Works really well. Mulched up leaves at amazing speed for an inexpensive unit. Did my whole yard and had 4 fifty-gallon bags of mulch. Never had to replace any of the nylon mulching strings. Be sure not to run any sticks or branches thru the unit and you will love this mulcher.

I made a "skirt" to put around the bottom and put a bin under the unit with the "skirt" in it. This feeds the mulch right into the bin so it is easy to dump where I want it. I am so glad I got it because I live in the woods and have A LOT of leaves.

Simple to assemble. Easy to move. As long as you follow the instructions on small handfuls of leaves at a time, it does and excellent job. Produces great mulch.

We know the product and the reputation of the company and the warranty and the price is very reasonable. We like the fact that they have improved the start button by covering it with a protective clear covering and now have variable levels of mulching depending on what is being shredded and mulched. Both great features.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I use the Leaf Shredder as a Hay Shredder for my 25 years old horse who can hardly chew. Since he has less teeth it is a life challenge if he cannot eat properly the hay. I use it every 2 days for at least half an hour and it is very powerful and easy. This product saved my horse life !!!!

I have really been impressed with the Sun Joe Shredder. Since I have an abundance of large trees, I also have and abundance of leaves. It bothered me to see those bags of leaves (fertilizer) going to the landfill. The Sun Joe grinds them up to a little more than dust, and back on my lawn. While it is designed to have a plastic bag to catch the grindings, I just let them fall back on the lawn. I frequently move the machine to spread the grindings over different parts of the lawn.

I didn't buy this for making mulch. I bought it to chop hay, for my 29 year old horse. Because of her age, she is left with pretty much no teeth. For her to chew regular hay is nearly impossible and I was looking at having to put her down before winter. I bought this after reading other reviews about how great it works for chopping hay, for older horses. So far, it works great! I use the fine setting to chop alfalfa and grass hay. It looks pretty much like grass clippings when done. The coarse setting makes about 1.5"-2" long stems. It was easy to assemble, with no tools needed. Instead of buying chopped hay, at $15/bag, I can now make my own and hopefully have some more time with my favorite horse - all thanks to this product. I have 4 other senior horses, so this will get lots of use. A little surprise I didn't know is this comes with a 2 year warranty! Also, if you register it online, you get an addition 90 days. That speaks volumes about a company and how much they believe in their product!

Easy to assemble and use. On AZ ash tree leaves, the mulcher "balls" up the leaves in the chute and they don't drop through to the bag very easily. Often had to stop and unclog. Mulching created tremendous amount of dust. Tried to slightly dampen leaves and it helped a little but drawback to this is the leaves don't mulch very fine. Not totally disappointed with this unit. It does mulch.

Mulches leaves well but you will need to replace the cord often. Overall, I am still satisfied with my purchase.

Easy to use. Does a good job especially on dry leaves. Just be careful of sticks. They cut down the life of the cutters.
