Great at first-dryer features need improvement
At first this dryer was great, now it seems to not dry things completely no matter what cycle it’s on. We have to run it multiple times to get our clothes to dry. We’ve done the vent cleaning and wet sensor cleaning and nothing seems to help.
Hi, Mikayla. We appreciate you taking the time to share your review regarding your LG DLE8400BE Dryer. Thank you for letting us know that the unit performed well initially, and we want to ensure it continues delivering optimal performance for your laundry needs. Since you have already completed vent and sensor maintenance, another helpful step is checking the drum temperature settings and verifying that the moisture sensor bars inside the drum are completely free of fabric softener film, which can affect cycle sensing. You can also explore additional performance tips outlined in our official guide at https://www.lg.com/us/support/help-library/lg-dryer-why-is-my-dryer-not-heating-not-drying-or-taking-a-long-time-drying--1432223739634?srsltid=AfmBOor1nE_kQMEPJMTyt5eTTYeJVISvAnB8W2xIK4UkG3Uz5Zsoycds. Drying and venting issues
I recently purchased a new dryer and have been disappointed with both the design and overall performance. The biggest issue is the venting system. The vent connection feels poorly engineered, making installation more difficult than it should be, and airflow does not seem efficient. Even with a properly cleaned vent line, the dryer struggles to circulate heat effectively. Drying times are much longer than expected. A normal-sized load often requires two or even three cycles before clothes are fully dry, which wastes both time and energy. Heavier items like towels and bedding come out damp around the edges and need additional drying. The build quality also feels underwhelming for a new appliance. Some components seem lightweight and not very durable, especially around the lint filter and vent connection areas. For the price, I expected a much more reliable and better-designed product. Overall, this dryer has been frustrating to use due to the poor venting design, inconsistent drying performance, and excessive drying times. I would not recommend it unless the manufacturer improves the airflow system and overall quality.
Hello. We appreciate you sharing your experience with your LG DLG8401BE Dryer, and we understand how important strong airflow and consistent drying performance are for a gas dryer. When drying takes longer than expected, confirming the vent path is short, straight, and free of restrictions can make a big difference in heat circulation. Ensuring the exhaust duct isn’t crushed behind the unit and using rigid metal ducting can also help the dryer move air efficiently. You can review proper venting and installation tips here: https://www.lg.com/us/support/help-library/lg-dryer-proper-venting-and-installation-tips--1384530313229 If loads are still coming out damp, checking the lint filter housing for buildup and confirming the gas supply valve is fully open can support more consistent heating. Additional steps for long dry times are outlined here: https://www.lg.com/us/support/help-library/lg-dryer-why-is-my-dryer-not-heating-not-drying-or-taking-a-long-time-drying--1432223739634 We’d be glad to take a closer look at your unit details and help get performance back on track. Can't fix it.
The dryer makes a rattling sound. LG has sent repairmen twice but have not fixed it. I have been waiting for over a month for them to line up another repair. They are ignoring/stalling me. I would NOT buy this dryer, and frankly I am beginning to doubt the quality of LG appliances.
Hello, Chuck. We appreciate you sharing your thoughts regarding your LG Gas Dryer DLG8401BE. We recognize your experience with the noise levels and service scheduling for your unit. To help identify rattling sounds, ensure the dryer is completely level on all four feet and check that loose coins or clothing fasteners are not tumbling inside the drum or lint filter area. Don't fall for the bells and whistles.
This is the worst dryer we have ever owned. I regret buying it. Owned it 2( mid January -mid March) months and the heating element went out. We were told we have to have a professional vent cleaner come out first to check if that was the problem. We did that and it wasn't. LG has done nothing to rectify the problem besides string us along with promises of hearing from a dryer specialist. If I could give less than 1 star I would.
Hi, Jasmine. We appreciate you taking the time to share your experience with your LG DLE8400BE Dryer. We want to ensure your appliance operates effectively and reliably heats your laundry. As a brief troubleshooting step, please check your home's circuit breaker to ensure both fuses or breakers dedicated to the dryer are fully turned on, as a partial trip can allow the drum to tumble without generating heat. Unbelievable
For the amount of money paid, my husband and I are extremely disappointed and upset that we can not use this dry properly. We’ve had it for 2 months and from day one, It will only dry on the download cycle. All other cycles presents an error message D80. We’ve had a professional inspect the exhaust duct and everything that pertains to the air flow. No lint or buildup at all. This dryer is the absolute worst.
Hello. We appreciate you sharing your rating and feedback regarding your LG DLE8400BE Dryer. We recognize your experience with the D80 error code display and cycle operation, and we want to ensure your home setup functions reliably. To help clear airflow reading issues, ensure the lint filter is thoroughly cleaned before each cycle and verify that the exterior vent flap opens freely when the unit runs. Disappointing
The dryer looks nice but dries much worse than my 18 year old LG that it replaced. Clothes come out wrinkled and the lint trap is ruining any clothes that have a drawstring by eating it and pulling it apart. I was able to request a new lint trap and cover but replacing it did not solve the issues and they were supposed to reach out to me but it’s been over four weeks.
Hello there Hayden, thank you for taking a moment to share your experience with your 7.3 cu. ft. Ultra Large Capacity Rear Control Electric Dryer DLE8400BE. We understand you mentioned wrinkling, drying performance, and that replacing the lint trap and cover did not improve the drawstring issue, and we appreciate you letting us know. We understand how important it is for your dryer to care for your clothes the way you expect. Your DLE8400BE includes helpful features like AI Sensor Dry, Precise Temperature Control, and multiple drying levels designed to support even, gentle fabric care. HORRIBLE DRYER
Dryer ate my clothes for 3 weeks and ruined multiple pants and sweatshirts with string as well as zippers. Can't figure out the dry cycle to even dry the clothes efficiently. Lint containers has already ripped. I WILL NEVER BUY ANOTHER LG ANYTHING.................
Hi, Jennifer. We appreciate you sharing your experience with your LG DLE8400BE Dryer. We want you to feel supported with both performance and next‑step options, and your feedback helps us see what’s been happening on your end. When items show signs of snagging, confirming that the load size allows for free tumbling, ensuring drawstrings and zippers are secured, and checking the drum and lint filter area for any obstructions can help prevent fabric from catching while a technician evaluates the drum seal and filter housing. The absolute worse
This washer and dryer combination is the worse laundry product I have every used. My clothes come out of the cycles looking awful, full of hair and lint. I hate it and wish I could return both. It was very expensive and I will never purchase or recommend LG products again.

Does not work with Propane
If you are looking st this dryer for use with propane, do not buy it. Contacted LG and they told me to contact installer and propane company. I did and both verified everything seemed ok with their part. Lg was no help. Don’t waste your time and money on this as it does. It work with propane.
