Have to change my review of a few weeks ago. This new stuff with the chalk like flacks is pretty bad. I cannot control the temperature. It starts too hot, so I adjust the dampers, then it gets too cool. I'm going to have to change to a different brand unless Kingsford goes back to the real "original". I have been using Kingsford exclusively for over 40 years.

really the only product i use. i cook 3-2-1 ribs, rib-eye, skirt steak, veggies , a bunch of other food. i use it on my oklahoma joe smoker, chargriller outlaw and a small portable chargriller. people saying that its not good , don't know what they are doing (now the product that i would say burns too fast is the charcoal with mesquite in it.- i only used it once)

I use this brand because my Dad always used Kingsford for family cookouts and it has become a family tradition with us. We have used it to cook Brisket all night and never have to worry about it not burning like we want it to. Great product that continue with our families for generations to come I am sure.

Have been wary of Kingsford because ingredients list is shady. “All natural” but no specifics about what is really in the briquettes. Bought this because no alternative available. Gave a distinct chemical taste to the chicken. Very not happy. Will not buy again. Do better, Kingsford.

I have been using Kingsford original for many years. Several times I have tried other brands only to go back to Kingsford. Recently I was smoking a pork butt for my neighbor and asked him to get some charcoal. He brought me some off brand and I politely told him that I didn't need it after all and promptly went to the store myself and bought 2 bags of Kingsford to do the job. The only downfall that I can find with the product is that I wish you would bring back the larger, longer lasting brickettes of yester year.

I have used your original charcoal since the age of nine and I'm 47 years old. Md Started me out on Kingsford. He swore by your brand and now I've started my own catering business and i swear by your brand to my employees as well. Keep up the good work and job well done.

I live in Seward, Alaska. When winter finally retreated (end of April), I noticed my container in which I store my last open bag of Kinsford Original Charcoal was filled to the top with water. My bag of charcoal was soaked and had been soaking most of the winter. Instead of discarding my charcoal, I spread it in the sun for several weeks. Today, July 2, 2011 I am grilling with the winter soaked charcoal. It started immediately and is burning hot as ever. NOW THAT IS EXCELLENT CHARCOAL.

Being from south Texas, we love our BBQ! Kingsford charcoal is always our go to for grilling in our household. It's quick to light with no fuss so we can get down to the important part.... cooking and eating! When you BBQ more than once a week like we do, Kingsford is the best choice

I live in Illinois and I never put my Weber away! I grill all year long. As a matter of fact, last weekend on 15 degree temps with snow I did a brisket low and slow using the "snake method". It was fabulous! I started the grill set up @ 7:30 a.m. Brrrrrrr! It was done at about 6 p.m. Happy Day! Dinner was fantastic! Long story short, I purchased 10 twenty pound bags of Kingsford Original in September 2014 and am on my second to last bag as of today. That's a lot of winter grilling. Kingsford never fails me, it is always consistent, always lights easily with my chimney and performs to perfection with even temperature and heating each and every time. Happy to see spring is close! I've been using Kingsford Charcoal for over 40 years now. Kingsford has always been the best and totally consistant until the last couple of years. First you shrank the coals so they didn't burn as long. Cooking indirectly I went from adding coals after an hour, to having to add coals after the first 40 minutes. It was just inconvienent, I adjusted my times was all. Now two years ago you changed the charcoal again. You made it a bit larger and a little denser. For grilling the charcoal is ok, but when cooking indirectly with the denser charcoal is a disaster. First I couldn't get the barbeque over 300 degrees. Next when I added charcoal after 40 minutes, the additional charcoal never lit. Well they burned maybe 1/8" and then went out. The barbeque just kept getting cooler and cooler and I had to take those beautiful pork spare ribs and give them to my wife to put into the oven. I was so disappointed I could barely eat one bite of those ribs. I guess I'm going to have to start searching for a new charcoal to use. I've always used Kingsford because of it's consistancy and quality. I'm very disappointed that such an all time great product ruined themselves like this. Kingsford once had the best charcoal out there, maybe someone in the company will listen and retool to make their charcoal back into the supurb quality product that it used to be.
