Check to be sure the hoses are lying flat. If the water still doesn't flow, lift the tank from the ice maker and raise it 4" to 5" until water starts to flow then, place the tank back in position. It is normal for the ice in the bin to melt. The Opal ice maker does not maintain the temperatures needed for keeping the ice frozen. The water from the melted ice is recycled, filtered and used to make new ice.

We’d like to assist with the issue you’re having with the Opal’s sound level. We suggest following the instructions in the manual regarding the schedule of running descaling and sanitizing cycles; going through these processes can often help with an issue. The manual can be viewed on our GE Appliances website when you look up the model number, go to the product’s page, and view the ‘Owner Support’ section. We also recommend only using distilled water in your Opal to help reduce the potential for mineral buildup. It’s important to note that distilled water is different from bottled water, reverse osmosis water, filtered water, or spring water. All of these other options contain varying levels of minerals that can build up in the unit and impede optimal operation. We suggest ensuring there’s at least 4” of clearance in the back, on both sides, and above the Opal to allow proper air flow. We recommend disconnecting the Opal from power for 3 to 4 hours as well, before reconnecting, to reset it. We'd like to assist with your Opal ice maker's squealing sound. When your machine starts to make a squealing sound, it's a sign that the unit has ice building up on the mechanisms. The unit needs to defrost, so that the ice can melt away from the mechanism. This process can take up to 45 minutes to complete. You can unplug the unit for 30 minutes to allow it to reset and plug it back in.
