Downloaded information from broker. Information for RMD was downloaded incorrectly. This is the first year this has happened. It I had to enter everything myself, which was very tedious. I hope this is corrected before next year I worked with your expert on the phone who was very knowledgeable and patient. Thank heavens for her.

Can be better

The product does not always keep field you have checked .. Checked when you go back through. Plus the continue button/ yes/no button are moved around on the page. Many times below the bottom of the page. It may be due to font size on my computer but many of us are older. May be to help prevent someone from hitting it by mistake but people that have used it before understand how it works.

Still has some challenges.

Fairly easy to use, but still has a few issues with more complex financial conundrums like 1099-R RMD transfers between financial institution transfers and finding things that may or may not appear on actual printed forms, Case in point box 16a on a printed form is blank. in order to avoid an error for 0 value, I had to open forms and fill in what the actual RMD was because the error said the value couldn't be less than the state tax withheld. Go figure.

You have messed up TurboTax

I had a great deal of trouble entering information from 1099B forms. Program took me around in circles & would not let me enter 1099 B information. There was no way to go back. I made a mistake somewhere else and could not go back to fix it easily. In previous years, I did not have these issues.

Triple entry of Investment Dividend 1099 data.

Under Wages and Income my Investment Income Dividend's from my broker were filed under Interest Income, Dividend Income, and Investment Income. This implied that they were being entered three times into my income rather than once. This was confusing and caused me to do a lot of study before I determined that they were not entered three times.

Useful tool but needs to get with the times

In general, massively helps slim down tax filing every year and is especially useful for highlighting boxes I missed (e.g. CA use tax) that would have otherwise flown under the radar without auditing. There's a lot of data collection particularly on what is ostensibly the splash page of the application (a direct button to create a new form would be a lot better - and as a yearly customer I've already filled out that form, whatever information you require from me for news/updates you already have, come on!) A particular pain point this year is that the e-file Intuit charge has to go through an Intuit account. Generally speaking, the app does a good job of suggesting creation of an individual Intuit account to streamline the process while not making it a requirement - bar the final step which requires an account and credit card just to view the billing statement. But even looking past this, the payment portal itself is somewhat out of date and requires direct plaintext input of credit card information, commonplace online but becoming more and more outdated as the years go by. It's also a risk factor for tax filers operating on insecure networks. It would be great if future versions of Turbotax supported payments via digital wallet, to guarantee long-term data security.

Long time user, first time reviewer!

For many years I have depended on Turbotax and until this year would have given a 5 star rating. The 2024 solution had a few bugs, and didn't handle the state correctly ( manual file. ) There is a tarnish on the crown.... Still usable -- took 10 times longer.

Turbo tax has a few problems to fix

3 Problem areas 1) I kept getting a warning message that my Roth IRA withdrawals from 2024 might be taxable (Even though Turbo Tax know that I am 72 years old and my Roth IRA is much older than 5 years. 2) During the Minnesota state filing return, I kept getting an error that required me to fill out the M1QPEN form (even though I did not fill out any public pension information) 3) After e-filing my return, I did not get a screen prompt to print my tax forms for my records

Turbo Tax is great!!

I have used Turbo Tax for a long time. Probably ever since it came out. We had rental property for years and it made it easier than doing it manually. We have stocks and being able to download from the broker is great. The first few years I would check the downloads, but it was always perfect. Now I just accept it. I have always done my own taxes, even worked for one of the big name chains one season and saw how easy it worked. Turbo Tax may have come out the next and I thought I could do it with just a little help.

Useful for tax filing but has inconsistent UI

One star off for inconsistency question/answer patterns. Some times it gives a list of checkboxes that includes a None of the above option. Other times it provides a list and asks Do any of these apply Yes/No button. And it often fails to store selections for when you return the next time to the same page. One star off for the pathetic Oregon state form help on screen. Fed forms has links to help beside many of the options so you can learn what the label or phrase is talking about. But not so for Oregon forms. Very limited help info for Oregon form options. Otherwise the product easy steps walks you through. I do think there are several places in the Fed forms where it asks you questions before they should have. Then you come to a disqualified question that negated the need for the earlier questions to even be asked. Please organize the questions in the order of importance so downstream questions are skipped if earlier questions indicate no need for the later set of questions. I do like the ease of jumping to the Forms view from EasyStep and vice-versa. For those who don't know, when you get errors during the checking phase, it will give you super vague error messages as to what is missing but no context! But clicking into the Forms view will take you to the referenced form and item number to fix. When you know that, it's convenient. When you don't know that (they don't tell you in EasyStep) it can be frustrating wondering what they are talking about.
