[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The Kidde Water Leak + Freeze Detector is a smart device that can alert you to water leaks and freezing pipes. About the size of a hockey puck, it can be placed under sinks, toilets, or near pipes to monitor for water leaks or freezing pipes. When it detects a leak or a hazardous temperature for a pipe, it beeps once every three seconds and sends you a notification through Kidde's mobile app so you can take appropriate action such as calling 911 or another emergency number which you can specify within the mobile app. I had trouble connecting the device to my Wifi network. Kidde gives you the option to scan a QR code on the device and connect through that, but after following all the prompts, the app searched for device before stopping with a message saying no device found. After trying again and again, resetting the device by removing and reinserting batteries, I finally managed to add this device manually using Bluetooth and selecting the detector through a list of available Bluetooth devices. Once I managed to add the device to my Wi-Fi network, I found the app very intuitive and informative. After testing it by shorting two metal contacts on the back of the device (by placing to metal objects on them), it sent me a notification through the app. All in all, this is a good device to have around the house, but Wi-Fi connectivity could definitely be improved.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This device is great- very easy to set up and connect to the app. While we have it placed in the basement where any water would collect from the furnace pipes/water heater, its size makes it appropriuate to place in nooks/crannies where you may be worried about small leaks. Definitely recommend, esp. if you have furnaces/water heaters in basements that can only be accessed from outside and hence you are never down there unless there is an issue. Having this alert the minute there is an issue gives us peace of mind - a few years ago (before we had this) we had a piper burst over the summer down there which flooded the entire basement and we only caught it because we happened to go down there to put something away. This device will ensure a leak or burst pipe never gets to that point again.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] So far I'm really glade i got this. The app monitoring is very helpful. I added my wife to it so she can receive any alerts as well. Easy to use and set up. Tells you the temp so you know if you need to worry about chances of freezing pipes or not. I put it in a spot with known leak and it did its job letting me know there was a leak.

Seeing as how I don’t trust their handy work, I bought this thing to help monitor it. So far it seems to work as advertised. I can check the temperature in that area as well as receive alerts if it does flood in there. The peace of mind has been worth the buy.

Installed this detector in the laundry room as we just had a leak from the washer as the hoses were not connected correctly. This unit worked great at alerting us before any major damage was done. I would recommend having one of these in your home. Saved us lots of costly repairs.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The Kidde water leak/freeze detection is a real improvement over the basic leak detectors. It will warn you wherever you are through your phone. Use this for as many detectors/properties you might want to monitor (user guide says 20 per network). Set up was. A quick test demonstrated it works well with a message notification on my phone, detailing device name and location.

Can't get the battery cover off to even start using it. Had to use a fork to get the screws out because they kept sinking back in. Then there's to tab to remove the battery cover. A very thin crack, can't get anything into it. Tried pressing all over, nothing. I'll have to return 2 of them.

Luckily I haven't had a leak or freeze, so I can really speak to its accuracy at detection for those types of things. If you want to use the cool features that go with this, you have to use their app. It'd be nice if they had an open API so it could be compatible with other apps.
