I have used Turbo tax for nearly two decades. This is the first year has been the horrible. First, it pushes one to use the online version. You have to search to get to the desktop version. It offers a download. Nothing about cost. You do the download and it wants the license number from your purchase; only, there was no purchase. Looking for pricing provided nothing for desktop version. Purchased that elsewhere. Online version merely gives you a price range and a statement that you don't have to pay anything until you file. I am not a) putting my tax information on their server knowingly and 2) complete the whole process without knowing up front how much it is going to cost me. I am not fond of sticker shock. This is the first year Turbo Tax has felt more like a scam than a legitimate company. Stop trying to push/force us to do our taxes "online." I am strongly considering another tax process next year.

Buggy. K1s with Box 20 having "Z *STMT" lead to failure to e-file. Seems this is a QBI worksheet issue that TURBOTAX should fix. I know that the idiots in Congress write Tax laws that aren't logical and better yet they pass it on to IRS at the last minute, giving programmers too little time to get even basic bugs out. BUT, the $100 tax reduction that I spend 100 hours pursuing in NOT Worth it. So, whose fault is it. Congres, IRS, TurboTax probably. BUT NOT ME.

You seem to be moving the UI towards one optimized for phones and suboptimal for desktop. Giant buttons instead of simple items to click. Just making the buttons smaller would help a lot. I'm using a 24" monitor and the buttons are huge. I've using TT for many years and this is the first year where I felt your UI was making it harder for me. I can't be the only person left using a desktop system.

many aggravations. 1) was told to buy non-resident state tax returns when total income was $320 in that state, way below reporting threshold. 45 minute wait for customer service on the phone to try to resolve. 2) my son has 529 and all of distribution goes to tuition and room and board, which should be tax free. but 1098-T does not report room and board, so difference beween 1098-T and 1099-Q was reported as unearned income and taxed at my rate. no prompt to enter allowed payments not included on 1098-T. big undeserved tax bill!

2 items: 1. Why am I charged $40 to process the direct deposit refund? People have told me that they file online & don't get charged for direct deposit. What gives? 2. The program missed the IRS change of no more refund checks being issued. I file my son's return & requested a check. I got a letter from the IRS stating they can't issue the refund because there wasn't proper info for direct deposit as the IRS is no longer issuing checks.

This year version of Turbo Tax is horrible, I have been using this software for years because of the convenience and it has saved me a lot of time when it comes to preparing my taxes. Not sure who idea it was to change the software. This year I was unable to import or upload Turbo Tax returns from prior years and my 2024 Turbo Tax was saved on my computer. I am really disappointed in the 2025 version. If I have to manually input my information I might as well shop around for a cheaper tax software.

Really expensive. Topic descriptions are non-intuitive and not detailed enough. If something is unclear in form, it is nearly impossible to find where it is entered in the step-by-step. Errors with WA state tax - WA is no tax state, yet I was constantly prompted to do State tax.

This was the first year I found the software to be frustrating. You would get on a screen make a choice and move forward but if you changed your mind and wanted to go back to change the original selection that screen was no longer available. For example, I chose not to upload investment PDF or photo and enter it on my own but then wanted to go back and upload the file -- that option screen was no longer available. I'm sure that I could have searched for it but this is extremely frustrating. Also the software was not able to successfully connect to T. Rowe Price to get my info; said look for pop-up window or if you don't get a pop-up it has connected but it just sat there doing nothing.

All was good except imported data from Wells Fargo interest contained an erroneous MN state tax withheld of over $3,000,000. Because it was such a huge error, I was able to spot it and remove it. I don't know of this was a bank error or a Turbo Tax error.
