Better than an egg

I purchased mine from Sam's a year ago, and I love it. My son is getting married and I wanted to get him one. He said “give me your old one and buy an “egg” since you know you like this style of grill”. It helped me realize that I don't want to sacrifice all the extras that the “egg” doesn't have and I oughta write a review. The ash drawer and the double rack are worth it to me to stay with Vision, not to mention the rolling cart and the side shelves. I've done many pizzas, whole chickens, fajitas & roasts. It doesn't do ribs like my smoker and I would never try a brisket but it serves a purpose and it does it well.

excellent value compared to the egg

I bought this yesterday. Very easy to setup, even a millennial can handle. Picked up a 6.5lb pork butt while at Sam's and my first run is low and slow. Very easy to get to temp and holding steady. Looking forward to dinner tonight. Amazed at the features this has...beats the egg and I can buy $600 in meat with the money I saved by selecting this beauty!

Vision Kamado Grill

I bought mine (black) last July and have smoked with it several times. Excellent temperature control, easily burns in a temperature range 200-230 for 9+ hours without needing add more lump charcoal. This grill is also high quality construction. Highly recommend this smoker, amazing quality for the price. Make certain you have someone to help you assemble it, not difficult to put together but very heavy.

Fantastic grill

First time user and i did steaks using Vision recipe searing at 500 + deg and then reducing the temp to 400 deg and then cooking one for me 41/2 min and my wife well done at 6 min and steak at160 deg . Best steak i have ever cooked used only sea salt black pepper and cayenne pepper rub in. After the steaks were done I wrapped them in tinfoil for about 20 min to let it relax. Wow this steak was super cant wait to smoke ribs on it.

Great Grill

My husband bought this grill after seeing our son cooking pizzas, as well as many other items on his green egg. He read many reviews and after seeing the great sale price on this Vision and it having great reviews on the Web, he bought it. He had tried 2 other types of smoker grills before this Vision, and wouldn't go back to anything else. We are enjoying great grilled and smoked meals of a wide variety, as well as homemade pizza when my son is here. My son stated that this Vision grill is even better than his green egg. It has features that make it easier to use than the green egg. Now my other son can't wait to find one on sale, too. We all love it!!!

Great grill, smoker and pizza oven!

I have been using this for one year. I still enjoy using it and have no regrets. Performs as advertised and every bit as good as the Green Egg. I made my own heat diffuser using a $12 cast iron griddle/pizza stone and flat bar stock for $8. Base is sturdy but after year the caster are rusting badly (Florida humidity and a few hikes of the dogs' legs) but nothing I can't live with. Temperature is easy to control and doesn't require practice.

Great grill, but...

The grill itself is awesome! I absolutely love it. Makes it easy to perfectly cook two of my favorites: Baby back ribs or Fajitas. Of course, hamburgers or chicken come out great too! It was an easy and welcome transition to cooking with lump charcoal. I have seen some questions regarding this but really, its no big deal. I use a "chimney" to start my coals and there are plenty of other methods - youtube it and you'll be fine. The natural lump charcoal burns hotter and longer than the briquettes you are accustomed to, but the Vision Grill's vents will control your temperature, just takes a little practice. So I mentioned "the grill itself is awesome, but..." the caveat is regarding the stand and specifically the wheels. The stand has two locking and two non-locking wheels. The two non-locking wheels became detached from the stand and one of those basically ripped the stand apart where it connects. I have seen other reviews complaining about this problem but mine lasted two years before I even noticed this issue and the warranty is five years so Sam's replaced the entire grill for me. This is definitely a quality issue that Vision should address, but the cooking part of this grill is so awesome, I could not demote them by more than one star. Still has a strong "buy" rating from me, but only from Sam's based on the ease of handling my return

Better than BGE or Joe.

Beats out the two big names with grill surface area (more than twice as large) and with necessary accessories. Great smoker, quality build and easy assembly with spare parts included. Earlier versions that had issues with air leaks around the vent doors are long gone with a permanent clean epoxy line around the vent. I am writing this as I eat delicious 18 hour smoked brisket, corn on the cob and bread all cooked on my series B. No issues going for 18 hours at 225. I am surprised just how good it is.

Great Value compared to other similar products.

I bought this a few weeks ago and so far, I have cooked 6 racks of ribs, a brisket flat, some burgers, and dogs. No not all at the same time. lol The almost 20inch diameter round rack has two levels, so that's a lot of room to put your food for smoking. If grilling, I recommend one tier cooking rack. If you are looking for the diffuser, its not the small. For the B Series, we need the large and its sold out at Sams. :-( But anyway, start your fire with lump coal slow using the squares or an electric starter. Before its a raging fire at 400 degrees...spread those coals around and close your vents at about 175...then it will work its way up to 225. Make sure the temp is stable, throw in some of your favorite woodchips/chunks and let it get good and smokey. Start your meat of choice and get ready for a delicious flavor for your BBQ.

Awesome grill!

First, this grill cooks awesome food. You will look love the results. It is extremely heavy and definitely requires two people to lift the unit onto the cradle. Please don't think you can do it alone. Crated and packaged it is 280 lbs. Uncrated, the unit weighs 185. Assemble was fairly easy. It took us about an hour because we wanted to do it right. Plus, we put it together on the patio in Texas heat! Cooking - I highly recommend the lava stone that can be found on samsclub.com if you plan on smoking meat. It Helps regulate the temp with no flare ups. You don't need much lump wood when cooking. I cooked a turkey and 2 slabs of ribs without adding wood and still had fuel left. (Meaning, I had too much wood to start with). ?????. Lesson learned Overall, great purchase!
