To say that this item is a piece of junk is putting it mildly. The instructions advise putting two handfuls of leaves in the hopper at one time. imagine how long it would take to clean up even a small yard. To add insult to injury it just blows the leaves back in your face. Also the on/off switch is difficult to manipulate. I would not recommend this item to anyone.

This worked well for a HUGE piles of leaves that would have filled probably 20 contractor bags....got it down to 5 yard wasted bags and ended up using it as mulch on my flower gardens. Buy extra line because it does wear down quickly especially if you haven't sorted through and pulled out sticks.

My first use of this product. Performed exactly as expected. In short order, four (4) 50-gallon trash cans of leaves and pine needles became 2/3 can of finely shredded mulch. Sweet! It is easy to use, though very dusty. Got covered with airborne leaf dust! (Next time, I plan to do shredding on a slightly breezy day, and I will stand up-wind of the shredder! Should help.) Protective eyewear and mask are a must!

Turns leaves into fine compost, wonderful for my chickens to spread around their yard. The only problem is the cutter wires (plastic) get whittled down to nothing if there are any branches mixed with leaves; but, this came with 20 extra (10 pair) and replacing them is relatively easy.

I have used this item three times this season. Each session lasted about 3 hours. The leaf mulch created when mixed with soil and perhaps some aged manure will negate the need for me to outlay money for mulch and/or topsoil.Also, easy to assemble and appears to be hardy although lightweight. A solid value in my opinion!

My 20 y.o. Flowtron"s motor burned out so I researched and bought this. Quite easy to assemble and shreds quickly and smaller pieces than I was used to - think this .10 string is surprisingly better than Flowtron's .08. Also loved the Walmart price. It has been run ~ I hr. Would buy again but wish 1) there was provision (at least a hook) for storing string, googles, etc., 2) the outside dimension was a bit wider so the legs cleared my 30 gal trash can, 3) the depth is quite shallow vs. Flowtron so is easy for fingers to inadvertently hit the string, and 4) the motor extending below the shell so if using without legs, it will rest on the motor housing rather than plastic shell. It is a shame these issues exist, but I sure like everything else so far.

The fact that you can place a trash can under it to catch the shredded material is so much of an improvement over the bag used by a leaf-blower/vacuum system is, by itself, a great selling point. This allows you more time to actually clean up rather than having to stop and empty the bag every few minutes. AND, it does and excellent job of shredding the leaves and small branches into compost.

Easy to set up and use. use eye and hearing protection, plug it in, and ready to go.

This was a gift for my nephew, and he loves it.

The cutters are plastic weed eater line. Wore out in about 45 seconds. Not worth the money, completely unuseable. JUNK.
