A Bit Dissappointed

I've been using Kingsford Briquettes for the past 45 years. This last batch I bought was double bags wrapped in plastic and the price was fantastic. I bought 20 units which came out to 40 bags. I've noticed the briquetts no longer have the small pieces of wood in them like they used to and the texture of the briquett is quite smooth, not coarse like they used to be. The big thing is that they just don't seem to last as long as they used to either. In the past, after grilling a steak, I would close up the grill and smother the coals to use again. Most times I could get a second grill out of the used coals by adding just a few new briquettes. I now find that I have to lower the steaks or chicken after about 25 minutes as the coals are already loosing their heat and a second batch of meat on the same coals takes forever to cook. Understand that now I use a fresh batch of coals for every grill. In addition, if I want the great flavor I used to get from Kingsford, now I have to purchase an additional bag of one of the flavored briquettes. Kingsford still outperforms (but not by much) any other brand I've tried, it's just that Kingsford doesn't seem to be as good as it used to be.

Great Everytime!

I have been buying Kingsford original for years and it has always been consistent in quality and performance. They flavor it imparts into grilled foods is uncomparable to other charcoals. I just wish the price wouldn't go up so much in the "off season"--winter.

40 Years of Kingsford

I have been using Kingsford for 40 years! So when I ordered my dream cooker there was no doubt what charcoal I would be using! I use your Original, Apple-wood and Hickory, I also use natural hickory, pecan and oak wood for a nice blend. I am and will always use Kingsford, just wish it would burn a little longer like back in the day.

Less smoke

My wife doesn't like it when I buy generic charcoal, It smokes way to much & burns fast. When I buy Kingsford I an never disappointed. They have consistent heat, less smoke when grilling with the wife or guests and last longer then any other brand that I have tried.

Never Let Me Down

I got a Pit Barrel Cooker two years ago and powered it by Kingsford Original Charcoal the burn has never let me down. When not using a wood chunks to smoke with just the charcoal alone imparts a great flavor to anything cooked. It always lights easily and ready to cook in a very short time. I look forward to many more cooks using Kingsford Charcoal.

Terrible charcoal. Don’t waste your money

The new version sucks. Go back to the true original version if you want my business. New version burns way to fast and it doesn’t smell good and the taste of meat is off. I always got Kingsford for grilling but no more. Now I got to go. Time to finish cooking my steaks on the George Forman

what happened

I have used kingsford for years and loved it . I don't understand what the company is doing now , the charcoal is thinner now and doesn't burn long at all . You guys really need to step it up, the cheap charcoal lasts longer than this stuff I am very disappointed

Always starts

Have tried many other types of charcoal, and half of them never ignite, or they burn unevenly. Kingsford is the only one I use, and even on hot humid Chicago days, it starts right up without having to put a ton of lighter fluid, turns nice and ashy evenly

Disappointed with last 2 bags

I've been a Kingsford user for nearly 20 years. In the past, my family and I have had good success with The Original charcoal but this years batch has been disappointing for some reason. I use a full Smoke Chimney and spread them out evenly just like every other year. The difference is the charcoal burns out too fast. We get approximately 10-15 minutes of 300 degree temps but it goes down to 190 degrees quickly. I make sure the dampers are adjusted properly. I thought there was a problem with the first bag and went to the store to get another. It happened again. After the cook, the briquettes are still solid but white. They used to crumble to ash. We enjoy using Kingsford but may try another brand.

If it isn't broke, don't fix it!

I seen all kinds of woods to burn for charcoal. Either these new longer burning or new shapes, or wood pellets. All these new kinds of charcoal are for marketing for extra profits! There is no need for these new styles. Kingsford does give you a variety of choices. But if you still to the gold standard, you won't be dissapointed! Regular Kingsford is what is used in our home at least the last 50 years! My only negative about this product is the price. Kingsfords Briquettes have gone up in price significantly within the last 10 years!
