I have been using TurboTax software on my desktop, now laptop, computer since 1996! It was always reliable and easy to use EVERY YEAR! Over the years I've had to file simple and very complicated tax returns and TurboTax handled it all. Until this year. I downloaded the 2025 tax year TurboTax program and it was incredibly "glitchy". I kept having to restart the computer when it got "stuck". Then I had to uninstall and re-install to escape from a State Tax loop, then when I got it going for my state, it wouldn't accept a credit card to pay the $25 fee for electronic filing. The program froze with an error message to keep trying again, and I did several times. Finally I gave up and printed my State return to file by mail. I'm so disappointed in the program this year! I'll try again next year, but please fix the problems. Thank you for such good service and product over the years before this!!

I had trouble due to the estimated tax payments from 2024 being carried forward to the 2025 return an I did not catch it until after 2025 was filed. I had to file amended returns for both the Fed and State. Also the 1040-V had $427 printed when the amount due was $900 after the estimated tax payment was corrected.

Guided tour through every section of tax returns is quite helpful. Topics are logically organized. Unfortunate that I still have to spend hours reviewing documents that I already uploaded to Turbo Tax to answer Turbo Tax questions about the data on those forms. For example, I have to locate and add up the specific amounts received as foreign dividends as to which foreign tax was paid. Also, really hard to match specific uploaded forms to Turbo Tax questions when multiple forms are uploaded from the same broker; each account has a number on the uploaded form, but Turbo Tax does not capture that data or otherwise distinguish among multiple account statements from the same broker (e.g., Fidelity), so I have to search through multiple documents that I already uploaded to Turbo Tax.

There is a bug in the software. It has been a problem for over a month. Intuit doesn't seem to care about fixing the issue. The program adds a Canadian Retirement Pension section when you answer the question "did you live outside of the US?" with a NO. FIX THIS PLEASE.

Import was good. An issue with having to change the font size so the screen fits. The final page, I couldn't click on the button due to scroll option wasn't available. I had to hook a second monitor to move the window so I could click the window button.

This year was awful. Previous years have been easy...this year every step was more difficult and it seems you did that on purpose. Downloading was difficult, needing to have an Intuit account was onerous, and entering tax information was far more difficult than before. We don't file our state taxes with you because you are always wrong. We paid a fine for wrong numbers the only time we tried it.

The Expert had some of the same problems with the program as I. For example, the program wanted information on my home mortgage. My mortgage was paid off in 2002. It would not accept my balance of $0 mortgage - there was no provision for no mortgage payment. TurboTax should have had a proofing team to catch problems like this one as well as others which I do not have time to list right now. I am a retired Certified Financial Planner.

It was fairly easy to use except there was some glitch with submitting the info for one of my forms. It did not allow me to go to the next step until a specific question was answered; however, that step didn't apply to me at all. I, finally, got around it but, I had to go to the specific form rather than using the guide me option. I didn't have any issues with the accuracy or compatibility. The by our advice feature was annoying as I said no but it repeated the question several times. Ask fewer times.

I am a long time user of TurboTax and in the past have given it a 5 star rating each year. However this year i can only give it 3 stars because of issues with it. After I completed entering my information under the Federal tab, I then had the app do a review for any errors. It came back with 177 items that needed data. The vast majority of these items (107 ish) needed the "Is this a digital asset?" question answered. I had to manually select No for each item even though I answered No to the Cypto currency question earlier. The remaining items were missing personal data that should have been imported from my financial institution. Finally, typing my review in this box has been annoying. The highlighted suggested review topics above keep changing as I type causing text to not be displayed. I've had to go back and add the missing text numerous times.

The product is pretty good, and a lot of thought has gone into it. However, in recent years it has suggested that I take the standard deduction. When this happens, it does NOT print the information from Schedule A, which I want in order to verify the calculations. In fact, I think it's making an error, but I will have to reconstruct Schedule by myself to see. Even if no error was made, I need this data for future planning, etc.
