fix!. The 440XL went back to Walmart. For anyone considering purchasing this machine , here are a few points to consider; 1 While the structural frame is adequate, the wiring is abysmal. The electronics deck – called “Computer” – has taped up wiring hanging out all over the exterior. 2 The handle bars – which rotate for storage – have exposed wiring running through the support frame hinge contact – which is a recipe for wire chaffing. 3 This product lasted 36 days never running faster than 1.8 mph for 45 minutes per day. 4 Forget getting any technical support; you will not get any help from the “Happy Health & Welliness (sic)” boys! Kudos to Walmart for making it simple and friendly to return this defective item!

Great Buy

I purchased this treadmill 2 months ago and use it every other day. It was simple to set up and is very solid. (I'm heavy and it handles my weight easily). I find that the wide belt makes a big difference in how comfortable this treadmill is to use. No regrets here - I would highly recommend it.

Great for Heavy Individuals

This was my 1st treadmill purchase. I selected this treadmill because of the 400 pound weight limit (I weigh 295), price, the width of the belt, and the reviews of others (thanks everyone!) It is just what I was hoping for. There is no drag due to my weight, the belt is wide enough to accommodate my size, and as an added bonus for me if I need to briefly stop walking the timer pauses, start walking again and the timer resumes. Due to the weight of the machine, I did need help assembling it. However, once assembled it is easy for me to fold and move on my own. I did opt for the 'ship to store' option due to the reviews indicating the item being damaged when shipped directly to the buyer.
