works really well but noisy

We've got 3 kids, a German shepherd and 2 cats... this Roomba works really well. This model is a real workhorse and gets everything picked up. The self-emptying feature seemed a bit extravagant on purchase but has been so wonderful and convenient. My only complaint is that it needs to run for a very long time (in 2-3 sessions, to recharge in between) to do our whole first floor, which isn't super small but also not really large either. So it ends up spending a lot of time running, which is kind of annoying because it's so loud and gets in the way when we're at home. If they created a silent Roomba, it would be a real Godsend. It's much too loud for me to run at night and the bin emptying noise would definitely wake everyone up. Normally I'd run this thing when we are all at work/school but with now some or all of us at home at some point or other due to the pandemic, the noise factor is more of a problem than I thought it would be. I still love it though. It keeps our floors really clean when run every other day or so.

Very thrilled

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have owned an older model roomba for years and while satisfied it was a chore to clean out the bin everyday. This new model with it's self cleaning bin is awesome. I have three large dogs and it helps keep the hair under control immensely. They changed the brushes also so that they don't clog as easily. There is a added expense of bags but it's worth it for not having to mess with it everyday. It ihas done a great job cleaning the floor and I'm extremely satisfied.

The product was easy to use immediately out of the box.

It cleans both my carpeted areas as well as hardwood and tile floors perfectly. I love that it returns to the base to empty the bin and recharge, so that I can schedule it to run during the day when I'm at work! It was so easy to keep up with the hair from 2 dogs and 3 cats in my house!

Pluses and Minuses

I liked that this vacuum eventually covered most of my home and did a decent job of vacuuming. I live in a split level that has multiple floors and I moved the Roomba around from floor to floor. Though this i3+ did occasionally miss crossing a threshold into a bathroom it generally, eventually, vacuumed most of the area including under beds and couches where it fit and which never normally are vacuumed. It is tolerably quiet for a vacuum except when emptying itself while in the dock which sounds like a jet plane revving its engines for takeoff which makes it unusable at night when sleeping. I would like the option to shut off the emptying cycle at night and let the vacuum do as much as it could until it was full or the battery low and return to the base and quietly recharge and wait for further instructions to finish the job when I was awake. I returned the i3+ for two main reasons. One is I have multiple Persian and machine made rugs with fringe and the Roomba pulled out or damaged the fringe on several of them. On one of my Persian rugs the Roomba grabbed a corner of the fringe and was literally unravelling the corner of the rug until I saw it and finally manually stopped the Roomba. The other reason I returned the i3+ is the remedial navigation system on the i3 Roombas. The i3 just bumps around doing some spots over and over again, even when they are just hard tile or wood floors not needing extra vacuuming time, and takes a very long time to do a big room(s). The i3 has to learn your room over and over again every time you use it, unlike its more expensive siblings which purportedly map and remember where all the furniture is in your rooms. This means you have to listen to the Roomba vacuum and empty itself much longer than necessary while it bumps around your place like a drunken sailor. The i3 does the jet engine emptying cycle every time it returns to the dock to charge even if it isn't full, which makes sense to save extra trips back to the dock to empty w

Thanks for taking time to share your review with us, though we're sorry to hear that the Roomba i3+ did not find a permanent place in your home. We understand your concerns as making sure the Roomba works best in your environment is a key part of finding the right Roomba for your home. Some features like Imprint Smart Mapping and Keep-Out-Zones are more handy in some homes over others and would lead towards a recommendation of a model like the Roomba i7+ or the s9+ where these features are available. Keep-Out-Zones would allow you to mark areas within the map that you do not wish the Robot to go, thus keeping it away from certain objects or places where you may wish to monitor it while running. We hope you have not given up on having a Roomba in your home and hope in the future you will give Roomba another chance. We're sure there is a model that would fit well and make you very happy. -iRobot Customer Care

Vacuums Really Well!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The iRobot® Roomba® i3+ Robot Vacuum does a great job vacuuming a room. It picks up everything in it's path and completes the entire room. It finds it's dock easily when finished and I love that it empties itself! It's my family's favorite addition to our household!

