[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The Kidde Water Leak + Freeze Detector is a smart device that can alert you to water leaks and freezing pipes. About the size of a hockey puck, it can be placed under sinks, toilets, or near pipes to monitor for water leaks or freezing pipes. When it detects a leak or a hazardous temperature for a pipe, it beeps once every three seconds and sends you a notification through Kidde's mobile app so you can take appropriate action such as calling 911 or another emergency number which you can specify within the mobile app. I had trouble connecting the device to my Wifi network. Kidde gives you the option to scan a QR code on the device and connect through that, but after following all the prompts, the app searched for device before stopping with a message saying no device found. After trying again and again, resetting the device by removing and reinserting batteries, I finally managed to add this device manually using Bluetooth and selecting the detector through a list of available Bluetooth devices. Once I managed to add the device to my Wi-Fi network, I found the app very intuitive and informative. After testing it by shorting two metal contacts on the back of the device (by placing to metal objects on them), it sent me a notification through the app. All in all, this is a good device to have around the house, but Wi-Fi connectivity could definitely be improved.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Whoever owned my house before me did a night rough job installing the water heater and I was leaving for vacation. Seeing as how I don’t trust their handy work, I bought this thing to help monitor it. So far it seems to work as advertised. I can check the temperature in that area as well as receive alerts if it does flood in there. The peace of mind has been worth the buy.

I have a toilet in the house that tends to freeze, so this Kidde leak and freeze detector is the perfect little device that will warn me before I get a frozen pipe. The 2 things you'll need for the setup is your phone and a phillips screwdriver to remove the battery cover. It would have been nice if it came with the screwdriver. The detector is quite small and can fit in small areas. The design is quite sleek, so it's not an eyesore even if it's visible wherever you place it.

I like the device and I get the floor temperature also but the app is lacking, I want a report a few times a day it seems to communicate only once every 24 hours when normal, I would like more adjustments and latitude. Please improve the app and less advertisements!

Once it gets below 39° it won’t tell me what the temperature is. It goes into alarm repeatedly and cannot be silenced permanently remotely so now it’s making noise and bothering my neighbors because I can’t get to that house right away. .KiddeEngineers didn’t think this one through

i bought this for the app alarm and no matter what i did i could not get the device to connect to my wifi for hours. i continuously kept trying and it could not find the device even though it was right next to my phone and wifi. finally after it connected i tested it on a plate of water and worked instantly. but now i have a fear of the app not working. it does have a backup of working without the app still if the app fails which is good. it is a good product, would be 5 stars if the app connected easier. not sure if its just me or a common issue.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Very easy to install. works kinda like a fire detector. we live in the south so water is a bigger threat than freeze. it will be put to the test with this upcoming hurricane season. Hopefully it works like it should.

Device is excellent at detecting minute moisture across the two metal contacts, sounding built in chirp alarm, and sending a notification to my iPhone. However, the app is a piece of crap. Can’t see the WiFi network nor update it. There’s no reset button inside battery compartment nor on outside. Removing batteries does not seem to reset it. Model # 60WLDR-W
