Biggest playset I could find and great price!
So this year I got the idea that our income tax would be best spent on a playset for our 2 and 4 year old kids. BEST IDEA EVER! I started by searching at samsclub.com since I had seen the display in the store every month for the last year. Found the Saratoga then called a swingset installer (swingmantexas is the best ever). He advised me to look at another website before making the purchase. We did but Saratoga had all the features we wanted and it would leave enough running room in our yard. Kids love the swings, especially that dual swing/glider thing. I thought my 2 year old would be too small but he's not. He loves the 'tiny house' and they will grow into the monkey bars (though they get us to carry them while they try to hang on). Of course, slide is great. The thing that the pics didn't do justice to is the little table/bench with roof on the back. My kids love it. I would recommend this to anyone. Install by a pro took from 8 to 5:30 with an hour lunch break--well worth the money to keep my marriage intact!
Not the best quality & small
We had an Adventure Playsey at our old home. Couldn't find the same model so I bought this one. Wood quality not so good. Instructions need to be better. Monkey bar section very short. Picnic bench can't support more than 50 lbs. We used cinder blocks to support the center. Walls to bottom of fort are not solid, you end up with openings. Photo is deceiving. We raised the roof so son could stand w/o stooping. Just a so so playset.
Happiness at the end of the trail
Nothing came put together, it was all in two boxes, thousands of pieces, (seemed like it). After it was all done well worth it. It took myself and two helpers about 9 hours to get done. The wood seems brittle but hopefully with the proper up keep it will last. About a hour an a half sorting through all the pieces. Missing no pieces and also has a little bit of extra hard ware. The end result 3 very happy kids.
Great so far
Delivery was fast and was placed in our garage as requested. Instructions talk about a certain hardware system that is not in the kit. Most instructions are OK. Some details are left out. In one case two boards overlap on one set of hardware. Looking further into the instructions located the problem. We had to disassemble and reassemble. This requires two people to hold parts in place while the part is fastened by the second person.
Very happy grandchildren!
Excellent value for the price! Free truck shipping in two very large boxes arriving less than one week from order date. It took 3 men approximately 9-10 hours to assemble. I researched numerous swing/play sets and paid close attention to customer reviews. This one fit our needs and was on sale for a fair price.
BUYER SELF INSTALLATION TIPS BELOW!!
If you assemble this set it will take 18-24 hours. There are @ 200 boards which are all marked to help you. There are probably 300 screws and bolts and nuts. Directions are not detailed enough and in some cases misleading. Make sure after every Assembly Step that the set is LEVEL AND SQUARE. The set can be level and not be square.Be sure you use the screws, bolts and nuts the instructions call for. Its best to not tighten down all the nuts and bolts but leave them a little loose so you do not distort the set. MAKE SURE THE SET IS SQUARE AND LEVEL AFTER EACH STEP AND YOU WILL HAVE A NICE SET FOR YOUR KIDS. BE SURE TO STAIN IT VERY 2 YEARS AND IT WILL BE NICE FOR A LONG TIME.
A Great Deal for Years of Fun
For the price range, this one cannot be beat. The free shipping is awesome and it came sooner than we expected. It comes in two boxes that seem like it could not possibly contain the entire unit, but it does. Only two of us, with moderate assembly skills and tools, put this together in about 18 - 20 total hours. Organization of parts and pre-assembly are your friend. The slide, which is your first challenge, is absolutely the hardest assembly of this unit. The rubber mallet/ hammer is a must for this! Don't get discouraged, the rest comes together a lot easier. We've had it a for a few weeks and we could not be happier. Quality is fantastic and the value is outstanding.
My 3 year old LOVES it. Excellent quality!!
Firstly, I read the reviews on this swing set and I believe many people are asking for too much for what you are spending. For the price, and considering this is all cedar wood construction, this is a excellent price (I got it on sale for $799). I am a avid DIY'er, and it took me 10 hours to assemble this play set by myself. My wife did help as much as she could with gathering the hardware for each step. The swing set went together wonderfully. All of the holes lined up, and it was very easy to square up then tighten down. My only comment might be that some of the directions didn't fully explain what bolts and screws go where, but it is pretty easy to figure out. Just keep in mind that when building the club house portion, you HAVE to assemble each phase with loose screws, then square it, then tighten everything down. That is critical. Overall, I am extremely happy with the construction, quality of materials, and the hardware. They provided lots of extra screws, bolts and washers, and I didn't have to buy a single screw to assemble the set. It was all there. I highly recommend this over other DIY kits and sets in this price range. I almost bought the kit where you provide your own lumber, and I am really glad I didn't. Also, I can't say enough good things about the trucking company that delivered the set. Received it in 6 days, and the driver was very courteous.
I should have believed the other reviews!
I am very disapointed in the quality of this swing set! There were several and I do mean several broken and or missing parts. If it wouldn't have been a bigger problem, I would have sent the entire set back!.My Dad and I set this swing set up, and are both more than qualifyed to do so . The first problem, no directions, then missing screws, bolts washers etc, the biggest problem were the BROKEN parts, main wood supports. Very dissapointed!
my kid loves it
finally done, well it took me ,myself only about 15-18 hrs total to put this together, after opening both boxes it came in and taking inventory ,its a very nice set for sure.As for the directions, make sure you look very very close to all the holes in the pics as later they will matter which way they go, I did have to drill a few holes that were not there but that was not a problem.Dont tighten up all the bolts before having the pieces togehter it will make it ezr..As for parts, they were all there, and I had about 50 extra pieces of hardware, looks like there was almost 1 piece left in each bag.I did pre-drill in most of the spots they reccommended to but not all.Overall very nice b ut it does seem overwhelming at first when you see all the pieces/hardware.go slow and it should be no problem,....ps you will need a socket set to make things go faster.
