Turbo Tax is not awesome

Product is not intuitive to use, too many clicks to get to the schedules, search functionality could be improved and for the second year in a row, I'm unable to pay for state filing. Both payment methods (credit card and deduction from federal refund) were unable. I will have to file CA state tax via mail.

TurboTax Makes Taxes Less Taxing!

I've used TurboTax for many years and would not even consider another tax prep software! I have some tax literacy but TurboTax makes it so easy even a novice could get through it. It's INTUIT-ive and aesthetically pleasing from a user standpoint. And I've had great success with importing W-2s and other information to streamline the process. Wouldn't head into tax season without it.

Turbo Tax 2024 was Frustrating

I had a very bad experience with the product. I have an unusual situation which includes 17 state returns. I spent 3 hours with a wonderful support person, who strived to help me with e-filing my federal and three state returns. After trying many things, we deleted the software and reinstalled the software, then removed all states. We were able to transmit the federal return. However, the return was rejected due to a typo in one of the SS#s. After I made the correction of the SS#, I reran the Review and to my surprise, there were 141 new errors. Our names and social security numbers fell out, the names of the partnerships, addresses and FEI#s disappeared, I had to key descriptions, date acquired and date sold for the capital gain activity (the amounts of the sale and and purchase price) were still there. After clearing the 141 errors, I tried to re-efile and kept getting "Not Responding" messages and could not get to the efile screen (tried 5 times). I was able to use the same software in the prior two years, without issues. This has been a very frustrating experience associated with payments of $880 for the federal and state software..

Turbo Tax messed up this year

I have been using Turbo Tax for over a decade and never had any problems. However, this year Turbo Tax lost all my files during a SW upgrade which required me to re enter all information again, wasting several hours. And in the end the results were very different. I still can't go to each specific area to update it. Very very disappointed in this years SW.

Leaving TurboTax

Don't appreciate you forcing me into Windows 11. The further Microsoft gets from Windows 7, the worse their software gets. This is the second time you've done this to us. Will resume buying Taxcut for 2025 as there is only a few dollars difference between the two of you.

Nice Crypto Upgrades for Turbo Tax

I like that there are more options to connect my crypto transactions. I see that the uploading of the CSV file didn't error out. These improvements made my Filing Easier. There are some nags, but that's just to make sure you are entering the information correctly. I also like that I can connect my Turbo Tax Software with my online account. That's a PLUS! Audit Defense is always good. I found the process to be quicker this year and more precise, the Turbo Tax Lay out is not as busy and easy to navigate. I felt confident using Turbo Tax because there is no additional charge to talk to a live tax professional if I get stuck. I used them last year, they were a hit and miss, but usually a HIT! I didn't need them this year because I got very familiar with Turbo Tax and hope they don't change a thing. if anything, just add more automatic connections to Crypto Exchanges to Turbo Tax, like Uphold and a few others.

process to amend sucks!

I always liked the program however I need to amend my 2024 return and am having a terrible and time consuming process trying to figure it out. The help video does not show the same screen I am getting. When I log into my return there is briefly an amend icon, but it is dead, i.e. clicking on it does nothing

TuroboTax dropped the ball when it came to filing

My 2023 return was filed late and had to filed by mail. It was done in Turbotax before starting my 2024 form. When I tried to file my 2024 form, it was rejected. I check with the IRS and the AGI from 2023 had not yet posted. However, Turbotax did not flag that and said only to check the AGI, even though it had the filing date for my 2023 return, which was only a few weeks earlier. It apparently does not keep track of current dates because it encouraged me to efile my 2023 return even though it was well past the deadline for efiling. So I waited until my 2023 AGI was posted on the IRS website and tried to efile again, but it was still rejected, even though it was correct. Apparently the IRS did not have my AGI in the right database yet, even though it was posted under my personal account. Nevertheless, Turbotax came up with the same AGI from my 2023 return (which matched the one the IRS had posted) and encouraged another efiling. I had already wasted $50 and decided to file by paper but was left feeling like I got fleeced by Turbotax for the efilings because they charged me each time, even though both were rejected. A person should have to pay only once until the return is accepted.

Terrible eFile experience

my return this year is similar to last year. But you can not efile this year return, saying form8958 has more than 40 entries, which is completely false. Have already paid state eFile fee, so you should refund my payment. The software is unreliable, often giving error messages which are not correct. Not sure if would use again next year.

TurboTax makes errors that can not be fixed.

If a rental property somehow gets marked as a royalty property it is impossible to bring it back to the correct type. This happened t me on a property that a properly marked and reported for many years. then one year its type got changed and I could not get it changed back. Reentering everything made no sense as 10 to 20 years of depreciation was in the file and no way was I going to reenter that data. So bad news.
