Ordered the unit........which was back-ordered for some time, then Generac called us to let us know it was being shipped, then delivery came with a phone call the day before to verify location and .enable us to schedule being there for the arrival. This was very helpful.
The install went smoothly, and the unit looks really great, runs flawlessly in every aspect. There was a good deal of time in the entire process of the install, a site was prepped, a slab was poured, the propane tank was exchanged for a larger one, the concrete cured, the unit was placed on it. ( We lifted the unit on it's pallet with the tractor with twin hay fork/pallet forks and then tilted it slightly after unbolting the unit from the pallet, and then slid it gently down and onto the slab quite easily, we're in the horse business, so we did this part ourselves having the tractor etc).
We would recommend highly having professionals do the install.
A new LP line was ran to the generator with a new regulator. We knew a master electrician, and he came out and looked at what we had, ordered the conduit and line for the hookup, then the next week the hookup was done and all has worked fine since then,. He appreciated the transfer switch that came with the unit, a well designed arrangement that simplified his work.
Also, the warranty does not start at the date of the actual purchase or delivery..... it begins when all hookups are complete and it is fully operational and ready for service....Outstanding!!
We live not only in the south "tornado alley", we are in a very rural area, we are also on a very long "run" on the power line situation, and limbs, trees, etc get on this during wind events and off goes the power, sometimes for 2 or 3 days. In addition, we are sometimes subject to severe ice storm events, with the power out for perhaps 10 days or so. It is so marvelous to have the capacity now to keep our rural well water flowing for our home and the animals, and keep my spouse's CPAP medical airway device running should the power go off while we sleep.... not to mention the fact that the home and barn run seamlessly, we have running water, heat or air-conditioning, Internet, hot water, pellet stove, cooking, laundry capabilities...everything simply works as tho nothing whatever was out of order. No worries about running only this or only that, it runs everything smoothly, not a flicker on electronics.
We considered converting to LP cook-top, oven, hot water heater.. the cost would have been about the same as the generator, with no well pump, no lights, no TV or Internet etc.. so this decision was so the best we have made in forever, for our personal comfort, our business with the horses, our sanity and health! Now when we are gone for a few days for a ride or competition, the power outages at home will not cause the ruin of the freezer(s) and refrigerator, and water can be provided for the animals at our farm.
We hunt, and have quite a bit of meat from time to time as well as the beef we raise that we put in the freezer. Now that is a precious commodity, and is now safeguarded by our wonderful generator setup. Now when the power goes off at night, we hear the hum of the generator come on , stretch and yawn, commenting "power's off" and go back to sleep! Don't you know that the neighbors that are trying to run extension cords to the portable generators and getting rained on etc might be a tad envious! Hey, that was us, for years and years!
Do this, you will be enhancing the value of your home and have such peace of mind. We are truly thrilled!
