I have used TurboTax - Desktop for any years, but this year I tried using Online version. I didn't like the Online version as well because I couldn't see the Forms as I was filling them out. All I had was the questions so I wasn't sure where the information was being added to the forms. It made it more difficult for me to do our self-employment sections - Schedule C. I finished with Desktop version because it looked like I couldn't get my refund deposited into my bank account directly. TurboTax has my complete confidence however because I know it is very accurate.

I had two issues with Turbo Tax. 1. When editing retirement income, the boxes to select editing or deleting are hidden in the row. One must know that those boxes exist and hover the mouse over the "hidden" boxes and hopefully select the correct box (edit or delete). 2. In entering gambling income, the forms indicate that if the state information is blank (e.g. Washington), don't enter a state identifier. However smart check insists that this is an error.

The product itself is mine. The misleading information regarding using a portion of the federal refund to pay for the state filing fee and prep cost, without properly explaining how it would go through a third party and all the hassles that go along with that is infuriating. To the point that I am considering no longer using your product as there are plenty of other tax preparation options on the market.

I did not like that changes that were made with the state tax function. I use to be able to input my estimated payments in the interview. This year, that was not there. I had to go to forms and find it. Also, the program used to store my bank info instead of me having to type it in twice. It did not do that this year. Frustrating changes!

Product generally works well. The amount of upselling in the app is ridiculous however. I'm not paying $60 for tax advice the app should provide and I don't want to be bombarded with upgrade or add-on prompts either. It makes for a very bad user experience. Also, I've had issues the last 2 years where if you answer a question a certain way and go back and change it, the wizard won't update all necessary fields. I had to go into the form to correct it.

Entering was easy. I had a question that wasn't answered with the form and help feature but I worked through that. Printing would only preview and not print but I saved to PDF and printed from there. Like all software not perfect but I rely on Turbo Tax to get me through it.

I had two issues with this year's TurboTax. (1) Arizona Form 323: I usually bypass the step-by-step and enter directly to the forms. I have been filing the same forms for AZ credits for many years. This year Form 323 (Credit for Contribution to Private School Tuition Organizations) had a box set at the top to enter school names and addresses, no amounts. I have no idea why that was there as the next box set requested the names of Private School Organizations to which you contributed where you entered the amounts. That first box set is not on the official state form and it made no sense as to why it was there. Plus I was not able to enter the name and amounts for which I made contributions on the second box set. I had to use overrides to get everything in. (2) Downloading data from my financial institution was a mess. A lot of people were having a problem with this. They went through the process of supposedly downloading the data, TTax said it was completed, only to find out the data was not transferred. In order to get it to work, we were being forced to use the MS Edge browser as other browsers would not work, and we had to allow access to any drive on our system. A lot of people would not agree to that. I hope this is fixed for next year.

OVERALL IT'S WONDERFUL. HOWEVER, HERE ARE SOME POSSIBLE IMPROVEMENTS IMO. 1. DON'T REQUIRE US TO WAIT ON UPDATES EVERY TIME WE START THE PROGRAM. DO IT AT THE END RIGHT BEFORE WE FILE. 2. CARRY OVER THE INFORMATION AT THE END FOR BANK NUMBERS, DL'S, ETC. THAT LITTLE BIT OF INFORMATION IS A PAIN TO ROUND UP EVERY YEAR. THIS IS ESPECIALLY TRUE, WHEN YOU GET OLDER AND YOUR WALLET/CHECK BOOK IS UP OR DOWN THE STAIRS AND ITS THE SAME INFORMATION AS LAST YEAR. I STILL AM A BIT UPSET YOU COULDN'T ISSUE A WINDOWS 10 VERSION. I HAD TO BUY A NEW COMPUTER JUST FOR THIS BECAUSE OF WINDOWS 11. MEANWHILE I HAVE TWO WINDOWS 10 COMPUTERS THAT CAN'T BE UPGRADED BUT WORK PERFECTLY AND DID SO JUST LAST TAX YEAR. I'M $600 POORER JUST TO DO MY TAXES WITH NO NOTICABLE DIFFERENCE AND STILL USE THE SAME SECURITY SOFTWARE.

The tools do a good job of guiding the user through all of the categories. Most of the help pages are truly helpful. But, there is so much complexity in all of the forms and required paperwork that it is unimaginable that the majority of users will accomplish filing in a short amount of time. The worst part of using these tools is the outrageous high costs associated with the program price and filing fees. With millions of tax filers, the company must be making billions. Works fine on MacOS. Assume the calculations are correct.

TT did not appear to be as user friendly as in the past years. The most annoying aspect was e-filing FED and electing to print State and mail it in. TT appeared to not let me go beyond a certain point in the filing sequence because I was not e-filing the STATE. Essentially, I had to fast forward to "print for my records and print the state forms that needed to go into the mail. Quit trying to sell me the add-ons and allow for a logical sequence to finish and file the way I want to.
