Prints good but broken in transit... replacing

Printer stopped printing correctly after a few uses. When I hoped the top I noticed that the rollers were loose and had broken. I am not sure if they were broken during transit and me printing lossened than or what. I am returning for a new printer. I will say the it printed amazingly the few time I did print.

As Advertised

3rd Epson printer. Simple set up, ease of use, great results. Took about 20 min to set up, once my preferred paper ICC's were loaded it was good to go. Can be a bit slow when printing in high quality but shouldn't present a problem as I'm not running a photo lab with it.

The best Epson printer ever

Best printer I have ever owned for printing color photos. Extremely stingy with the ink. It is a bit difficult to load the paper in but once you get the hang of it it's really no big deal. The color photos are truly magnificent. I was totally shocked !! I originally purchased the 8500 and was so happy with it I gave it to my daughter after purchasing the 8550. I have always used Epson color printers but this one gets the prize.

The printer my family needed!

This is my first inkjet purchase in 22 years, and the ET-8550 is exactly what we needed as a family. As an amateur photographer the photo quality is excellent while the large format printing is exactly what my daughter needs as an engineering student. Having three trays (main letter tray, photo tray, and large format tray) already loaded with paper at all times makes it a breeze for printing anything. Epson has mastered the inkjet, and it shows!

So far so good and that is great!

Too soon to tell if the longevity is there. I just retired my old Epson Photo 960 because I could no longer get ink, but it was close to 20 years old. I am not a person who must have the newest version of anything. I have not printed enough to show that the ink economy is there. But so far all is well. Setup went fast and easy. I would prefer a printed manual over the one on the web but that is just my generation... Prints look good. I am happy with the purchase.

SUPER PHOTO PRINTS

So far I've purchased four Epson printers over the years and this EcoTank Photo ET-8550 is by far the best printer I've ever owned. It's easy to setup and operate (I operate it from my Asus desktop). The photo prints are immaculate and since I'm an artist and painter, this is very important to me. I'm very, very pleased with this awesome printer.

The best all-'round printer using refillable ink tanks.

A technical marvel of automation from setup to printing. The image quality is astounding considering how so few ink colours can produce client-grade output on not only Epson papers, but also on 3rd party stock for which those companies produce ICC profiles. Whether a document or an image, the printing speed is more than satisfactory considering it's not a high volume production unit. Running a print job from an iPad/iPhone is seamless and the desktop photo printing app is easy to use and offers professional level features. One feature that sold us is the replaceable purge tank: so many printers in this category without this feature simply stop working when the tank is full - nothing can be done to fix them and the only option is to toss them into landfill! Ink tank levels rarely show any usage which is amazing which brings me to the biggest selling point for us - ink costs. NOW WE CAN AFFORD TO PRINT OUR IMAGES, THANK YOU, EPSON!!

Great printers!

I bought a second one of these because it is more economical than the other ink jet printers I own. A major selling point, though, was after I leaned that it can print 13 inches by over six feet long! Use the manual feed to do this. I made a really nice banner and am in hog heaven. I love my Epson printers!

The Ecotank ET-8550. Top of the class.

We've recently purchased our second Ecotank printer. Years back when they were relatively new we picked up the ET-4750 for all purpose home use and we continue to use it for most of our printing requirements. This time around we purchased the ET-8550 photo printer. With the photo quality available using our Apple I phones we wanted to start creating quality photographs for wall hangings, gifts for family and friends and preserving moments here today and gone tomorrow. We've owned photo printers in the past and missed having access to one in our home. Of the three brands we've previously owned Epson always came out number one so this time around it was the only brand we considered. Plus, since the introduction of the Ecotank series we've saved a small fortune in ink. We've considered this purchase for some time because we wondered about the photo quality using only six colors of ink. We finally had a chance to check out Epson's smaller ET-8500 up close at a friends house and view multiple photographs. They looked great. Our son uses a much more expensive, (over double the price), printer that utilizes more colors in ink cartridge format. I won't say the ET-8550 equals it's picture quality but it comes more than close enough. If you can afford a photo printer price nearing three grand or more and are willing to pay for an expanded number of individual photo quality ink cartridges as well as their replacement costs you will get better photo quality. If, on the other hand, you're living in the real world of "for home use" rather than meeting the needs of a professional photographer the quality of the ET-8550 is very impressive. Much better than similarly priced photo printers from competitive brands. Lastly, the savings on ink cost and not having to constantly use up time changing out individual cartridges is huge. Less interruption in work flow allows you to better focus on the task at hand. Creating high quality photographs.

Great Photo Printer for Most Photo Work

I have had this printer for 21 days now and are very impressed with the quality of the prints. These is my seventh Epson Photo Printer over the years the first one I purchased was in the mid 1990's. I got this printer to complement my Epson R1900, Expression Photo HD XP-15000 and my Epson Artisan 837. I also have a Charm 225 for printing on the road. I am looking forward to the cost saving of the Ecotank as I do all my own photo printing. I believe that the EcoTank Photo ET-8550 prints are as Artisan 837 but lack some of the gamma range of the R1900 and XP-15000. I am very happy so far and I am sure it will provide many years of great service.
