Great color
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I bought this a month ago, the drying cycles are great but I wish it had more options
Stuck dryer sheets
I purchased my dryer 4-20-2026. Dryer sheets keep getting stuck in the drum beneath the lint catcher.

Drying and venting issues
I recently purchased a new dryer and have been disappointed with both the design and overall performance. The biggest issue is the venting system. The vent connection feels poorly engineered, making installation more difficult than it should be, and airflow does not seem efficient. Even with a properly cleaned vent line, the dryer struggles to circulate heat effectively. Drying times are much longer than expected. A normal-sized load often requires two or even three cycles before clothes are fully dry, which wastes both time and energy. Heavier items like towels and bedding come out damp around the edges and need additional drying. The build quality also feels underwhelming for a new appliance. Some components seem lightweight and not very durable, especially around the lint filter and vent connection areas. For the price, I expected a much more reliable and better-designed product. Overall, this dryer has been frustrating to use due to the poor venting design, inconsistent drying performance, and excessive drying times. I would not recommend it unless the manufacturer improves the airflow system and overall quality.
Hello. We appreciate you sharing your experience with your LG DLG8401BE Dryer, and we understand how important strong airflow and consistent drying performance are for a gas dryer. When drying takes longer than expected, confirming the vent path is short, straight, and free of restrictions can make a big difference in heat circulation. Ensuring the exhaust duct isn’t crushed behind the unit and using rigid metal ducting can also help the dryer move air efficiently. You can review proper venting and installation tips here: https://www.lg.com/us/support/help-library/lg-dryer-proper-venting-and-installation-tips--1384530313229 If loads are still coming out damp, checking the lint filter housing for buildup and confirming the gas supply valve is fully open can support more consistent heating. Additional steps for long dry times are outlined here: https://www.lg.com/us/support/help-library/lg-dryer-why-is-my-dryer-not-heating-not-drying-or-taking-a-long-time-drying--1432223739634 We’d be glad to take a closer look at your unit details and help get performance back on track. Too Sensitive
Takes forever to dry. The electronic dryness sensor constantly interferes and slows things down or stops the drying. The exhaust is simply not sufficient to push the hot air out. I have a long run to the outside but have a booster fan that has worked well over the decades. Two previous dryers had no problem with it. The booster fan is working fine and we have had the vent cleaned as well but the LG programming is just too sensitive.

DISAPPOINTED
while it functions For the most part I have two major issues. The folding lint filter is designed flawed for the frame where the filter folds has broken twice in a little over a year with normal use just from opening and closing the filter to clean it. My other complaint is that for me the black control panel is very difficult to read and so easily fingertip printed. I would sacrifice some bells and whistles for knobs as controls. Lg has replaced the filter twice but now that my unit is over year old the burden will fall on me in the future. The filter needs to be re-designed.
Hi. Thank you for sharing your experience with your LG dryer. The way you described the folding lint filter breaking multiple times and the difficulty reading the black control panel gives a clear picture of how the LG unit has been working for you. Your notes about normal use, the repeated replacements, and how the panel shows fingerprints easily are especially helpful in understanding the day‑to‑day impact. HORRIBLE DRYER
Dryer ate my clothes for 3 weeks and ruined multiple pants and sweatshirts with string as well as zippers. Can't figure out the dry cycle to even dry the clothes efficiently. Lint containers has already ripped. I WILL NEVER BUY ANOTHER LG ANYTHING.................
Hi, Jennifer. We appreciate you sharing your experience with your LG DLE8400BE Dryer. We want you to feel supported with both performance and next‑step options, and your feedback helps us see what’s been happening on your end. When items show signs of snagging, confirming that the load size allows for free tumbling, ensuring drawstrings and zippers are secured, and checking the drum and lint filter area for any obstructions can help prevent fabric from catching while a technician evaluates the drum seal and filter housing. Horrible all around
Worst dryer I have ever owned and the washer that goes with it is even worse than the dryer. Nothing is ever completely dry after the first cycle AND the clothes come out VERY wrinkled. I have to iron every pair of pants that comes out of there (even dry fit comes out wrinkled) and if I didn't refuse to iron T-shirts, those would need be ironed as well. I have had this unit barely over a year. I will never purchase LG again and I'm counting down the days until I can afford to dump this and buy a new one.

Beware!!!!
If I could do negative stars I would. Don’t waste your time with this junk. It looks nice but will give you a d80 and d90 code every time. My one load of laundry has take almost 8 hours to dry because it keeps shutting down. And before you ask, this is a brand new home. The lint vent is perfectly fine and every other avenue as been explored. It’s just this hunk of junk that now I am out of money on because LG does not offer a trade up anymore. Go elsewhere.
Hi, Glennie. Thank you for sharing what’s been happening with your LG Dryer. We understand how important it is for a new unit to run reliably, and we appreciate the detail you provided about the repeated d80 and d90 codes despite having a brand‑new home and a clear vent. Feedback like yours helps highlight situations where performance isn’t matching expectations. Great evidence for why AI is useless.
Probably the greatest reason to avoid AI. Unlike non-AI, non-WiFi dryers you can't modify the default settings; you have to log in to the app and download a custom setting - and you only get one. The AI setting seems to know only 1 temperature setting - incinerate. Previous dryer was a non-intelligent LG - which worked great - I could pick a setting and modify it. Hopefully somebody at LG sees this and releases a S/W update that allows modification to the default settings. Otherwise this 2 month old dryer is destined to be replaced by a non-AI model.
Hi there, thank you for sharing your experience with your LG DLE8400WE dryer. The ability to tailor drying cycles is important, and this model gives you a few ways to adjust how it runs. Along with the AI Dry option, you can select manual cycles like Normal, Heavy Duty, or Delicates and then modify temperature, dryness level, and time to match your preferences. Creating a custom cycle in the ThinQ app also allows you to save those adjustments for quick access on the control panel. This guide walks through the available cycles and how each one can be customized: https://www.lg.com/us/support/help-library/lg-dryer-cycles-and-options--20152068325571 If you’d like our team to take a closer look at your setup or explore additional ways to fine‑tune the dryer to your liking, feel free to reach out to lgdigitalcare@lg.sprinklrsupport.com and we’ll be glad to help.
