Good for everyone who does not have a K-1

Generally easy to use and no problems with entering the data. The only exception is that I have to input data from a K-1 every year and this form tends to be late and then I always have an issue with the various boxes that I need to complete. It would be easier if it had simple box entry like the information from a 1099 or W2. Also the need to complete two K-1s in the system if there is information in Box 1, Box 2 and Box 3 is very problematic since the K-1 we receive does segregate the information for each of these boxes.

Dont use for Rental Property

Software is painfully slow when entering or editing assets in the depreciation section for rental properties. It has gotten slower every year regardless if I use the online version or the desktop version. I'm going to have to switch to a better program for next year.

Expect extra charges for anything state related

Way too many button clicks and too difficult to search for specific forms. Also, there are so many random charges that pop up; charges for each state return, then charges to E-file those state returns and it won't add your available credits if you pay by credit card, but if you want to pay using your refund there's yet ANOTHER fee. They also charged for a state return for our business partnership but only filled out like 5 lines in that form and required us to print and mail it in; it actually added more work for me to find the areas that needed to be filled in and to print the form and manually fill the ones I couldn't fill using turbotax.

Very good, but every year a new glitch or two!

Turbo Tax is generally good. I've been using it for many years. One year I tried another software and didn't like it, so came back to TT. There are always a few glitches/bugs, for example in 2024 when filing my state return (Oregon) TT failed to include all the necessary forms for filing when I went to print out a paper copy to file. Last year this worked okay, but this year the Federal forms Oregon needs were not included. Luckily, I knew that Oregon needed then so I just printed then out separately. If I had been in a rush I might not have noticed they were missing. This issue is new for the 2024 tax year software. It worked fine last year for my state filing and printing PDFs so save.

Turbo Tax Sucks ! - It used to be good though

I have been using turbo tax for about twenty years. I always buy the DVD version but this year it isn't available. In addition, since I have a form K-3 and some other interesting stuff this year, Turbo Tax told me that I need to MANUALLY PRINT AND FILE form 8990 and 461. Isn't that why I bought TurboTax ? ... and stop pushing your advisory and audit protection service. I hate people trying to sell me stuff. I already Paid you enough.

TurboTax is OK...

Little problems never seem to get solved even though I report them -- particularly with treatment of foreign tax paid/withheld in brokerage accounts (it assumes only one deduction/country per account). Would like more information/explanation of limitations instead of searching for it -- i.e. income limits for personal deductions, or limits for the qualified business income deduction. The program always gives me an error message for incomplete form 1116 -- lack of explanation. The explanation information is pretty standard and it seems it could be automated, or at least give me more guidance on what the problem is or where it is located.

Windows 10

I just received an email reporting that you would not support Windows 10 for 2025 returns. That's very disappointing! Especially for those of us that will be signing up for Windows 10 extended (for one year) security updates. Your failure to continue service of Windows 10 will require many of your customers to either drop further use of Turbo Tax or purchase a new computer. In my case, I was intending to extend the windows 10 for 1 year and then update my equipment later. So much for Customer Service!

TurboTax Needs to Go Back to Its Old Program!

The changes made to TurboTax from the 2023 program are NOT at all helpful. It is much easier for those of us who have used the program for years NOT to make changes to the inputting scheme. It was harder to find topics and to find help. Additionally, had I not spoken with a FANTASTIC TurboTax Customer Service Rep (a 25+ year accountant), I would not have known why only a portion of my changes had not transferred from 2023. The reporting/printing scheme is terrible! I want ALL of my worksheets, yet there is no choice for that unless I go into each form that has a worksheet or extra documentation I input.

Improving internal links in the program.

You need to improve discussions and page links for complex topics, like sale of houses that are neither rental nor owner occupied. You should improve headings and links for all topics so that users can more easily find their way back to all topics that were just used used. Please consider adding more links to all topics that are being addressed by a particular user, adding user-specific links dynamically as the user addresses particular issues. I had good service from expert advisors, including especially the advice and entry help I got from Michelle after all the data was complete but practical advice on submission to IRS still badly needed.

Improvements needed

I had a hard time working with TurboTax this year. We had nanny taxes for the first time and it was very non-intuitive. I would like to see a summary of the values in each section so I can see which section I should enter. Also, when I enter each section, the previous answer I gave should be the default answer to that I can go through a section quickly. I've had a really hard time with the refund number at the top changing dramatically and I have no idea why. Also, please stop the spinning numbers. I find it really annoying and waste of my time. Instead, provide the number before the thing I just changed, the change in value, and the new number. That way I know that what I did was good or bad. Specifically, we had some small foreign tax paid and there was an option to enter it on a different form, so I click on "try it", but then the tax bill went up by $2K and I had no idea why or how to put it back the way it was!!! I decided to exit without saving as an act of desperation. But then I had to re-do everything since the last save. It would be better to have a journal of changes so I could back them out as needed. In general, please stop hiding things from me. Do your best to show me more rather than hide information behind another layer of questions. Ideally, show me the decision tree and help me navigate it.
