Kids love it

We bought this last summer. It took my husband (with me as an assistant) about 12 hours to build. There are tons of pieces so you need lots of space just to organize it all. It seems very sturdy and we haven't had any problems with it. The stain/coloring on the wood has begun to fade in some spots. Overall a good purchase.

Very Nice Set

I would rate this as an A- to B+ set. The overall quality is good. There were some pieces that were warped upon arrival, but we were able to make them fit acceptably. I would rate the instructions for putting the set together a C. We pulled each section by the sheet and tried to match up hardware and individual elements to insure we had everything we needed for each section. Some sections were self explanatory and easy...others made no sense by the drawings. I would recommend actual photographs of construction instead of engineer type drawings as it is impossible to tell front from back sometimes. Additionally, the instructions for putting the fort together was the most difficult to make sense. When we put the cedar slats into the lower section side by side as shown, there was a huge gap on one side. We then had to remove all the slats and guess on spacing, which if one has experience in construction is not a huge problem...but for a novice, you need to be prepared for this. The instructions should indicate to allow some space between each slat. On the other sections of the fort, it is very specific on spacing to the 16th of an inch (even though the measurements don''t work out) The door instructions to attach were impossible to make sense. It took us about 15 minutes to figure out how the door installed since we had to guess the spacing on the slats on this side as well. My gut told me to allow about the same spacing as the other slats on the sides, which worked out and then add the support element to attach the door. We then tried to figure out if the door swung out or in. I thought it made more sense to swing out as this gives more room inside. Nope. It swings into the fort. All the instructions had to say was that the door installs INSIDE the fort, not on the outside and the jam attaches over the slat closest to the arch on either side (since the door can swing either way in) and then attaches with the magnet on the bottom. The ladder construction was easy, however, it is important to note that to attach the ladder it is CRITICAL that the installer predrill the hole for the screws that attach from inside the fort into the ladder. We did not do so and the first side split. I predrilled the other side and it worked fine. I had to glue and clamp the piece back together and I will use several construction screws INSTEAD of the larger lag screw to prevent further splitting of that piece of wood. Overall the quality of the bolts, screws and barrel nuts appears to be very good...time will tell after they have been in the weather a few years. The cedar seems to be good quality with little rosin (there were two boards that were sticky). The swings, glider, slide, and the remainder of the pieces are very nice. It is important to tell your kids to watch their head when climbing up the ladder and going into the fort...even though our granddaughter is only five, she has hit her head several times already on the arch going into the fort and at the top of the ladder. Were I to redesign the ladder side I would not have the arch on that side as it makes climbing onto the deck much easier. I may cut that piece and add a support piece to give structural strength to the top piece and allow the kids easier access for climbing. Overall, it took two of us who are pretty experienced at building about 12 hours build and set up. It was cold so working time was increased a little, but I would advise anyone to allow at least 12 to 15 hours total to complete the installation of the entire set. Also, you need to allow several hours prep time for the location where the set will finally be placed...depending on the material under the swing set.

Waste of money

Within the 1st year the wood started to crack, splinter, and brake. Not to take about how many boards broke during installation due to the boards being soo thin. We added an extra 2x4 behind the handle on the ladder for support. We are already looking for a new swing set and plan on using this one for scraps!

Perfect for toddlers!

I bought this swing get 2 months ago. It is a great set for my 19 month old to grow into. We did not install the glider because I only have 1 child and we added a bucket swing. There are some great qualities as well as no so great qualities. My father - in law is incredibly handy and it took my husband and him 2 full days to put together. You have to put together everything!!! The wood split and cracked a lot during install and is already peeling in some places. We are adding extra wood to certain areas for added strength. Overall it is a good set up slightly disappointed in the overall quality for the price!

Good value, lots of headaches!

The set was a good value for what you get, but the instructions were poorly labeled and many wood pieces were damaged in shipment and had to be reordered. you better be patient and have some time and good help to accomplish this task. hope the finished product is worth it.

KIDS LOVE IT!

This set takes several days to build but it's sturdy and will last. The children it was built for absolutely love to be outside on it and inside the little house! The trucking company, Estes, was the best as far as communication and working with us for delivery.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Two things I would have changed with this player is more stairs for the monkey bars and more bars they are too far apart. So now I have to spend more money to purchase 6 more. Also the picnic area is not sturdy at all. Mine has broke.

Great backyard fun

We bought this set one exactly one year ago as a birthday present for out 3 yr old twins. There is not a day that goes by that they don't play on it. I initially thought we would have to purchase bucket swings but they fit perfectly onto the included swings. We love the glider swing since they have learned how to ride together (and it doesn't require mommy to push). The clubhouse part is really cute and now that they are 4, we help them climb across the monkey bars. It is worth the investment since we've logged in so many hours of play. I feel we got a great bargain for the price as far as quality. I would have given 5 stars, but we paid a swing-set expert to help install this set so he could ensure it was level. He stated it indeed was solid construction, however he did have to drill a few extra holes in 2 of the beams since the pre-drilled ones were a bit off on measurement.

Great playground, easy (enough) setup

Set took 2 full 6 hour days (with two handy workers and one direction reader/parts puller/manager) to assemble. Everything was included in two boxes. No parts missing. Pilot holes were all drilled correctly but you MUST watch the placement of boards as you might not notice pilot holes until 5/6 steps later and realize you put the board on backwards. Delivery was fast and easy. Playset is kind of small and could use an extra support beam under picnic table bench but I'll just stay off of it ;)

Two boxes delivered on a palate. Instructions could be better, details are lacking in some of the instructions: one of the sections has missing words, and the side the lower walls should be located on is difficult to discern. All of the needed parts were included. Best price I could find.
