- 2 out of 5 stars review4/6/2025It's absurdly slow, it's buggy, it crashes, the updates take forever. State returns in particular are poorly implemented. A lot of the imports are broken (Schwab and Intuit have been having a stupid slap-fight and blaming each other for a decade now). It constantly tries to upsell you on premium features or services like "audit defense" that you probably don't need. BUT. It's still miles better than any of the competition - taxact, freetaxusa, etc, they're all just abominable in comparison.
The best option around, and still terrible
BobbieDoleOriginally posted onturbotax.intuit.com - 5 out of 5 stars review4/14/2025This covers everything about tax filing that I have to deal with. I like the desktop product over the web-based one since I have much more flexibility and freedom to make manual changes if necessary and easily go back and forth between the actual forms and step-by-step instructions. My favorite feature is the document import. My life would be so much harder without that.
TurboTax Premier get the job done
Jimbotron1959Originally posted onturbotax.intuit.com - 3 out of 5 stars review4/15/2025If I have to pay a CPA/Tax Consultant for tax planning, why would I then pay Intuit to file taxes the following year? Turbo Tax Premier lacks the functionality to due tax planning for the current year!! Because I used it to file 2023, but no help in tax planning 2024! My wife's Roth Conversion cost us 171% more than estimated in September 2024.
OK for filing 24, but no help in tax planning 25
Must Find a Better WayOriginally posted onturbotax.intuit.com - 3 out of 5 stars review3/2/2025I think it is pretty sneaky the way you hide your Audit membership for a FEE of $45 and then make it so that it is almost impossible to go back and find it again once you realize you've just been duped! I been a Turbo Tax customer since the 90s. I'm really disappointed that you've gone to such underhanded and sneaky tactics to improve your bottom line. Maybe some of the other tax prep programs might be a little more honest won't be as crooked as TURBO TAX has become. I think I will check them out in the future!!!
Watch out! Turbo tax is after your wallet!
EX long time customerOriginally posted onturbotax.intuit.com - 3 out of 5 stars review4/12/2025You really took a step backwards this year. The investment import and presentation on your screens is very poor. Also, there's no way to tell if the information was imported once or twice. Search was horrendous also. I searched for how to delete a (duplicated) form and got no help at all from the search function. Fortunately, I clicked through all the choices at the top of the tab (file, print, view, etc.) and found a "delete form" choice. I also searched for "IP PIN", but the choices were quite cryptic. I'm thinking of changing next year because the product is moving away from user-friently.
TurboTax takes a step back!
Dennis 1950Originally posted onturbotax.intuit.com - 3 out of 5 stars review4/6/2025for the most part using turbo tax was easy. However, for a personal business, the form stated if you don't have a business name leave blank. I don't have a business name or a business code. This prevented me from efiling. WHY? Why do you ask for payment before you do the final check to see if there are errors that will prevent efiling? This is frustrating beyond imagination! You took my money but I can't efile. If this is the same for next year, it will be my last for Turbotax.
Aggravating error! Business name requirement
TD0wOriginally posted onturbotax.intuit.com - 2 out of 5 stars review2/18/2025Experience on a Mac is a joke. Looks like you haven't updated it in years. You don't take advantage of the available screen and seem to squeeze the content into a small column. I needed to edit about a dozen stock sales and took 30 minutes to realize the edit icon was hidden "off-column" on the right side and scrolling with the mouse didn't work, had to actually use the cursor key. This was after I started a new return thinking something got screwed up with the first. Will be looking for other tax prep software next year.
UI Looks like how taxes were done in 1990
0gqhwfgihawgohasgfoOriginally posted onturbotax.intuit.com - 5 out of 5 stars review2/27/2025This was good until filing the E state. I was confused on the payment for the E STATE since I had to pay on the Federal , but had a credit on the State. And the last form for using the turbo tax account had no "back" button . Otherwise , the file was exellent.
Turbo Tax E State
Copper 24Originally posted onturbotax.intuit.com - 3 out of 5 stars review3/21/2025TurboTax software was more difficult for me to operate this year. It took me several iterations to separate the amount of the RMD that was included in the gross distribution on my 1099-R. The Program more than once suggested that I utilize the tax expert. My idea of using TurboTax has been to avoid outside expertise. .
Love/hate Software to Prepare your Taxes
Star StumperOriginally posted onturbotax.intuit.com - 4 out of 5 stars review2/22/2025Overall, a good experience again. Straightforward questions and answers. I did notice one bug this year, and it's relatively minor. I retired in 2022, and last year I received a W2 from my former employer for some residual income. This year I did not receive a W2 and deleted it from my Worksheet. When I did that, Turbo Tax removed all traces of income related to last year. Much of the information which compares 2024 to 2023 went to zero. While this didn't affect my return, it was mildly annoying.
