Best charcoal overall

I have tried different charcoals but I continuously come back to Kingsford. It stays lit longer and works great for my grill and my smoker. It also requires less when I use it because of how hot it burns and how long it stays lit. It is my go to charcoal for barbecue season.

Grillout at least 5 days a week

Kingsford charcoal original and Kingsford lighter fluid are the best there is. I have tried a lot of differant charcoal, they all gave the food a weird taste. I grill out at least 5 days a week. I have made everything beef, lamb, duck, goose, pizza, fish you name it I have grilled it. Even here in central Wisconsin, I grill in all weather, It is the best.

Disappointing - bring back the classic briquettes

I have been a loyal Kingsford buyer for 25 years, but I have been very disappointed in the "improved" briquettes. The greater surface-to-mass ratio results in a coal that burns hotter for a much shorter period of time. If I was cooking burgers or hotdogs it would work okay, but for anything requiring long, low heat they just don't work. Beer-can chicken was difficult over the summer and the superbowl ribs finally had to be finished in the oven after the fire burned down twice (yes, the vents were open) and over-flamed once after extra coals were added. the new style gives the outdoor chef very poor heat control - it is like trying to build a roasting campfire using nothing but kindling.

I will only cook on Kingsford briquets.

I've used only Kingsford briquets for a very long time, probably 30 years or more. The product is great quality, with no variance between purchases. It lights easily, burns predictably, and makes great smoke. My cooks will often be 100 lb. pork chops, 10 to 16 Boston butts, 20 or more chicken halves, ribs by the case, or as many as 25 steaks. I really do not want to use any other brand.

Kingsford is the only charcoal.

I have grilled, cooked, barbecued, and smoked outdoors for years. I have used many different types of heat from gas to wood to coconut shells and have found that Kingsford Briquets are the best. It does light fast and burns long and does not make your food taste bad like a gas grill. I will only use Kingsford Original Briquets and nothing else.

LOOKING FOR ANOTHER BRAND!!!!!

After using Kingsford for 40 years, we are extremely disappointed in your"new and improved" formula. We used the briquettes for cast iron Dutch oven cooking. Sad to say we now use three times as many coals as we used to. Not worth the cost. Please bring back the old formula. We can no longer recommend your product as we have in the past.

Won't buy another brand!

I have to admit, I have bought discount charcoals in the past. I didn't think there was a difference in quality. I was wrong. The Kingsford lights so much easier, and heats faster with less fluid than cheaper brands. It makes grilling out so much easier and faster! The only brand I will buy now is Kingsford!

The only charcoal we will use.

My husband grills all year round, even in the winter here in Michigan. The only charcoal he will use is Kingsford, his favorite being Original. He refuses to use anything else. I bought cheaper brand one time, and he told me to either throw it away or use it myself. He was not going to grill until we had Kingsford again. Needless to say, I threw the cheaper stuff away and never made that mistake again. It is Kingsford or nothing at our house.

Terrible Performance and Taste

I bought this product a week ago, and have used it to grill fish, steak and squash. Each time it was more difficult to start, but once the fire was started, it created a lot more smoke than previous bags of Kingsford Original. It imparted to the food an unpleasant chemical taste. This charcoal is totally different from the Kingsford Original that was packaged in the bag with the "100th Anniversary" logo. It is the worst Kingsford product I have ever purchased!

QUIT MESSING WITH THE FORMULA!

I've been an avid backyard griller, using my Weber 22" kettle for over 10 years. I can say in that time, I've used primarily Kingsford Original. Last season I just finished up the last of the 20# bags purchased a couple years ago (I buy a lot). I could typically use 3 full chimney's worth before I needed to empty the ash collector on my grill. This year I started on the 19.5# Club bags I bought last year. You've changed something. Not only do I only get 2 full chimney's worth of ash before having to empty the ash collector, but it doesn't last as long. I also use the snake method when I slow smoke baby back ribs, and my snake, using exactly the same number of briquettes, doesn't last the full 6 hours anymore. I hope your shareholders are happy because I'm not.
