Great Generator

I purchased this generator to run my home in the event of a power outage in Oklahoma. This has already come to serve us in a 3-day power outage from the Father's day straight-line wind storm of 2023. The generator will run my inverter AC, plug 2 fridges, computers, TV, well pump 240v, and misc devices simultaneously. The only thing it wouldn't run is my electric hot water heater so I shut it off at the broker when we are running on the generator. I am very happy with this generator so far!

WGen9500 Generator

I purchased and just recieved. It was very easy to put the wheels on and it came with the correct amount of oil (1.1l) to quickly add to the generator. After connecting the battery (through a connector), I added gas, hit the start switch and on the second try of the auto start, it fired right up. I was impressed that it started so quickly right out of the box. The remote start works great and I was able to start it from the comfort of my house.

The WGen9500DF Totally Rocks!!!

I purchased the WGen9500DF a month ago in preparation for a possible brush with a hurricane. We got lucky once again with no loss of power but will be well prepared for future storms. The generator came by freight and arrived in an undamaged box ( A rarity for me). Upon opening, I was happy to discover that it was well packed and in perfect condition. The wheels were a pretty simple assembly and in no time was ready to fire up. Not wanting to deal with gas in the tank at this time, I decided to hook it up to my propane tank. A push of the start button and in 3 automatic start tries it turned over. Frequent starts since are firing on the first go around. At 50 feet my decibel meter app registered in at 63db. It is much quieter than I expected. I have since run it on propane with minor power draw for around 5 hours. As of yet it no issues. The remote fob has an incredible distance range. I have started from over 100ft away. One thing I did notice on this generator that I don't recall reading in my search was the auto choke on it. No need to manually set the choke when using the start button or the remote fob(Wife friendly). I spent a lot of time researching generators before making this purchase. I can honestly say this generator meets all my expectations and then some. The fact that my wife can use this with me not around.... Bonus! If you are teetering on the fence with this one... take the fall. It won't dissapoint.

Generator worth the money and peace of mind.

This will be a lengthy review and I am in now way being compensated or have any affiliation with Westinghouse. Start with delivery and unboxing: they delivered as promised using XPO, who I had never heard of prior. They were very personable and took good care of the generator prior to and during delivery. They placed it exactly where I wanted in my garage. A+ on delivery. Next assembly and set up: I followed the manual exactly. If you read carefully and FOLLOW THE DIRECTIONS” you will see the entire quart of included SAE 10-30 oil needs to be added to the generator and they even include a funnel which I did think “what a nice touch”. Everything went smoothly and there were a couple things I noticed. 1. There is a cut off valve on the fuel line for the gas. I would recommend never getting a generator without one because when you are done using your generator you should cut off the fuel and then let it run until it uses all the fuel in the carb so it does not crystallize prior to you using it again. 2. It was so easy to switch between gas and propane, also well explained in the manual. 3. Battery was already charged but they included a battery charger with this model that plugs into a normal 110 outlet and then plugs into the faceplate on the generator to top off the battery. In the owners manuals it states not to leave it plugged into this charger as it is not a trickle charger and may overcharge the battery if it is left charging more than 8 hours. ANOTHER GREAT UNEXPECTED ADDITION. 4 The pairing of the key fob for the auto start was a little weird but, again, if you follow the directions exactly even though it seems weird it worked the first time. 5. It included the wheel and handle kit unlike a lot of other generators I previously priced and researched. Nice size and sturdy wheels as well. Starting: 1. I used propane and I used the auto start. The first time it did not start on the first or second attempt but fired right up on the third and I think that is normal because the fuel had to make it to the motor. 2. Although it did not start on the first crank it had an auto feature that it automatically tries 3 cranks before failing and turning the start/stop indicator to red indicating a start failure. I only pushed the button once. Great feature!!! 3. I love the counter that shows usage to help you determine when to service. Things it came with I was unaware of: 1 a small tool kit 2. Quart of 4 cycle motor oil 3. A fully charged battery 4. A 6.6 gallon main fuel tank for gas which should give you around 12-14 hours of run time. The only negative thing and I hate to mention it because I feel like I am wanting to eat my cake and have it as well. The generator is noisy! It is a 12,500 watt generator and is going to be loud, but be prepared to use some longer cabling and extension cords to get it away from you. We are using this generator to power our home during hurricane and cold weather power losses here in TX. VERY HAPPY WITH THE PIRCHASE!!! It is definitely big enough to run the whole home heater, all three refrigerators, and one freezer as well as all lights and entertainment as well. Advice: if you are using it to power your home speak to your electrician before buying a interlock kit as different breaker boxes use different kits. Great job Westinghouse

So easy at seven year old can do it!

Our Westinghouse generator over, arrived on time and was easy to set up. It is so easy to start that my seven-year-old can do it grateful we have us now that we’re coming into the freeze season when we lose power a lot

Great giant for the price

This generator is excellent in handling power outages compared to more expensive ones that cannot handle what this one does. I ran it today with 2 freezers and a refrigerator hooked into the 30 amp feed. I connected each one per the manual and didn't even hear any surge as they were connected. This tells me the generator is powerful. It also has 4 20 amp connections as well

Good generator

Shipping was fast, got it and tried it on my st switch it would not work called Westinghouse they said it was probably the controller modular they are sending a new one. I have a 7500 Westinghouse it works great. I just have to wait and see if the part works on the 9500 when I get it. But all in all, these generators are verry well-built and work great.

It does it all

I have been researching generators for over a year and now have decided due to an abundance of power outages at my home that this would be the time to get one. This WGen 9500c was the perfect fit for my needs as well as affordability. I added an Interlock kit to my main entrance panel and the outside plug as well. I am now confident that the next outage will not be so worrisome especially in wintertime. Everyone should consider an alternative power source for their home. Regards David Morris

Did not start

I bought this just a couple of months ago. On first start in a power outage it failed to turn over, which is a hard first impression to overcome. Gas line was open, tank was full, battery was full strength. In short, I followed the manual. Hopefully Westinghouse will make this right and stand behind their product, but until then, it's a hard Do Not Recommend.
