Well Rounded Machine

I bought this a few months back. It took about 12-15 cranks to get it started, but after the fuel finally made it through the system it started right up and runs every time I push the button. Easy to change between gas and propane. Happy with my purchase.

Everything I wanted at a good price

I purchased this generator because of frequent power outages in my area. It has electric start and I love that it can run on gasoline or propane. It starts easily and runs fairly quietly for a generator this size. I am running it on propane because I always have a couple of 20# grill cylinders in my storage shed..

So Many Thoughtful and Important Features

I read some of the prior reviews before I purchased this generator. I received the generator in good condition, lots of protective padding - I've had a few generators and my initial observation was how well and thought out it was. Some examples - outlets protected with rubber covers - battery charging port - HD sealed bearings in the wheels - battery disconnect plugs (new improvement not in manual) - fuel filter located for easy access - solid built fuel fill cap with internal screen - multi-meter display - easy access grounding lug just to name a few. This is one sturdy unit. The manual is very well written, complete, and easy to understand. Some additional points - the oil bottle provided will fill the generator to just the minimum fill level. I added some additional oil. The added battery disconnect plug is wired so the hot connector is not shielded. (not a safety issue just a preference) The generator runs at full speed all the time - a no load idle switch would improve fuel use. The manual could include a page with some sample wattage use examples. (ie Toaster 800w - Light 60w - coffee maker 200w ) Overall this is a well thought out unit. Glad I found it and got one.

We're ready!

We just went through six days without power from Hurricane Beryl. We had to stay at daughter's house as they have a generator. We told ourselves that we'll get one. After thorough research, we settled on Westinghouse 9500 TriFuel for multiple fuel options. We just received it and we'll get it through the break-in. We had a power inlet box installed. We still have a small tank of propane gas. Next would be to get a plumber to install a natural gas connection.

Fantastic, but...

You cannot use it as a standby generator. The RUN switch cannot be left in the run position with the motor off. If you do, the battery will run down. In the run position I'm told that a trickle charger should not be used. The big reason why I bought this was to avoid having to trudge outside in the middle of as snow storm to get it started. Granted, it then is just the flick of a switch and a push of a button, but I'm telling you, the snow and ice storms around here will require full winter garb before getting to the generator. On top of that, I'm recently disabled, leaving my wife to this task. Both she & I thought it was going to be started from inside. Major disappointment. Theoretically, I could hard wire a leg of the run switch to inside the house. Then I could control it all from inside. But, I'm sure Westinghouse will consider this a violation of sorts, and void the warranty. I'm having an electrician out to the house to get his opinion. What it comes down to is this: Why have a remote start key fob if you need to go to the generator first in order to use it? Now the good stuff. Once it's running and hooked into our transfer switch, it powers along without a hiccup. Well pump comes on, and the motor doesn't even hint at strain. The unit, for its weight, is relatively easy to roll around. Controls, outside of above mentioned obstacles, are well laid out and easy to understand. Dual Fuel. Ahhhh, very nice. In the future I will be running on a dedicated propane tank, but for now I'm on gasoline. The same electrician will be installing a service interrupt automatic transfer switch to replace my manual transfer switch. This is going to be great, once I figure a way around the fact that this generator can't be left in the power-up ready position. It is not a stand-by generator if you have to stand by it to make it run. What good is a remote start remote start if you have to walk to the generator first?. I'd like to see any one argue against that if you were in my shape. I can barely walk at this point.

Heavy duty, runs great

Overall, very pleased with this generator. Easy to follow instructions, easy to use and runs great. Seems heavy duty overall and power was as expected. I can actually run central air across two condensors, my fridge, dishwasher, tvs, lights, etc. My only complaint is that the wheels could be better and heavier duty.

Praying for a power outage!

I invested in a 50amp gen outlet for my home, this model fit the bill to power my whole house. I'm disappointed and surprised Westinghouse doesn't offer a NATURAL GAS conversion kit as an option for all DF generators. I'll have to seek a kit elsewhere. You could make thousands of customers happy if you produced one as an optional buy. Short-sighted IMO.

Awesome value

I bought this product after going through numerous power outages. I had my electrician put a plug on the side of the house so we could operate our kitchen appliances, freezer, master bed bedroom and bath and garage door opener. Very pleased with this product.

Great generator

I bought this about a month ago. The directions were simple to follow and it took about 30 minutes to get this unit assembled and running. Started on the first try and seems to be a quality unit. I am confident I will be ready for the next power outage.

Easy to Operate

I bought this generator during a period when we were having multiple blackouts. I am so happy I purchased this product not only because it provided our home with ample power during the outages, but it was so easy to move and operate. In addition, the manual was very helpful and thorough.