I love the vacuum

I rarely ever come back to give a review on a product, but I had to on this one. If you are on the fence about buying this i3+, let me give you some tips. We were unsure how well the self-emptying feature worked, we turn on Roomba twice a week, and 4 months later, we still haven't cleaned that bin once. We were unsure how well it would clean under furniture, it does a great job. Something that I learned quickly about Roomba was that it is very thorough. What I would recommend is for you to turn on Roomba when you leave the house. When you come back, he should be back at his charging station finished with the job. The last problem we had was if the Roomba i3+ could go to a different floor, and the answer is yes! Just place him somewhere on that floor and he will do his job and come back right where you put him. We thought that Roomba would assist us with cleaning, but it has taken it over, we haven't used our stick vacuum once since we got Roomba.

Ok, I'm not lazy!

My sister called me lazy because I bought the Roomba...lol. I don't care what she calls me, I love my Roomba! At first when I got it it was taking a very long time to clean our 2400sq foot home and I would get annoyed because I wanted to watch TV and here comes to Roomba. Well ever since the mapping was introduced, problem was solved. Now I set it up to go to certain locations twice a day for about 30 minutes. The only con is the noise when it cleans the bin, it's loud, but I don't really mind too much. Now to get the Roomba mop.

My cheaper model was better

We got the I3+ because we loved the idea of the self emptying bin. For awhile it worked great and we were so happy that the dog hair doesn't get caught in the rubber rollers. But now that we've had it for awhile, the vacuum no longer recognizes the base. It just rolls right over it. We've tried resetting it, unplugging it for a day then reconnect, even tried moving it to a new location. It will communicate the first time after it's plugged back in, then I get a notification saying my roomba is stuck. When I get home, it's stuck on its own base off the side. Then I have to manually push it on the base and empty the vacuum with my app. So my house never gets fully vacuumed anymore. I'm very disappointed considering the amount of money we paid to have a bigger better model. My first roomba never had a single issue. Probably won't buy again.

Hi Mocreed, we are really sorry to hear about the situation. This is definitely not the experience we want our iRobot family to have, and we'd love the opportunity to turn it around. Is it okay if you provide us with iRobot email in order to resolve the issue?

Impressive

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I love this product. It was super easy to set up and start charging. The app to download is very user friendly. I have a home with hardwood floors and some carpet. When I was ready it took off cleaning our large living room that has hardwood floors. It easily transitioned to the carpeted areas without missing a beat. We have dogs that shed like crazy and this product works great picking up all the dog fur. When it was full it parked itself back at its base to empty and clean the debris bin. I would recommend this to anyone that wants to cut down on their cleaning time.

Love it but...

This is our second iRobot, had 900+ for 2.5 years when hubby broke it. I replaced it with i3. But just like our first one it only connects to 2.4G WiFi and of course, we have 5G and no where could I find that listed until I was trying to connect it to WiFi. I've had this for several weeks and it is very chaotic still and we only have 1700 sq ft and one bedroom is closed off and it recharges 3 times every time. It definitely doesn't pick up like the old one, no kids or pets. It will run for 5-10 minutes then just quits for 2-3 seconds then resumes. Between it stopping periodically and recharging 3 times, it takes 6-7 hours to vacuum.

Hello Gabby! Thank you for your review! We certainly understand your expectations for the Roomba i3+ and we would love to provide some insight. The Roomba i3+ is a model that will clean a directed area for up to 75 minutes (on hard surfaces). What is Roomba doing going over the same spots? Roomba is registering Dirt Detect events using it's incredibly intelligent design. Roomba makes over 60 decisions a second! With more scheduled cleaning, Roomba will establish a baseline of clean and register fewer Dirt Detect events. At this point, Roomba should be able to clean more of your home on a single charge. When it comes to connectivity, we recommend reaching out to your internet provider for assistance. Adding a 2.4ghz signal is a simple option provided for most home environments. Thank you! -Sincerely, iRobot Customer Care
