Very disappointed with TurboTax 2025 Home & Business. I have used TurboTax for years, but it seems the last few years there are more and more glitches in the software. For 2025, I was defaulted to "Standard Deduction" after entering itemized deductions and could not change back to "Itemized". I also did not have the option to use my Federal itemized deductions for my California state taxes. Hoping the 2026 software is better.

TurboTax generally works well. But there are annoyances. Examples: I live in a no tax state and I have already told the program we have no income from other states. However, TurboTax continuously asks me to download/complete/file a state return. It's irritating. Why do I need to sign onto TurboTax to use the scan your W-2 feature? The repeated sales pitches are also annoying, but I guess you have to expect that. I did file a state return for my mom. Even though Turbotax says a free state return is included, they don't tell you they charge you $25 to e-file it. Very sneaky.

I've used TurboTax since 2006. Each year they seem to build in more frustration points. This year I had one Crash of the program and 2 errors to fix that had no information relating to what was needed for the data being asked for. It did have a reference to a line in the 2024 tax filing, and my 2024 TurboTax file had nothing in that reference box. The second error was on a 1099-R that had a blank box 16. I had to go search the internet for that answer - you're supposed to put the amount in box 14 into box 16 as well. Oh, and one more big issue - I was not able to import any 1099-DIV's, INT's, or R's, and I've been able to do that in previous versions since it was offered. Looking these issues up on TT Support, I did not find any solutions to these issues. Looks like after 20 years I'll be paying someone next year...

Have used TurboTax since you first started. Love it! Only wish there was a more intuitive way to get answers faster. If I have a quick question, I end up having to use AI or Google now to find TurboTax answers. Maybe incorporating AI separately to answer questions would be nice.

turbo tax does not recognize the hotel pensions in California. The distribution codes for pensions are not explained or described. One has to research it outside of turbo tax. also, it is glitch. The USE Tax prompts errors. Terrible. Turbo Tax has gotten worse the past 3 years.

After so many years with TurboTax, I did get very frustrated this year. Several factors, including: 1- Deductions for non-child disabled elderly parents are no longer available, or so severely limited by the new government regime that only the rich and upper middle class can take the deduction. 2- It took me 2 days to try to get the forms transmitted since there was a 1095-A document that was not correctly completed by the respective insurance company, causing a loop in the software. 3- Re: #2 above, I contacted the live support and back and forth removing the form, reloading it several times, finding that the 3 columns need to have correct data, but PENNIE only entered columns A and B. 4- Live support was excellent, and I strongly suggest using the team since our corrupt government is too busy stealing from the poor to enrich the billionaires, as they continue to remove deductions for the poor and middle class.

Each year my California return has been found to be in error. I hope it works out this year. CA LLC: Also, I'm sending CA $1700 for form 568, and also 800 and 900 for two other forms. In the past, CA has refunded my 1700 as duplicate. Not sure what's going on. With the assistance of your call-in line, we found where to select that I had an LLC, it was hidden pretty well. Please bring that forward into the Business section next year. I'm happy with the e-filing processing, and the general formatting and data collection and review.

I would rate this a -5 if you let me. The software was terrible this year. - Bank integration did not work, foreign tax credit not working properly, buggy software that needed reboots. - Solo 401K tax credit was NOT recognized by the UI and needed to enter manually via Forms mode.

Every year I use TurboTax, and every year I'm disappointed by the lack of improvements and places where it obviously should be able to calculate or import information, and it just says "enter this yourself" . I also dislike the prodding to use the online product or pay extra for simple questions.

This year Turbo Tax was not able to transfer one of my tax documents from JP Morgan Chase brokerage account via desktop version. Customer only has a choice of restarting all over again with the online version to get it to read and transfer the downloaded pdf 1099B that Turbo Tax can't see and transfer from Chase. Other files are fine, just one account that was closed in 2025 that has tax documents that Turbo Tax couldn't access. I had to print and mail the form 8453 for form 8949 after manually entering the summary of sales/costs. I have use Turbo Tax for over 20 years, but it's time to try a new tax software! Very disappointed!
