Turbotax used to be much easier to use and navigate but isn't anymore. I called for assistance because I had separately purchased two state returns several days ago but didn't file right then and saved my progress. I came back and the system would not recognize the downloads for the two state returns and forced me to purchase them a SECOND time in order to file. So -- I was charged nearly double (the purchase price the second time was for slightly less than the first time). I contacted support and they helped me to get to the Intuit purchase area to find the downloads, but did not understand why Turbotax wouldn't recognize the downloads. One screen showed the state returns were there and directed me to click on them so I wouldn't be charged, but then forced me in the next screen to pay for them again to proceed. It seems to be a glitch in the system. I'm extremely unhappy with the product at this point!

Been using Turbo Tax for many years. Wouldn't want to use anything else. It's nice to be able to populate my current years return with past information instead of having to start over every year. One recommendation would be to allow for the option to call a Turbo Tax representative and ask a question without having to pay to do it. Even if you were limited to a certain number of questions that would be okay. Sometimes with all the changes it would be nice to be able to know you are a phone call away.

I had a large number of charitable deductions to enter into the program. As I reached a high number of entries the system to a point where the program just about crapped out. It took several minutes for the system to react to a single key stroke. I upgraded to the personal/business version and I was able to enter the rest of my charitable deductions without a problem. Several other issues: (1) When entering a number in the charitable deductions section if a typo error was made, it was not possible to backspace and eliminate the character - I had to go back and delete the entire deduction and re-enter it (very frustrating); 2. If you enter donated item data and then enter mileage data, and then come back and try to enter another donated item, the system will not let you do that. You must first eliminate the mileage entry, then enter the donated item data, and then re-enter the mileage data. In previous years you could enter individual trip mileages and associated costs associated with those trips. Lumping all of the mileages together simplifies somethings but it does away with specificity. (3) The categories of donated items are very limited - many things can be donated, such as garden related items, such as home grown produce, purchased topsoil, seeds, etc. (4) the entire program is inadequate when it comes to easily including items purchased by volunteers that are used in performing volunteer activities, i.e., seeds to grow garden produce for donation, printer cartridges and printer paper used to conduct volunteer related paperwork, etc. The only way these things can be currently is to put them in the donated category (of which the categories included in the program do not line up easily with the items (definitions of intangible property or tangible properties are never defined and or they just do not seem to meet what would be definitions that line up with so many things used by volunteers when they perform volunteer activities and which they pay for out of their own pockets. Rest of program is ok - the charitable deductions section really needs some reworking.

I encountered an error based on a depreciated asset (vehicle) that was traded-in. I attempted to use the help with no success. I turned to ChatGPT to analyze captured images with the error referenced. There were several corrections / multiple attempts required to get the AMT and Depreciation to balance.

I appreciate the carry forward of repetitive information from year to year. It does make it easier when not to go hunting for previous information. It is also helpful to have the comparison inputs from the previous year to make sure inputs are not overlooked.

The software works well and does a fine job of walking you through the return topics. The features I use are generally there and work without much drama. Using last year's data is great. I feel pretty confident that I got all the data into the right place and that my return is accurate. I especially like downloading investment info from my brokerage company - that's a big timesaver. However the download process worked well with some (Charles Schwab),, but not others (Chase and Victory Capitol). I couldn't download anything from USAA at all. Fortunately I was able to work around that without too much problem. One other suggestion - the "Continue" button located at the bottom of each entry screen causes a lot of wasted motion, especially for longer pages. It is inconvenient for track pads. Electronic filing works well, although I continue to be annoyed that i have to spend $25 to file the state return. But overall, TurboTax worked well for my situation (retiree with a spouse with her own small business, brokerage accounts and deductions). And things improve marginally each year.

Glad to have assistance from a person at the beginning of our return because there was confusion because of the Microsoft 11 requirement in order to do the tax on the computer after downloading so we tried to use TurboTax Online when asked to try it. We said yes because we have paid for the turbotax using the TurboTax Family KEY to begin the product. We weren't allowed to do the taxes online because TurboTax would not show our 2024 Return online although we could see that Turbotax has a record of us buying it last year and the one we purchased this year kept only letting Claudia be the one filing instead of allowing it to be JOINT filing like all the other years. We entered all the data again ourselves using the prior year that we kept and somehow it transferred some of our data. AI WAS A NIGHTMARE IN TERMS OF SENDING US THE PAGE RELATING TO ANY QUESTION WE HAD. WE HAD TO OUTSIDE OF TURBOTAX TO GET ANSWERS. AI WAS A LEAST 75% WRONG AND OFFERED NO DIRECT LINKS TO THE PAGE WE NEEDED.

I like the help with walk thru, but this year was more difficult to finish and I have used ur software for years. I also had an error with the annuity section that turbotax inserted a number automatically, but at least the smartcheck found the error and asked to fixed it. So final papers were correct.

TurboTax is great however I do not appreciate that every few years we are forced to buy a new computer because in the latest version you have written code so that it will not work on our older computers. The refund I am getting will just cover the cost of the new computer I had to purchase to use the 2025 TurboTax. And no my returns are too complex to use your online TurboTax product. I have to use the Home and Business version.

TurboTax ultimately produced what appears to be a correct return, but the process felt far less transparent than financial software should. Several issues reduced confidence: Required fields appearing only after hidden method selections (standard mileage vs. actual). Repeated prompts for information already entered. Significant state tax swings after running updates, without clear visibility into what changed. “Best case” comparisons that introduced additional workflow loops instead of clarity. The software is powerful, but much of the calculation logic operates as a black box. When material numbers change by thousands of dollars depending on update sequencing or hidden checkboxes, users are left assuming correctness rather than understanding it. Greater transparency around calculation drivers and update impacts would materially improve trust.
