Loyal to TurboTax

I've been using TurboTax for years and I really enjoy it. Some things I have to be careful with and make sure I bounce back and forth between the forms and the walk-through guide but in general I am always satisfied. A really good comprehensive platform. I plan to use in perpetuity!

Importing Investments - needs accounts numbers

I had trouble entering interest and dividends from my Charles Schwab accounts. I have over 5 accounts. The import screen and the company title do not include the account number. I have a hard time verifying that all my accounts have bee imported. I also was able to enter 2 accounts twice. I am very unhappy with importing accounts from by stock brokers

TurboTax was a bit frustrating this year.

When I started my taxes, I had paid for and wanted to use TurboTax desktop. I was somehow taken to TurboTax online instead of TurboTax Desktop. After completing inputting all my information, I wanted to print my return to review it. That is when I realized that I was not in Desktop but on TurboTax Online and that it was going to charge me $298 for TurboTax Online instead of the $130 I paid for TurboTax Desktop. So, I had to loose all my work and start over with DeskTop. This was frustrating. I realize that I should have noticed sooner, but I also feel like TurboTax is really pushing the user to try to get them to use the online version. I don't like that.

Reliable and Efficient

I have been using Turbo Tax for decades and have always relied on it for great information not only with regards to tax changes, but also just giving me extra information with the helpful question mark next to everything. This year I felt like there were gaps or missing pieces of that extra information. I use TT rather than using an outside person because I want to continue to be knowledgeable about what I am being taxed on, how it impacts our life, and potential topics that I could utilize to be more efficient with our money. I was disappointed that with all of the changes, a simple link here and there wasn't provided to either the IRS.gov publication, or more information on things such as the Big Beautiful Bill. TT was flawless in its tech and usage. Each page/topic flowed into the next, however somehow it skipped over the Federal Review and I had to go back to it manually. Overall still a fan. Just don't take away the education pieces

Buggy version of TurboTax on macOS

TurboTax 2025 on MacOS is buggy. There is a well-known bug that took me an hour to identify & figure out a way to workaround: federal refund gets zero'd out when stepping through EasyForm on the Audit Risk step. I finally figured out a way to get around it & it seems that it is a well known problem.

Using paying customers as the Beta-testers

• Continually sends me emails recommending that I purchase Turbotax even weeks AFTER I have purchased and installed it. Similar to last year when I continued to receive weekly emails regarding late filing services 5-6 months after I had in fact, filed the return. • Schedule F: Failed to transfer 2024 farm income (as seen in the year-to-year comparisons) • Personal income section: Does not allow me to skip electronic import of investment data and go directly to manual input. Instead, it takes me to import, and when I enter “skip” it takes me to back to the initial page where it eventually allows me to manually enter the data. Very inefficient, and frankly wasteful and disrespectful of my time. Turbotax should have an up-front option to skip all electronic import and allow the user (i.e., the person who PAYS FOR this software) to manually enter data if he so chooses. o I note that in previous editions of Turbotax, there was a check-box with the option to stop asking the question. • Also, Turbotax added-in several “blank” or “Un-named” investment accounts which I am unable to delete. There is no data in these accounts, since they do not exist, but as a user I am not allowed the option to delete them. o Eventually I opened the “Forms View” and was able to delete the non-existent accounts. • On the screen “Other Interest and Dividends” TurboTax auto-checks for seller-financed mortgage interest (which I don't have) and does not allow me to un-check the box. • 1099-R: Turbotax imported the payer name for my pension, but it also imports the data from last year and does not allow me the option to update or edit any information for the current tax year. I was finally able to manually enter by going to the “Forms View” but it still won't allow me to edit information from the main “Step-by-Step” menu. o Eventually needed to enter “Form View” to delete the entire form and start again from scratch. • My state forms did not transfer my Federal pension exemption. Notes said to locate “Find” on toolbar, but there is no such term on the toolbar. Again, had to return to the “Form View” and delete the entire form, then re-enter the information. Once that was completed, the information was correct but there was no option to edit the data from the “Step-by-Step” screen.

Most frustrating year to date.

This is the first time I've ever had my tax return rejected (I've used Turbotax almost exclusively in the past 20 years) which I thought was over a pin that the program states I can "put any number". So that was rather perplexing. It was then rejected a second time. The AGI had been pre-populated, so this time I went and looked at last year's return. Why on earth would Turbotax place a random and unfactual number there? It was over by $14k, what's that about? Did they take the AGI from my joint state return and use it on my individual federal return? This is also the second year that I've had to file as an RDP. The process is not any less confusing than last year, and I still really dislike that I have to download software just because we have multiple returns to process. With all these advances in technology, one would think they'd be able to make the process more seamless. Honestly, at this point I'm ready to switch to an in person tax preparer for future years.

TurboTax is good, but.........

I've used TurboTax Home and Business for years filing single, but using TurboTax Home and Business filing married jointly is not exactly straightforward. My wife and I have small businesses and after I input her business information I then had trouble trying to find where to add in my business information. After struggling a bit I finally figured it out, but please make it easier for people to navigate to where they need to be.

Final Submission is tedious and aises all kinds of

The process to submit is ridiculous, with far more checks and approvals than seems necessary. Then after I hit submit finally, I get bombarded about every 1099 transaction, on whether it is a digital asset, and then looking for name and home addresses on every single transaction from my Chase account. That really sucks. What is up with that?

Charitable contributions section inferior to past

bring back Its deductible . This version of the charitable deductions took a lot of extra typing and mouse clicks. very ineffiencent. The past programming was superior. AI generated topics skipped key questions that were hard to find later for more complicated taxes
