Great features

Just received it, haven’t had a chance to use it. Bought it to power the house in case of power outages. I have fired it up to test and had no problems. I like that it has enough outlets for multiple appliances or whatever you want to power. So far so good, I recommend the generator, well made to.

Just saved us from the power outage after Debby

Decent generator, it was powering our house for around 6 hours and burned about 2/3 of the propane tank. Two caveats - it is a bit too noisy, and the power input was a bit uneven, so the APC UPS was constantly reporting distorted voltage and switched back to battery.

Easy setup and love the remote start.

Easy setup. Added oil and fuel and it started right up. Remote start works great. The battery maintainer is very useful since it may sit for weeks unused. Bought this generator to run the whole house during frequent power outages. And it does no problem.

Had all the features that I was looking for

I bought this generator because it was dual fuel and had two 240-volt receptacles which were requirements I had. I chose Westinghouse because it is a well-known brand name and a friend of mine has a Westinghouse and is extremely happy with it. The remote start is a cool feature. I had to call into Customer Service to answer a question about setup. The representative was extremely helpful and easy to understand. Excellent service.

WGen9500DF

Purchased the generator for emergency home use when power is lost. The generator was well packed/protected and easy to assemble. The operating instructions are clear and simple. It even comes with a remote key fob just like my car. In the event of a power outage, I am ready.

Great Product!

I bought the WGen9500DF for a backup generator for my home and camp. The generator arrived yesterday and was packaged very well, so no damage. First impressions while on boxing...this is a good-looking generator and looks to be well made. I followed the instructions for assembly which was quite easy and straight forward. I also followed the startup procedures which was also straight forward. I used propane to start and run the generator to test it out and started on the first crank. First, I started it from pressing the start button on the unit and it started right up. I let it run for a while then I stopped it from the button on the unit. Then I started the unit with the remote and it started first try and again I let it run for while then stopped it. Finally, I started it with the pull crank, and it was surprisingly easy to pull start and again it started right up and I let it run for a while. On the last test I plugged in some power tools and ran them to make sure everything was work and the gernerator never missed a beat. This weekend I plan to run through its paces and hold loads on it for up to 5 hours to break it in. So far, this is a great product that looks good, starts and runs good, not too loud, and is not that heavy to move around.

Comes with everything you need (except gas)

Was delighted to find all the tools I needed to put it together and a full liter of oil to boot! Instructions clear. Minor unknowns in the booklet cleared up quickly with the toll free help line. It is a large and heavy unit but moves relatively easily with handle and provided wheels. Started up first try with full power. I also purchased a 30 amp 4 pronged 25 foot cord with four twenty amp outlets. Both unit and cord worth the purchase. I appreciate the dual fuels with cleaner burning propane more easily stored and without the need of fuel stabilizers to counteract long storage of current gasoline products.

Great Generator

Had power outage due to a brush fire in the hills. PG&E performed an emergency shutdown and our neighborhood was out of power for 6 hours. Used this generator and it did its job for back up power. Connected via Transfer Switch. This was recommended by an electrician. Generator is loud, but it’s reliable, easy to start with button and easy to follow instructions. I’m happy with my purchase and glad I have this around. You just never know.

Does the job - but wayyy too loud

I purchased this as a backup for my home. The Good News: I had an electrician wire up a lockout switch for me and I've tested it with the 50 Amp circuit. It works and powers my A/C for a 2 story home. Yay! Also, it starts very nicely both via button and by key fob. Great! The Bad News: This thing is soo loud. My dB meter shows 83 dB at 20 feet. And it's a "mean" sounding 83 dB. I'm a musician and I'm used to sound which is much louder than that. But this 83 dB is painful. Furthermore, that 83 dB was *at idle*. Once I hooked up the generator to my home and the A/C came on, the sound level went up approx. another 10 dB and stayed there. 93 dB at 20 feet?! Think about that carefully. OK so that changed my plans. I thought I'd put the generator between my home and my neighbor's home. But my neighbors are close and I can't do this to them! So I had to create a partial-box to put around the generator to decrease the noise. That was a lot of work, and it's inconvenient. What can I say? This just isn't acceptable in my opinion without some kind of noise abatement. Please understand that I have had a couple generators before and I regularly use generators. This one is so much louder than any of the others. But this one also is more powerful. Another annoyance: The wheels are positioned badly. My 50 Amp plug is a right-angle plug and the cord runs into the wheel. Look at how the 50 Amp plug is postioned and you'll see why. So I have to bend my cord around the wheel, and that puts tension on the plug & receptacle: not good. I wish they'd put the wheels on the other side. In spite of all of that, I'm very happy to have a working solution for future power outages.

Dual fuel and remote start, Great feature

I purchased the WGen9500DF September of 2020 and has been great starting and running when doing the normal maintenance. I purchased the generator to handle power outages and am very confident it will not disappoint me. Highly recommend this Westinghouse generator.
