I love my coffee and Peet’s is my favorite so far. It has the perfect taste and never burnt. Major Dickinson is like their house coffee and great. Not too strong but not weak either. I like my coffee strong sometimes so if you get the chance try Peet’s Sutmatra blenda, that’s my favorite.

I have been drinking Peets coffee since 1977, when I moved to Berkeley 46 years ago. Back when you had to ooze yourself up to the bar through a thick crowd of people waiting to order. No lines at the Berkeley store back then, just a large moving mass of people wanting that first morning cup of Peets coffee. I have made coffee in several ways: Chemex, expresso machines, French Press, and now the Aeropress, since it first came to market. I have actively disliked Major Dickason all these years for some reason. But, now I am not sure why I decided I don't like the blend, so this morning I decided I will try it again.

I have been very eager to find the ideal Peet's coffee to enjoy every morning in my French press. I have been buying Peet's decaf Sumatra for a while, as the best decaf bean I can find. But I haven't yet found a caffeinated Peet's that ranks with the best beans I have in the morning. For a while, my spouse has been bringing Major Dickason's blend back from the grocery store, as it is the one described as most closely matching my tastes -- dark roast, spicy, rich and complex. And yet it's just. . . bland. It's not very flavorful, certainly not spicy, and it feels thinner in my mouth than I prefer. I like a mouth-filling body and bold, spicy flavor, and this isn't it. It's shaken me a bit, because the descriptions that I have read of Major Dickason's online simply do not match what I have tasted after trying 3-4 bags now. It's not a bad or unpleasant coffee, just very underwhelming. Still looking for the Peet's bean that will suit my tastes.

I am 75 years old and have been drinking coffee for 55 of those years. I learned to drink it black in the Navy and still prefer it that way today. I started drinking Peet's Major Dickason's Blend in 2001 and have enjoyed a couple of cups every morning since. Keep up the good work. We live on the California coast about 90 miles south of the Oregon border. I wish we had a coffee shop nearby so I could pop in and grab a latte once in a while.

I love great coffee and like it brewed many ways: French press, cold brew, drip and espresso. What I love is that this blend is perfect no mater how you brew it. The French press is rich and flavorful and the crema in an espresso shot is the best I've used.... ever. This truly is the perfect cup of coffee.

Major Dickinson’s has been my favorite coffee for my lattes for over a decade now. The last several months the flavor has been off. It is not as bold, complex, and full bodied tasting. It is flatter tasting. That wonderful flavor is just gone! I bought several new bags, hoping it was a fluke. It wasn’t. I even pulled out an older, recently expired bag out if my cabinet that I had forgotten about. The older bag tasted like the Major Dickinson’s that I know and love, and drink every morning. With the older bag finished now, I no longer look forward to my latte(s) in the morning. Now I’m searching for new coffee beans. : (

Recently I bought a semi-automatic Gaggia machine and my boyfriend says to try this Mr. Dickenson's Blend..and I was like ok, he's a chef so makes sense. Holy guacamole! It's a pick-me-upper and the taste, well, it keeps me craving for more. No bitterness and it packs a punch..just what my supervisor ordered..alert and ready for work and the lasting goodness in my mouth makes me crave more and more.

Excellent tasting coffee which I found is used in several high end restaurants. Sam's Club mail order price is so far the cheapest I have found for 2 of the large size bags. I enjoy fresh grinding my beans, however the pre-ground Peets Major Dickason's Blend I have found to be excellent as well.

Please note I'm not good in describing the coffee taste, even when reading the description of spicy/complex...I'm not sure what they meant. So this review may not really helpful in term of description of the taste, rather it's personal taste. We drank quite a few of different type freshly roasted beans from Peet's since we prefer to make it ourselves with espresso machine at home whenever we feel like it throughout the day. The best I can describe Major Dickason is very smooth and palatable (for my personal taste), since I don't like too bitter or acidic taste ones. Another favorite of ours is Arabian Mocha Sanani - which I like the signature taste of the mocha on this (since this is on the pricier side, we bought once in a while as a treat).

Love this coffee but I mix it 50/50 with the Cafe Domingo and I get a coffee that has the perfect flavor for my taste. No matter what brewing method I use it just seems to taste perfect. I am not a coffee snob and could not tell you a top notch bean from an inferior one but I just am very picky about coffee tasting a certain way for me to enjoy drinking it. I have found with many experimentations that this particular mix works beautifully. I serve it to guests in a percolator and it goes over extremely well and they always want a second cup and I am asked what it is. either way, this is a great coffee and I have been drinking it for many years.
