Mostly a good product, but each year there's one bug or another that sucks up all my time. It's not clear how to report the bug, and every year the options change about how to get a call-back for tech support. This year's desktop version replaced the "search" function with a useless robot... so, for example, if you wanted info on a particular form, you used to be able to type the form number into search. Now if you do that, a robot tells you that it doesn't know what you're talking about but wouldn't you rather read a bunch of forum posts on completely different things. The product is always so close but yet so far...

:( :( :( Decent product - but HATE/DETEST/LOATHE the absolute perpetual upsell of it. I'd rather pay more upfront than have popups and prompts throughout the session/warnings to upgrade. And guess what - if you want to EFile your state taxes, it's $25 more. Also, making it extra for online help is VERY cheap. For this reason, I probably won't use Turbo Tax next year. Overall, a decent product, if they got rid of all the annoying attempts to upsell throughout when you use it, it might be worth it, but right now - it's not. :( :( :(

I've used TurboTax for many years (probably top 5% of all your user base) and I love the product and have always found it useful and relatively intuitive. However this year (and I think last as well), I became extremely frustrated with having to enter information in my state tax return that should have been known by TurboTax. This created a lot of additional time flipping back to my 2024 return (128 pgs) looking for info and hoping I got it right. Yes, I know this is the 2024 return, but you accessed this return in order to populate my 2025 return in the beginning - so yes, you do have access to this information.

I've been using Turbo Tax for years and have not seen any improvements with features when entry errors are identified. It does not explain well why the error, how to fix entries and offer "specialized consultation service" to address specific or unique tax situations. I wasted over 2hrs circling around the application with a unique tax issue but was not able to override the corrections.

I've used Turbo Tax for over 20 years with no problems until I got remarried to a person who didn't have a Social Security Card. Wo I submitted a W7 for a TIN but had to do this through the local IRS office. I did get the TIN number a few weeks later and was left with the option of having to do video interview to verify my wifes identity. Which we had done when we went into the IRS office. We got an acknowledgement verifying her ID but Turbo Tax wouldn't allow us to resubmit and apparently doesn't have an automatic was to communicate with ID ME. After another IRS appointment we were told that we had to physically mail in the Turbo Tax 2024 paperwork to Ogden, UT. We did and our UPS Tracking confirmed that it was picked up at the PO Box. That was six months ago. We have not received any communication from the IRS about even it being received. After a couple of more months we set another IRS appointment and were told that we should just resubmit the electronic form. Unfortunately, the IRS wouldn't accept the form now that it is late 2025. So, I set another IRS appointment and they over the course of 1 year, even the IRS couldn't tell me where my Tax Forms were. They recommended that I mail it back in a Fourth Time. I came prepared with the updated form and the Portland Office mailed my form in. Moving on to filing for 2025 I'm stranded because one of the questions that is being asked is what my AGI was for 2024 and since the iRS hasn't gotten to my 2024 forms 2025 was REJECTED. Seems like a silly thing to uphold my Refunds. Turbo Tax has a long way to go dealing with Immigrants coming into our country legally and doing everything that they can to do it right we are getting penalized for Turbo Tax not getting the notifications from ID ME that should've immediately allowed us to move forward. In addition, holding up future returns because of the ADI question is absurd.

Love the ability and help TurboTax provides with filling taxes independently. I have used the desktop version in the past but my 2025 Mac system had some glitches this year that made some of the work through complicated with errors I had to manually fix in the files themselves.

Mostly I tried to use the help assistant and it usually provided useless information unless I managed the magic words. Generally ok if you know the form that something might be in and then you can jump there. The program is generally slow (partly by outdated computer), and I did have a glitch where TT froze and I had to restart because I didn't want to connect to the internet for an update check at the beginning of the session. And the "assistant" is very fond of commas as I was typing this... The import from financial institutions is very helpful as it would take forever to key all that information in. The post-process review prior to filing is also good. Finally, the text notification of the process of the return and acceptance for review is nice to know. I have not used the live chats or professional assistance this year, but I expect it to be acceptable if needed.

Lots of bizarre problems, including numbers without source data and forms that were unnecessary. Fortunately, your support team was able to resolve most of them, but HOURS of my time were wasted. For example, I had to go thru tax files back to 2008 to find the answer to a question about taxable income from a retirement plan just so Turbotax could repeat the calculations and get the same answer that was already printed on the 1099-R. This didn't happen in previous years. WHY DID YOU CHANGE IT THIS YEAR???

Accuracy: Instructions for some requested information is incomplete and/or incorrect (in particular, investment expenses are requested and are used in generating CA state return; however, there are important qualifications not included in the directions describing what should be entered). Compatibility: worked fine with Apple Silicon Mac Features: access to forms is very helpful in tracking down and understanding deductions Interface: interface is generally good; however, there needs to be better documentation on how to use it.

I had over 120 error messages in the final error check asking me "is this a digital investment". After going through basically all but a couple, I was asked "Do you have any digital investments?". That really annoyed me !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (Was aiming for 120 exclamation points, 1 for each error message) After taking considerable time saying "NO" so many times and thinking why I can't just say GLOBALLY NO, you ask me this question. "Do you have any digital investments?" Why didn't you ask me before I said "No" so many times. Be SMARTER with assessing error messages and allow us to get done more quicky. AI IS HERE. You should be smarter assessing error messages and getting through them.
