Turbotax has become more confusing and frustrating

I was constantly confused by popups advertising Turbotax options that i was not interested in. Also signing in was confusing on account of many layers of identity verification. And using my NY drivers license data was also confusing and (necessary ???). There also seemed to be pages and pages of small details printed out when the most potentially confusing information was handled simply by automatic transfer of details from my main financial organization.

Turbo Tax its okay

The product is getting quite expensive for a digital download and now that there is no physical media involved you should be able to drop the price also the crypto currency section is hard to find as this is a new type of financial asset there should be a dedicated button to take me to this section.

Pretty darn good. Some time in dev would be great.

TT has been my go-to for years. But it could do better on a few things. There are places where I'm asked to compute things but it seems TT has all the info to calculate it itself. TT struggles a bit with the idea that I live abroad. For example, in the efiling section it askes for the billing address for a credit card, but accepts only US and Canada. Generally the state (at least OR) experience is much less rich than the US--not as slick and obvious.

TurboTax is getting worse every year

TurboTax is getting worse every year. Last year I spent a lot of time talking to people at TurboTax about identification numbers for foreign income (pensions). There is no way you can enter that and nobody at TurboTax has the foggiest idea on how to get that. Foreign countries do not have such id number! GET IT!!! This year it was the same problem. It required a CUSIP number for 1099 INT, but that did not exist. Many years ago, TurboTax worked really well, but now it is a piece of trash!!!!!!!! A lot of things are very poorly explained. Without the foreign id numbers which do not exist, you CANNOT file electronically. I will probably stop using TurboTax.

No. No. No.

You've made it impossible to choose to file my state taxes by mail. It's an endless loop to nowhere. Unless of course I manually get out of the Filing process and manually pick and choose the forms to print. You have no problem constantly trying to get me to pay to e-file, or to buy additional services, but when I've wrapped everything up and want to print paper returns it's a nightmare.

Desktop version is great!

I love the desktop version because of the additional flexibility. Last year one of the Turbo Tax reps that I talked to suggested that I use it instead of the online version because of the complexity of my return. My only complaint is that I couldn't attach the required pdf to my Nebraska state return.

TT Activation code software bug ignored

After using TT for almost 20 years, this will likely be my last due to an apparent bug in the software requiring a reactivation code randomly on the same and only computer my activation code is used. There are several comments in the community forum over several months regarding this and Intuit has not corrected the issue via software update. Unfortunately, I have used 3 activation codes on the same computer over the process of completing my taxes this year. Shortly, I will exhaust the 5 codes allocated to the license and the software I paid for will become unusable. I have no desire to waste my time calling support and be sent thru numerous, push 1 for ... and 2 for ... to discuss an issue that I believe should have been corrected months ago. Whatever metric they are using to identify the unique device installation appears to be incorrectly identifying new installations on devices.

highly recommend the expert tax advice service

takes a while, but worth it; if you prepare your taxes, you pick up so many things you might have missed; I paid the $60 for the expert tax advice and it was well worth it. I highly recommend that service. Just makes things easier, and the call back was always prompt (< 3 minutes) and the experts were thorough and patient; great overall experience

Turbo Tax Needs to Correct Certain Items

All Good except for two areas. Software would not permit entry into into K-1 Box 1 and 2 together. Had to prepare another K-1 to enter the non rental income from box 1.Also I was not able to file Form 8990 based upon items in my K-1 identified as K in Box 13 Other Deduction. It is my understanding that I will need to file an amended return later with this information manually.

TurboTax is Great but Can Always Be Improved.

I had to pay more than $1000 after using TurboTax and the program set up the necessary payment via withdrawal from my bank account, which is all well and good. Since this tax underpayment leads to prepayment quarterly for this year (2025), it would have been a real assist if this could have also been set up during the finalizing of the return. This prepayment and the underpayment of last years taxes, could all be authorized at the same time when completing the return. Now I'll need to do this separately..
