Got a large grill for a wedding gift and have been grilling non-stop for months. There's just about nothing you can't grill with Kingsford Original. Brats, patties, steaks, summer sausage stuffed with sauerkraut and even vegetables (corn on the cob, asparagus, shish kabobs) all taste great with good smokey flavor. Never had a problem lighting them and they've always been a great value. Low-priced and you can find a bag just about anywhere.

We are Looong time users of KIngsford Charcoal. This season we bought a 2x20 lb package as we usually do. We do a lot of dutch oven cooking and the number of coals you use is important. We find the new coals don't last as long, so they are messing up our recipes. We found an older bag in our camper, and compared. The old briquet was at least 1/3 larger than the new ones. We have also found they don't last as long in our kettle cooker. Please go to the old tried and true.back

I disagree with some of these reviews, I use Kingsford original charcoal all the time on my kettle grill, for grilling things from burgers to steaks and dog and sausages. I find it very easy to light in my chimney and find that it lights 98% of the time and is hot and ready in like 18 minutes. I once and only once tried a brand oak something and it was terrible that's the stuff that won't light or get hot. I threw away that red bag almost a whole bad and ran back out to buy Kingsford again. I will be a fan for life when it comes to charcoal briquet grilling.

I have noticed that while the new design may light faster it does not burn as long or as hot. I have had to increase the amount I use and cook longer hoping that the coals are still warm. I am still using but have begun to use some other brands( Sam's Club and Royal Oak) to see which is the best.

I've used Kingsford charcoal off and on thru the years sometimes substituting some other brand, usually the store brand. Since smoking turkeys and hams at Thanksgiving and Christmas and seeing the difference in how fast the Kingsford starts and then holds the heat has made me sold on Kingsford. So now I spend a little more $$$ and get Kingsford. I've recently purchased a Kingsford grill and the two go good togetherl.

In my family, I am considered "Queen of Barbeque" because I love to grill and I will grill in the rain, snow, doesn't matter. However, not only you're giving us less charcoal in you "big" bags, the quality has changed as well. I've seen time the fire last so long, that I'm pulling food out the freezer just so it can get that charred taste. Your charcoal burn less, which mean I have to start a new fire, and to add insult to injury, finish baking in the oven to make sure it's done. I've NEVER had to do this in the past. I stop buying store brand 30 years ago, because of not having to cook all day (and evening). Whatever was new & improved, NOT! You've taken the enjoyment out of grilling...

I bought this charcoal and at first was sadly disappointed. It seemed like it burned way to fast and too hot. Then I figured out that if I simply reduced the air flow, whether on the grill or smoker- it works great!!!! Unless I am fighting the wind, I use 1/2 as much charcoal as I used to for smoking. I did large event at our house and smoked 2 pork butts and then 2 briskets, using just short of 3 -16lb bags over a total of about 32 hours total cooking time. I will NEVER buy anything else.

Kingsford is one of the things that you need threw out the year Not only is it great for summer cook outs; it is all so a great back up in the dead of winter when storms come threw that put out the power and you have no gas stove to cook on during those times. Makes you the hit of the family when you can create hot food for them to eat...

Hi i bought 4 double bags 3 weeks ago and i noticed the charcoal burns differently . They burn faster and the are popping sparking . I really don't like that. I'm the only one the BBQs we BBQ at least 4-5 times a week. Go back to the old the old way. Please

I've tried the other brands. I thought I could save a little money. Big mistake. You get what you pay for, and Kingsford is the best. They light the best and burns the longest. No competition. My advice is to stock up on the 40 lb. twin pack when they go on sale for $9.99 at the big box home improvement stores.
