I'm physically handicapped and my new house has a giant maple tree in the back yard. The amount of leaves this year was huge and this Sun Joe shredder made the cleanup very easy. I used a gas-powered blower to get the leaves in the back corner of the lot and my daughter mulched them. It was so efficient that I had a hard time keeping up with her. We took care of the entire back yard in less than a couple of hours, and the mulching line is still in good shape. The only negative is that it didn't fit well on top of the small round plastic garbage can I used and was tilted, but it still worked well. It does put out some dust so wear old clothes and a dust mask. I mulched a test batch using a 30-gal garbage back and there was no dust at all however. I highly recommend this mulcher!

I have a heavily wooded lot, which means leaves, pine needles, etc. year round.....I was so sick of bagging them up and adding lots of plastic to a landfill! There are several leaf mulchers on the market but this was the only one I found that would handle dry and wet leaves (since I usually have more wet than dry.) It was simple...and fast...to set up and start using. It took a few scoopfuls to learn how much to put in at a time, to not overload it. I did not have much problem with dust or things kicking out of the hopper, and small twigs were not a problem, either. So far I've only used the "medium" setting which chops really small pieces. It's also easy to move, but I wish it did have wheels, since I'm only 5'2" and when the legs are set at "3", it's almost as tall as me! I also purchased the Sun Joe Chipper for all my branches and bush clippings but haven't had a chance to use it yet since the weather has been so bad. If it works like the Leaf Mulcher, my yard will look GREAT this year!

Works really well. Mulched up leaves at amazing speed for an inexpensive unit. Did my whole yard and had 4 fifty-gallon bags of mulch. Never had to replace any of the nylon mulching strings. Be sure not to run any sticks or branches thru the unit and you will love this mulcher.

Purchased this in March 2023. I've used it twice and it works great. You do need to use gloves and a leaf paddle to hold the leaves in the hopper. The opening is large, and you can easily put your hand into the hole. It's like a upside down weed wacker, with the plastic line. The lines are easy to replace, takes a couple of minutes. Really like that the legs extend. One downside is that you have to use a plastic bag underneath and then pour the mulched leaves into a leaf bag because it's not tall enough to put the paper bag underneath. But overall, it works like I wanted it to.

This product was great for my project! I had another brand for several years and loved it too, but it died. After much ado, I chose the SunJoe to replace it. It has several features and more power than the other. The twine is so much easier to change - no tools needed. My whole need for this product is about pine straw. No other reviews seemed to talk about pine straw mulching. I have only reviewed two other things in my life and one of those was a vacation location. I have twenty 100' tall huge pine trees in my yard. I decided to use pine straw to make a pathway in my new wonderful raised bed garden. It took a few days but it is wonderful - almost like a carpet! You have to set the setting on "coarse" instead of "pine straw" or it would take forever and more twine than you could stand to use. My pathway is 84' x 3' x 2" thick. I did have to change the twine for every trash bag full of mulch. And you much be patient - go slow and put a big handful in at a time. It takes about 20 minutes to fill a bag. I am female and 5'10" tall. After each bag I changed the twine and rested and encouraged myself to do another one. It's a slow process. But - I LOVE IT!

Received it, had some problems installing legs is about it. Runs great, goes thru cutting lines quick especially when there are small twigs in pile. Used two days in a row, only problem was dirty power switch, used air compressor to blow out area and fixed it.

The machine itself is easy to use and was helpful for me to chop hay for a horse that could not swallow regular hay. It was awesome in that respect. I did find however that the chopped product does tend to get caught up in the area just under the hole to feed in the stuff you want shredded. It then needs to be removed. I also wish the string would last a little longer but these are minor things in the overall performance. Customer service is excellent on this product as I had to return my first machine because of a switch problem and the replaced it with free shipping and a prepaid voucher to send the othe machine back. Very awesome service.

I got this to handle the lavender trimmings and leaves in my yard. My trees haven't dropped their leaves yet, but this baby ate its way through a large pile of lavender trimmings (I have 50+ plants), reducing them to a fine mulch that I can reuse. I'm sure it will be just as effective in shredding the leaves once they start to fall. It feels good to be reusing the yard waste in my own garden, instead of putting it out at the curb each week. The string that it comes with is adequate for leaves and such. Next year, when I do the lavender again, I'll buy some of that more-aggressive trimmer string by Rino. As long as it's 0.10 inch, it should work fine. Yes, I would definitely recommend this product.

This could have been made better. As far as doing the job, it works great, but I had to modify it in several places. The biggest is the cooling air intake for the motor.There is a filter that is internal and cannot be cleaned without taking the whole thing apart, I put a pre filter on the outside that keeps the internal filter from getting completely blocked . Next I taped over any gaps or openings ,this keeps the leaf dust down. I use a strap to attach the bag, this seals it and keeps a lot of the leaf dust down.

I loved this leaf mulcher for my garden and composter material. However, a month after my 2 year warrantee expired, it stopped working completely. I ordered and paid for a replacement, and now continue with my mulching. Still, I am disappointed that the 1st one died on me. I have about 7 Sun Joe products, and love them. I never contacted the company because of the expiration, though only by a month.
