WOULD NOT START !!!

The iGEN4500 units seem to have a ongoing problem with the choke as this one also has this same problem, after viewing some UTUBES I removed the right side cover and found that the choke was not plugged in, after I plugged it in everything worked OK. See pics

Choke issue. And stripped bolts.

The well known choke issue... is still an issue! My box was delivered lightly beat up but it has fome protection. Found the battery beet up from inside the generator. Acid cap broken off. Battery should have been secured with the supplied strap. Fired right up first time but was not vary smoth running. I questioned whether the choke was on still or not? Could not tell. It ran for two hours running my travel trailer ac only. And stalled due to filed plug! I guess that answers that. So fixing the choke plug sounded like an easy fix except for the 2 bolts that where stripped from the inside plastic incert! And now I had to clean the plug and the completely blocked. Spark answers from running so rich. After all that it smoked a little at ...

    Quality product

Just bought this generator and I'm in the process of getting it broke in. It responds to varying loads well. I don't think it's as quiet as my Honda EU3000is that it is replacing, considering that it's a larger generator but it is still very quiet. Happy with this purchase!

    IGEN4500DF Generator

This one is a lot quieter than my old one and I like the fact that it is dual fuel makes it more versatile. Started right up after unpacking and following setup instructions. I can also pair it up with approved generator for more output. My only concern is running it at higher elevations as it says it needs a high elevation kit to run at 5000 ft elevation or above to get maximum performance output. I don't know how it will effect my warranty if I install it or do I need to have an authorized factory representative install it

    Very Nice Product

Purchased this generator for home outages due to weather (sub-tropical hurricane territory). I received the generator 06/09, and did an immediate inspection. All looked good. Did another look 06/10 while I read the manual to learn my way around the unit. Very straightforward for maintenance and repair. Put oil in it, and fired it up. Ran perfectly and really quiet! With proper maintenance, this generator should last me for many years.

    Duel Fuel great benefit

I purchased this generator to power the air-conditioner in my trailer and my CPAP machine and it has no problem doing so. It started first time on Propane and then again first time on gas. The only issue we had was (just what some other reviews stated and thank goodness they did so we could easily find the problem) it ran really rough because the ground wire was not connected, so we had to remove the housing connect the wires, to resolve the issue.

    Great features & service

Living in the California Redwoods where storms regularly take down trees and power lines, we really needed backup power. After a ton of research we chose the Westinghouse iGen4500 Dual Fuel Generator. We love the low decibel sound level, the high wattage output, and the dual fuel flexibility. We've got it set up to plug in to our electric service panel so that lights, outlets, TV and computer all function normally. Great generator! Now we're not worried about another big storm!

The One that Works Was Great!

I originally bought 2 of these generators, but one of them didn't work and had to be returned for a replacement. Better still was the somewhat belligerent woman I spoke with on the phone when I called. She seemed to be excited to pull a power play on correcting me. Not the person you'd expect when you call for Customer Support.

    Good to have in reserve

Every year we can expect a powerful storm, and a few days of power outages. Last summer, a friend loan us, his generator, which we used to power our refrigerator and tropical freshwater aquarium. He has a second one that we promptly bought from him. We are going to be ready this year!

iGen5000DF Electric Start Duel Fuel Generator

I purchased this generator to use while in our RV. It works great! We can run our AC/Heater and the microwave at the same time. No problem! We will also use it as a backup power source in the event our home power goes out. It will run our freezer and refrigerator without any issues.

    Great for camping

Works great for camper. Only used once for camping can run everything on our camper at the same time. It was on the hitch mount carrier and could not hear it inside with TV on low volume. No more setting generator 50ft away from camper to have a conversation. Don't try to start on eco mode, if it doesn't start the first try, check the eco mode switch.

    IGen4500DF

Just bought this yesterday and followed start instructions for propane fuel. It started with remote first time and tan fine. I put 3kW load on it and it was still quiet and steady. Varied load up and down in Eco mode and it varied speed as needed. Very pleased with initial run. Really liking the propane option.

    Choke problems

I did not use for two months and when I did It started hard and smelled of gas after a short time of running had a puddle under it. Westinghouse offered to send new carburetor and gave me a name of a shop. I have not had time to get it fixed yet. When running it's quite powers my tools.

    Nice Generator

I purchased this generator and received it on time undamaged in the box. I followed the start up instructions and it started with no issues. Will be using it this weekend after the break in period. There were no rust issues around the gas fill area as I had previously seen on other reviews.

Pretty slick - once we got one that ran great

It took 3 attempts (3rd time is the charm!) to get one that worked - but, once we did, it's a great product. Like many other reviews, the first 2 had serious throttle issues - would rev up and down constantly - assuming wiring issues - maybe these don't ship that stable and wires come loose? No clue. But we love the one we now have!

    Perfect for Our Home!

We bought this for emergency backup power for our home. It is exactly what we needed and had been looking for. One of the most important factors was how quiet the unit is when operating. In addition, we wanted dual fuel capability. Glad we purchased the Westighouse iGen4500DF! Perfect for our home!

    Will Be Great

After initial problem of the automatic choke unplugged it did all it could. My son unscrewed all sides, connected the wiring, watched as the choke worked and it ran fine. We did the long term fix as Westinghouse suggested and then some, completely removing the side not wishing to break it.

    My First Inverter Generator

This genset fits under the hard cover on my pickup. It takes 2 men to lift it out, or one guy can do it with a ramp as it's over 120# with gas. It's quiet on "eco", and slightly louder on full. I can easily start it on "eco" with push button and remote. I have not tried to start it with the rope as yet. I bought a 12' LP gas extension hose that I hooked up to one of my RVs 30# bottles, and it fired up just fine on eco after an extra second of cranking to fill the hose. Then I plugged in the 30A RV cord and also a common/ground bonding plug in one of the 20A rec. (required to keep my RVs surge protector system happy). I fired up the a/c w/ an eye on the trailers voltage. It was 125V w/ no a/c, and didn't drop below 120V during the 15kBtu a/c...

Like all the little features that it has

Bought it for mainly my camper, I like the power that it has for an inverter generator and all of the different features it has. They made it the way it should be made. Had a little problem with shipped bad fuel making float stick but cleaned it and it runs like a champ now.

    Just what I needed

Just bought this unit a couple months ago. Cannot comment on the reliability or durability yet. I had been looking for a portable generator for several months for my 5th wheel trailer and the features on this one were hard to match. First impressions were excellent and it started up immediately after setup. I have only run it on propane at this point and will soon test it with gasoline before heading out on a boondocking trip next month. It comes with everything needed to connect to a propane tank. My only complaint is that the length of the propane hose is a bit limiting and they do not have an option to purchase longer ones. I changed to a 12ft hose so I could reach the two on-board propane tanks on my trailer. I purchased a hose ...

    Recieved today

I just received the product today. Instructions easy to follow. Did initial set setup and hooked propane tank. Hit start and it started right up. Only issue is that the rubber battery stap is broken. Will need to contact Westinghouse fo a replacement.