Still a good product
WHS44Originally posted onturbotax.intuit.com - 4 out of 5 stars review3/29/2025I have used TurboTax for >15 years, so have a reasonable amount of experience with it. It gets 4 stars - a "Good" rating - because two programming errors have cost me several days of unnecessarily wasted time. When preparing 2024 federal taxes, TurboTax failed to import some 1099's from our accounts at Fidelity Brokerage (although they were included in the list of downloads). Other uses appear to have the same issue. Furthermore, the new interface for investment income makes it difficult to see what forms have been populated until you click "Done with Investments". There was also a mysterious discrepancy in capital gains that persisted several days, then just as mysteriously resolved itself. TurboTax's other painful glitch arose wi...
Good & useful product, needs more thorough testing
ProbabilityGuyFanOriginally posted onturbotax.intuit.com - 3 out of 5 stars review3/2/2025I've used TurboTax for many years. This year has been the worse! None of the automated features work. Could NOT import broker information from my financial institution. Could not PRINT pdf files. Just keep getting a warning tone. I checked TurboTax reviews and many people are having the same issues.
TurboTax Not working as expected
Not ApplicabOriginally posted onturbotax.intuit.com - 1 out of 5 stars review4/14/2025TurboTax assured me that I had completed all necessary steps in order to e-file my federal return. My IP PIN was filled in correctly, and my return was rejected twice because my "IP PNP is missing". Um...no it is not missing and is filled in correctly. Now I must print out a gazillion pages and snail mail them to the IRS. And I paid to e-file a state return, but cannot e-file it because my fed return was rejected. Dissatisfied customer. Work the bugs out TurboTax.
E-filed return rejected - twice
Simmering13Originally posted onturbotax.intuit.com - 3 out of 5 stars review4/3/2025DISLIKED THE 40 MINUTE UPDATE TO PROGRAM I USED THE DAY BEFORE. THERE IS STILL A PROBLEM WITH THE QBI ENTRIES - THE INFO IS PUT IN BUT STILL COMES UP WITH AN ERROR THAT IS IMPOSIBLE TO FIX. WILL NOT EFILE WITHOUT THE FIX. COST $600 BECAUSE I HAD TO DELETE THE QBI TO GET RID OF THE ERROR. NOT THE FIRST YEAR THIS HAS HAPPENED.
NEEDS SOME WORK
WANT THIS OR NOTOriginally posted onturbotax.intuit.com - 2 out of 5 stars review4/16/2025I continue to use TurboTax because it possesses a continuity that flows from year to year. But the app looks like something from 40 years ago. It's probably running on COBOL. Every year I use TurboTax, I reach up and try to use my touch screen to move the display, only to remind myself, for the 800th time, that TurboTax is not Windows based. And 2024 was probably the worst year ever. TurboTax tried to rework the 1009-INT and 1099-DIV function. It was a TOTAL DISASTER. Navigation was almost impossible. I would click on INT and get sent to DIVs. I easily wasted 2 hours fighting with the INT and DIV entries. The old format would have saved me 90 minutes of hassle. This part of the information input area needs to be seriously FIXED. The 2024 v...
Data input is a DISASTER!
DallasBrantleyOriginally posted onturbotax.intuit.com - 4 out of 5 stars review2/23/2025need much better 1031 support / info - not always clear how to do things. also there was no 24.5 amortization option (only 25 and 27.5) - not sure if that's the latest but online research seemed to indicate that deferred gains should be amortized across 24.5 years. could be wrong?
Good but could still use some improvements
TurboTaxJunkie2020Originally posted onturbotax.intuit.com - 4 out of 5 stars review3/20/2025Spent over 2 hours with your help. Could not get my problem fixed. Several people involved. Third person Rick fixed my problem, very simple for him to fix in 10-15 minutes. It was wonderful for me to get someone to handle and fix my problem. Thank you Rick.

Steve 1941Originally posted onturbotax.intuit.com - 3 out of 5 stars review4/14/2025everything was ok EXCEPT the Restricted Stock income section is not nearly as clear and straightforward as in the past. My employer included the RSS as income in my W-2 and i received a statement at the time of it being released to me that stated exactly the stock price at the time of release to me, how many total shares, how many (plus $ value) were withheld as Federal Tax, State Tax, and local municipal tax. The 1099-B did not show any of those taxes being withheld. Turbotax should just have a series of simple questions to help straighten this out: 1. Did your employer include the RSS award in your W-2 income? 2. If Yes, were Fed, State, Local taxes withheld from the award? 3. If yes, fill out the amounts for each in the following boxe...
Restricted Stock Income 1099-B section sucks!!!!!!
GGG427Originally posted onturbotax.intuit.com - 5 out of 5 stars review2/13/2025The program is easy to work with and covers all of the topics that need to be entered. I will definitely buy it again next year. It helped that it brought in all of my information from last year so that all of my rental property information was already there.
Turbo Tax is Easy to Use
Anne2801Originally posted onturbotax.intuit.com - 3 out of 5 stars review2/14/2025I was constantly confused by popups advertising Turbotax options that i was not interested in. Also signing in was confusing on account of many layers of identity verification. And using my NY drivers license data was also confusing and (necessary ???). There also seemed to be pages and pages of small details printed out when the most potentially confusing information was handled simply by automatic transfer of details from my main financial organization.
Turbotax has become more confusing and frustrating
