Original

I think the original is still the best thing kingsford has going right now. Still don't understand how it is they can SHRINK the charcoal, SHRINK the size of the bag, Charge even more for it and expect us to be thrilled about it? The Mesquite and the Hickory are also okay but I would stay away from the one they call "Competition".... NOT GOOD!

The Best Choice...Kingsford

I only use Kingsford Original Charcoal! For me it is the fastest heating, longest lasting , evenest heat there is. Kingsford Charcoal makes cooking out a pleasure! Never have to worry if the coals are all lit, if they have enough heat. When I am ready ...my fire is ready. Kingsford coals the ONLY way to go.

What happened to Kingsford charcoal?

I've been using Kingsford brand for quite some time, however I have recently been very disappointed in it's quality as to heat output. At first I thought it was drawing moisture even though it was stored in a dry room and even inside additional plastic bags. This made no difference as the results were the same with several bags as this is how I purchased this product. In closing I will opt for a brand change in the future and no longer waste money on an inferior product!

Best Ever!

We've grilled several times this Spring and have already gone through two bags of this charcoal. It's been fantastic! We've had no difficulty lighting it or keeping it burning at all and it has cooked our chicken, hamburger and fish evenly. I don't think anyone could ask for a better, more dependable charcoal!

Sure Fire Grooves Mean More Charcoal For Same Results

I have been using Kingsford charcoal for 25 years or more. You made a change to the charcoal by reducing the size of the briquete with a K stamped in it.I have to use about 20% to 25% more to acheive the same results with the old charcoal.I am very disappointed with this new briquete.I see that it is good for Kingsford as you will sell alot more charcoal.I did love your product but I am going to try different brand now.Burns longer is not true at all.

Works great - when you know how

I bought this charcoal and at first was sadly disappointed. It seemed like it burned way to fast and too hot. Then I figured out that if I simply reduced the air flow, whether on the grill or smoker- it works great!!!! Unless I am fighting the wind, I use 1/2 as much charcoal as I used to for smoking. I did large event at our house and smoked 2 pork butts and then 2 briskets, using just short of 3 -16lb bags over a total of about 32 hours total cooking time. I will NEVER buy anything else.

Burns out as soon as they are ready

This is the first time I have used these in years. They burn out way too fast and they don't burn hot. THe whole point of charcoal is that it is supposed to burn hotter than gas. As soon as I take the Kingsford out of the charcoal starter, I can barely get the grill to 300 degrees. It's been the same thing over and over

Fast Burning!

I have been a Kingsford customer for the past 17 years. I have never been so disappointed in the quality of the Kingsford Original Charcoal that I have purchased for the past few years. I used to love the brand but lately, the charcoal that I have been purchasing seems to burn a whole lot faster than what it did a few years back. Although I will continue to purchase and recommend Kingsford Original Charcoal to my family and friends I hope that the quality improves as far as the burn time is concerned.

Its all I use

I have a weber smoker and weber grill that the only charcoal that has ever been in it is Kingsford Original. I use a chimney to start and shut the grill down after use and am able to get two cooking session out of each set of charcoal..I've tried others but always come back to the Original! Seeing their name on a NASCAR car is another bonus!

Disagree

I disagree with some of these reviews, I use Kingsford original charcoal all the time on my kettle grill, for grilling things from burgers to steaks and dog and sausages. I find it very easy to light in my chimney and find that it lights 98% of the time and is hot and ready in like 18 minutes. I once and only once tried a brand oak something and it was terrible that's the stuff that won't light or get hot. I threw away that red bag almost a whole bad and ran back out to buy Kingsford again. I will be a fan for life when it comes to charcoal briquet grilling.
