Smelled upon opening

Great quality cod

Beware and be careful. We purchased this and the date still said it was good for another week but clearly this fish was rotten. I opened the package and the smell was terrible. My wife almost vomited. My mother is Japanese so I’ve been to some of the smelliest fish markets but I have never smelled anything this bad. It took a full day, a can of Lysol, to get the smell out of the house. My trust in the quality of fish from Sam’s may never be the same. I will continue to shop at Sam’s but will avoid the fresh seafood.

Stunk! Spoiled??

I’ve had a few purchases of the card where I left it in the refrigerator before freezing and it’s already turned sour so the date should be a little bit longer or shorter for a quick sale because Cod does turn Quickly I’m from the north and I enjoy northern Fish

Bought this thinking it would be incredible, it leaked in my fridge (the same day I bought it) which literally made my refrigerator smell for a month! I do not understand how “fresh fish” could smell so horrible. After that I just couldn’t possibly attempt to cook it with how bad it smelled. $32 in the trash. Threw it right out. Do not buy

Bought this 3 times. Frist time fishy smelling but better after rinsed off. Ate and tasted good. Second time, much more fishy smelling. Froze to return, and even frozen inside another plastic bag made freezer stink of fish. Tried one more time with over a week left till sell by date. Same experience as the first time. Will not buy again. Wish Sam's Club would get their vendor to fix the issue.

My wife and I tried the cod in a seafood stew over the winter and it was incredible. It is cod, so it does smell a bit fishy, but the taste was perfect. So we decided to smoke the fillets over charcoal and hickory last weekend to see how it would taste. The result was incredible. We simply placed the cod on the grill (over coals and hickory chips) and cooked each side for 5 minutes. The flavor was nice, but after the cod was allowed to cure overnight with the smoke, the cod developed an intense hickory flavor that has restaurant quality flavor. It's perfect for fish tacos or po'boys, with shredded lettuce, sliced tomato, dill pickles and a nice siracha aioli. This cod is now a weekly part of our diet. What a great discovery!

I have had cod straight from the bering sea, Gulf of Alaska, and Larsen's Bay. This was fishy and nasty tasting, which tells me it wasn't handled correctly. Still waiting for sam's to give me a refund. I bought on the 5th and cooked on the 6th. The warning sign should have been it's pungant fish smell when I opened the package.

This product is horrible. I picked this cod fish up hoping to make one of my favorite recipes, “Cod Almondine.” I purchased all my ingredients from Sams Club of course; I placed the two beautiful advertised “Cod Fish” in my cart along with more items I needed to pickup for restocking our refrigerator. I was so excited, my mouth was drizzling and heart pumping with exhilaration that I final was able to cook my dish after almost a year. I arrived home, cleaned my produce and put away my fruits, vegetables, proteins and fry goods. Now I was ready to prepare my wonderful entree until the unthinkable happened; I made this mistake and opened the package, that’s when my heart dropped to below my patella. Oh No, No, No! Why me, why today and why this beautiful pieces of our ecosystem was destroyed for nothing, it smelled like something from the sewerage. My entire home reeked with the smell of sewage, my heart weeped with despair. I had not prepared to cook my family nothing more than “Cod Almondine”, what was I gonna do, nothing was thawed out and by that time I was just trying to get the stench out of my house. So I did the next best thing we ordered out. I was totally distraught, I pride myself on preparing a daily meal for my beloved family. This was my first and very last time getting fresh cod from Sams Club. I would not recommend this item to my worst enemy, don’t do it, if you buy your entering this agreement at your own risk. Don’t do it, don’t do it, you will for sure error; I’m just saying.
