Great security camera systems. Easy setup and very clear pictures. Night vision is very good. Thought it took me a little bit time to figure out the IP address and the port forwarding in my routers. Happy with my purchurses. In fact, my buddy ordered one soon after.
Excellent bang for the buck
The value for the price is hard to beat. The 960H is one notch below a full HD 1080P, and over $1,000.00 cheaper. Compared to a 720 (or smaller resolution 600TVL), the performance for the price is means it is not worth buying anything with a smaller resolution than a 960H. We have our cameras facing the street, and while we CAN'T read license plates of cars going by 30ft from our house (even with the built in digital zoom feature), we can read the license plates if they turn into our driveway and get closer. We placed a camera above the front door, and can clearly identify anyone who touches the doorbell or knocks on the door. (No fuzzy ID such as "its a male"; you could ID anyone with the screen resolution). The night vision is awesome; turns night in to day, even when we have all of our outside lights turned off.
Very good system
The system includes everything to be up and running. The hardest part is getting the DVR to talk to the router so the system can be monitored from anywhere there is an internet connection. I got it so I could observe the conditions around my house when I was away on vacation. It took many calls to their tech line to get everything working. Their technicians were very helpful in getting everything operational. My longest wait time was less than ten minutes. It was not a fun experience but the outcome was positive. I have a MacBook, iPad, iPhone and an Airport Extreme router. I would recommend this to anyone.
Excellent Product
A computer company named Ward Computers in Springfield told me about this system. He Suggested I buy it, and told me it was available though Sams Club, and told me about how one of his commercial customers use it at their business. I am glad I got the 8 camera package as this way I can see everything that is going on. The cameras are really amazing and the night vision on them exceeded my expectations.
outstanding video
As I say, Outstanding video. The only problem I had in setting this system was with the cd-rom would not download onto my computer. I would also recommend to learn the nomenclatures of "how the router operates" in order to view the system remotely.. Other then that, I love my surveillance system.
Great Hardware, Software is a disaster
I've had this NVR for about a month, and so far I'm pretty satisfied. The camera quality is great, easy to mount and hook up. Cabling is provided and was long enough for all cameras mounted on my house. Great night vision detection as well. Really if this review was based on hardware alone, I'd probably give it a 5.... ....but when you get to the software, it is a complete disaster. Setting it up on the unit itself was pretty quick and easy. It's when you try using any of the software programs for your pc or smartphone that you run into numerous issues. It definitely may be a deal breaker for most people.
First time purchasing product but quality is good
The night vision is excellent. The performance quality is excellent and the cameras has good resolution qualities. It come with a 65ft cord but wish it included two 65ft cord and/or 125ft cord. It would be nice if you had an option with the length of cord to purchase with pkg. So, far I would purchase another product from Q-See
So far, so good
I have installed 6 of the 8 cameras so far. I am still having a bit of a learning curve on recording the video signals but it works well for live video. Granted, I purchased this to record, not just remote view, but everything seems fine so far from a hardware perspective.
Pretty good
The system was really simple to install. The cables are only 60', so placement of the dvr is important. 60' does not go far when you drop down a wall. The instructions say if camera is over 60' from dvr it must have an independent power supply, meaning a a 12 volt transformer plug. I contacted technical support, (via online chat is the only available tech support)!and the guy told me if video quality was good, then an independent power supply is not needed. He stated if I need one it should be a 1500ma. My unit came with 3000ma supplies. I purchased an extra adapter and placed a camera about 400' away on it and the picture quality is very good using the RG59 Siamese cable. After installation, I did not have a picture on my tv. Back to the online chat technical support and realized my hdmi input on my tv would not recognize the signal from the dvr. So I had to go to an electronics store and purchase a BNC-RCA adapter to hook up to reg video inputs to get a picture. The system only comes with an hdmi cable and the dvr is setup from the factory at a resolution my tv wouldn't recognize. After changing the resolution, the hdmi cable worked. I wish Q-see would set a different resolution so Customers don't have to purchase more adapters/cables. Then the first night up and running, I found I have one camera that has faulty night vision I guess as there is a halo surrounding the picture. I switched to another camera and the halo followed the camera so I need to contact them to return the camera. Overall, it's a pretty good system for the money. Tech support is very poor as you chat with a guy that takes as long as 10 or 15 minutes to give you an answer that does not even relate to your question. Don't these guys read the question first? A little aggravating having to run and buy an adapter due to factory settings. A bad camera too to top it off.
Very poor customer service
System works fairly well, especially for the price. However, the technical support is AWFUL. The unit resets the factory defaults when there is a power outage. After over an hour on their "chat" (there is no phone support) I was directed to jump through hoops to maybe get the item fixed. The backup battery inside is permanently mounted to the motherboard, and any attempt by the user to replace it will void the warranty. That said, when it works, it is a decent product.
