I have a dog who sheds profusely. When I read about the Roomba i3 associated with the fact that it is a pet hair vacuum, I knew this was a main factor in what I was looking for. There's no doubt this vacuum does just that. I'm so impressed how well this robot cleans every spec of dirt and hair from my floor. It will run its course, return to areas where it recognized to be more dirt than other areas. The self empty I'm so glad I have this... and it takes a long time before you have to replace a bag. Very compacted trash!!!

The self dump feature is great to have and hopefully will continue to progress. This has issues when it comes to stairs and requires too much attention and defets the purpose of having a robot vaccum. If I need to attened to it multiple times a cleaning I may as well just vaccum myself. It cleans in nice lines but is very random where it goes and does not seem to map the areas well enough to recognize where it has gone and where it has not cleaned.

Leaves a couple of spots totally. Very noisy and single rotary brush doesn't help. Absence of a "Turn Off" feature makes it unsuitable for homes with kids or curious pets. Kids keep turning it on and pets keep knocking it off the charging base thus discharging the vaccum.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have owned an older model roomba for years and while satisfied it was a chore to clean out the bin everyday. This new model with it's self cleaning bin is awesome. I have three large dogs and it helps keep the hair under control immensely. They changed the brushes also so that they don't clog as easily. There is a added expense of bags but it's worth it for not having to mess with it everyday. It ihas done a great job cleaning the floor and I'm extremely satisfied.

The Roomba i3 is a basic robotic vacuum with mostly entry level features with the exception of the self cleaning base. The software is lacking compared to higher end units but this isn't a higher end unit. The dual brush system is excellent; well built and easy to clean. Overall the unit is also designed and built very well. The software side, which I found lacking, would likely persuade me to purchase a higher end unit.

1 word of Caution-if you have a pet that is nervous, maybe don't run the robot when you're not home but your pet is. If the Robot comes into contact with "Pet Waste" the warranty is voided. So my dog is nervous around the robot and I mad the mistake of going to dinner the other night and being brilliant, thought that I'd run the bot for the first time with me out of the house. A few hours later; surprise, surprise. Luckily the robot stopped functioning after what appears to have been only a few minutes. Once I got the robot and house cleaned up, I proceeded to try to revive the robot. A few minutes later the robot is working but producing a wheel error. I did not want to admit the issue, so I just purchased a new right wheel assembly online and waited for it to arrive. The wheel assembly arrived and i replaced the original wheel with the new assembly and started the robot. Do my frustration the robot gave me the same error. At this point there was nothing to do but admit what happened to the iRobot customer service folks, which I promptly did. Upon calling and conveying the "Dog Poop" incident, which thanks to the customer service representative was renamed the "Pet Waste" incident, I heard the words regarding warranty, pet waste, and void. The rep asked me to hold the line for a moment so that they could see what they could do...The complementary robot is on the way. So a couple of points: The Customer Service is top notch, not just because they went out of there way to not just stop at the standard "blah, blah, blah voids the warranty, but they were extremely professional throughout. I actually wasn't upset when we reached the point of the void conversation, which is saying something as usually I'm mad by the time I reach a live body to discuss a service matter with with most company's customer support services. The Robot does an excellent job of collecting the dog hair and any thing else that one would normally sweep or vacuum up.

I'm surprised at the reviews because my rumba from day one learned my apartment goes from room to room hardware to area rugs to a carpet a bedroom with no problems I have two dogs gets all the pet hair I still have to sweep around my plants because it's too narrow on the sides to get to but that's it it's done a great job that had no problems from day one would definitely recommend and would definitely buy it again

There are many improvements over older versions of Roomba. As a pet owner the rubber brush was a major improvement as it does not get full of hair. My floors have never stayed so clean. The best thing is Roomba empties itself when it docks at its charging station, this process is a little loud. This robot has saved us so much time keeping our floors clean. It works well on both carpet and hard wood floors.

In a household with two dogs, I have resisted getting a robot vacuum under the assumption that it couldn't handle the volume of hair our dogs produce. I finally broke down when I learned that the i3 had a self-emptying feature. Overall, I'm pleased, but it's 4 out of 5 stars because I'd like it to perform better on carpet and run quieter. Pros -Perfect for daily maintenance -Cleans under furniture -Cleans the space systematically and thoroughly; rarely misses spots (the map in the app is such a nice feature!) -Never gets stuck and successfully avoids stairs -Dust bin bag lasts as long as expected (currently on week 4, and it seems like it'll go for another week or two) -Easy to clean. Dog hair gets stuck in the wheels and rollers, but it is easy to disassemble and clean it out every once in a while. Cons: -It takes a long time to clean. It cleans just 600 sq. ft. in about 3 hours (~2 hours of active cleaning, ~1 hour charge). -It's noisy. The dust bin emptying sounds like a loud shop vac, as other reviewers have mentioned, but at least that part is quick. I also find the vacuum itself to be pretty loud, which is a bummer considering it runs for 2 hours to clean the main level of our house. (We have wood laminate floors and high ceilings, which might be a factor.) -It doesn't handle carpet + dog hair very well (a medium-pile area rug or Berber carpet). It spits out tangles of dog hair on the carpet. -We receive errors messages about twice a week saying that the dust bin needs attention. We still haven't quite figured out why we're getting the messages, but it usually seems to sort itself out. It so much easier to keep the house clean with Herbert helping out during the week (I run our upright vacuum on the weekends for a deeper clean). I am pleasantly surprised by how well it has performed, despite its flaws. I would recommend for pet owners.

I know that these products are made to ease the task of cleaning, but it literally cut my cleaning time in half. My floor sees a lot of action due to having a little boy, two dogs, a hard working husband and a gravel driveway. I have an army of floor cleaning accessories that I used several times a day. I'd sweep first because the vacuum didn't pick up larger debris, then vacuum and then swiffer at least twice a day in heavy traffic areas. I set this up very easily and let it go. I have a mixture of hardwood, ceramic tile and vinyl flooring. It moved smoothly from one type to another and had no problem going over kitchen rugs. It picked up EVERYTHING up to the size of a Fruit Loop, which was sometimes picked up and sometimes punched aside. I highly recommend this product to cut the time of floor cleaning drastically.
