I have used Turbo Tax Desktop for Mac for over 2 decades to file my returns. The ease of using the program has decreased over the past few years, and this year was by far the worst. Without the help of a particulary helpful Expert (Aretha), I would not have been able to correct the errors the program was generating in the forms. The program now makes it very difficult to go back and correct errors -- much less start a form from scratch - because is repopulates any form that linked to another form, regardless of whether that information is accurate. In one case, it allowed me to correct one entry, but not another - despite using the same steps for the same type of information in the same type of form. Trying to write this review is a perfect example - every time your AI decides to change the "suggested review topic" it hangs and removes letters I have just entered into this review. I am seriously considering whether to consider using Turbo Tax. I am NOT willing to do my taxes online.

I still like this program, but have the same "complaint" each year... While I know that the math is correct, I never seem to be able to feel confident that I'm covering ALL my bases in terms of my business expenses, etc.! TT used to offer an external review of the return; now they offer "live advice", but I can't see anything that tells me that they actually review my form! It's the little thing like that which keeps me from max-ing out the review.

Mostly I tried to use the help assistant and it usually provided useless information unless I managed the magic words. Generally ok if you know the form that something might be in and then you can jump there. The program is generally slow (partly by outdated computer), and I did have a glitch where TT froze and I had to restart because I didn't want to connect to the internet for an update check at the beginning of the session. And the "assistant" is very fond of commas as I was typing this... The import from financial institutions is very helpful as it would take forever to key all that information in. The post-process review prior to filing is also good. Finally, the text notification of the process of the return and acceptance for review is nice to know. I have not used the live chats or professional assistance this year, but I expect it to be acceptable if needed.

I've been using TurboTax since 2018, and every year I learn something new. Thanks to the entire team and the partners behind the product for turning a complicated subject into something simple for everyday life. You make the process easy for everyone. Thank you!

I have been using Turbo Tax for years and it is excellent. I like the way it walks you through topics. This is the first year I had some glitches - it insisted that I had a Canadian social security account. I have researched and there is nothing in my files past or present that would lead it to come to this conclusion. I had to keep deleting the reference.

The accuracy of the computations is most helpful and the compatibility of the Program from year to year assists enormously. I did not enter any questions as I prefer speaking to an individual versus typing questions due to the fact that "speech" provides better communication and prevents misunderstanding of inquiries' & answers' detail besides saving time. Additionally, I would like for Turbo Tax to re-institute the use of "Tutorials" as was utilized in earlier versions as I have been using the Turbo Tax Program since 2000.

Accuracy and help aids are great. Some new formats for accessing forms and data entry especially for personal income were a bit cumbersome at first but that was a minor obstacle. Covers virtually every tax situation you can imagine for the non pro. Just wish forms and worksheets from previous years carried over information with a bit more memory?

The desktop version was frustrating this year, especially for crypto. The online product has a much better import and automation workflow, while the desktop version felt clunky, outdated, and far more manual. It makes no sense that a paid desktop product would have worse crypto handling than the online version. The biggest issue was having to do extra manual work for crypto reporting that the online version seems to handle much better. That is a major downgrade in usability. I'm also unhappy with the audit defense offering on desktop. It appears to cost more than other options while offering less coverage than the web version. Charging more for shorter coverage makes the desktop product feel like a worse value overall. TurboTax desktop used to feel like the more capable option. This year it felt like the opposite.

Would be good to have a fully working version ready (or at least some preliminary version of the software) at the beginning of the year. I purchased TurboTax 2026 in Jan 2026 because I urgently needed to do estimations for my 2026 tax return (required for some of my applications). Surprisingly it appeared that some of important sections in the purchased software did not work at all so that I had to do everything manually. Required updates became available only in mid February. For the future versions it would be really good to have a fully working version at the beginning of the year .

The help files did not bring up information as it has done in the past regarding how to enter a specific document into the tax form. I was repeatedly asked to login then pay for accessing any information. I ended up using Google to find the answer- which was linked to a Turbo Tax file. I made sure to bookmark the answer for future reference.
