Ideal for Smaller Home

This generator was easy to assemble and the instructions were well documented. The generator started right up on the first try. I plan on installing a transfer switch to allow for easy connection to the house. I will definitely recommend this generator to my family and friends.

Easy

This is the first portable generator I have owned. Setting it up was easy and it ran the second time I tried. The first time it didn't run because I didn't know how to use the choke properly. It's loud but I'm looking forward to staying in my home during the next extended power outage rather than having to scramble to find a hotel room.

Excellent Generator

Just Purchased a Westinghouse WGen9500DF, Shipping was great, arrived undamaged in perfect shape via Pitt Ohio. Setup was very easy, just install the wheels, stands, and add oil. Started right up on propane and runs great. It’s quieter than I was expecting which is a plus. I would recommend this generator to anyone looking for a portable home backup in case of power loss, will run my whole 1,100sq. Ft home.

Awesome Product

I have researched a number of generators in the last year and decided to purchase the Wgen9500DF, for several major reasons. Powerful unit, runs on gasoline and LPG gas, affordable, sturdy, nice design, great features, 3 year manufacturer warranty. Came well packaged and no damages. It was very easy to install the never flat wheels and stand. I am already loving this product and very happy with this unit and believe it is the right choice for my needs. I can't await to see it in action, in the next power outage or storm event.

Great instructions for easy setup

I bought this generator a week ago to supplement my other solar powered work station.I was concerned about being able to get it setup and running but found the instruction manual well written, making in easy to setup and get running. I ran it both on propane and gasoline without any problems.

Great bang for the $$$, awesome power and value

I live in Florida and figure that with the way 2020 is going to so, we're likely to get blasted with hurricanes all summer long, and my 6250/8500 generator of a different brand is not going to cut it for my family if we lose power for an extended amount of time. So I sold that unit and purchased this beast. First off, this is a great value, I looked at similar capacity generators from all the other major brands and this is the best value for power and overall features. The unit was delivered to my driveway and after unpacking I was able to put the wheels and feet on in a matter of minutes. I followed the instruction manual for adding oil, connecting the battery, pairing the remote, etc. I added about a gallon of fuel for the initial break-in. It started up pretty quickly - the starter had to crank it about 5 or 6 times before it fired initially, but it has started on the 1st or 2nd crank every time since. My initial impressions are very positive, it appears to be a very well built unit. It is noisy, but all non-inverter generators are noisy, and I actually think it is slightly less noisy than the older, smaller unit it replaced. Next step is to have an electrician install a transfer switch, stock up on beer, and then we are storm ready, and the beer will stay cold through it all!

Great value in a nice package

I recently purchased the WG9500DF for a limited whole house pickup. I did a little figuring and a lot of research on several different brands including some at the local big box stores/hardware stores. I am a buy once cry once kind of person so I only wanted to do this once. So here we go. Easy to assemble right out of the box very simple with minimal loose components to be added. Wheels, front pads(4 bolts) and add oil/fuel. Battery is plug and play. Reading through the manual I followed the break in process for the whole 5 hours using a 1500w smoker on high and a compressor with a prescribed leak(barely cracked the tank drain) along with a fan and 500w halogen light. That way between the thermostat on the smoker and the prescribed leak on the compressor I got varying loads on both legs of the generator for the whole 5 hours at random times. Everything worked flawlessly. Let the generator cool for about 2 hours, checked all fluid levels. Hooked up to the manual transfer switch and began the test. At one time had my 1/3hp well pump, water heater, 3 1500w oil heaters, normal amount of lights on in the house. Lights in 2 outbuildings. 400w hps area light running and it chugged along perfectly. Turned the water off and turned the oven on while the water heater was still working and never got above 40 amps on one leg. 37 on the other. Wood heat so that is not a problem. Seems well built. Good features. Best bang for the buck as far as I am concerned. Disclaimer: this is not a quiet unit if that is an issue. If electric heat I would step up to the 12.5kw generator of the same make and line. Also be sure to pay attention to the potential drop if you’re going to run propane. You won’t have the same out out as gasoline. And dont forget the fuel stabilizer if this is going to sit in storage a majority of the time. Hope this long winded review helps…

Portable Generator WGen9500DF

This generator came highly recommended by my colleague. I must say, I'm completely satisfied with my purchase. I had an electrician install an inlet box (50amp) connecting to my Electric Panel. This generator is able to power the majority of my house, including a 5ton ac unit. Overall, I give this generator 5 stars.

Good start so far

I have not installed the manual transfer switch to the house, but playing with the generator has went good so far. It started on the first try attached to propane, I have not put gas in it yet. The features associated with it seem to work fine the remote start is a nice feature.
