[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have had this ice maker for 3 weeks and it randomly makes the most horrific screeching sound, like grinding gears. Ice is great if it just would stop with that sound. Think "Most annoying noise in the world sound on Dumb and Dumber"...

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have only owned for a short time, but WOW I'm in love. It seemed to take forever to do the initial set up. That is the only thing that took time. Ice production has been very timely. So much better than our last ice maker. My husband looked at me and said, "We should have bought this a long time ago." I agree.

Mainly the seepage of liquid every time you open the bin. Also the spraying of water all over the ice (causing it to melt) every time you get any amount of ice from the bin. Requires constant wiping off of area around the icemaker every time you open the bin.

I bought this in November of 2024. It has already given up. I took care of it, cleaned and descaled on scheduled according to the manual. Now it doesn’t make ice at all. It forever stays on that blue signal saying it needs water even when it’s full. I cleared the water lines and there’s no blockage. Apparently the pumps give out after a year to make people buy new machines

I’ve been addicted to eating Sonic ice for almost 20 years. I think I’ve single-handedly kept them in business with my frequent purchases of cups and bags of ice. Well, my husband just got me this beautiful machine for Christmas and I am head over heels! It’s sleek, not loud, and most importantly, I can chew away on this soft ice all day every day without making a Sonic run. It’s identical (if not better??) than all the best, softest, most chewable ice I’ve ever found. If you are an ice-eating addict, this machine is for you!

I owned this and the cleaning went from once a month to every week within three months time. I do not recommend! You will be better off buy a self cleaning ice machine. You can find small industrial ones that works a whole lot better and can be cheaper.

There are days when I think that this GE Opal ice machine is the best thing in the kitchen. The other days I just love the convenience of fresh, easily available ice. The size of the ice pieces is perfect for drinks or going into a blender. I purchased the one with the side tank and it definitely was the right decision. It is easier to fill the side tank. I use distilled water The only downside to this machine is the monthly cleaning. After a few times, it becomes a smooth process and you will want clean ice! The machine will prompt you when it is time to clean I have already recommended to friends
