VERRY DISAPPOINTED
I would recommend yes, thank you to anyone. There are a few instructions on how to operate it and I keep having problems because I don’t know what to do. I just used it and it went to auntie and a red light came on Blinken but it’s a hat like say I have no idea what’s going on without instructions. How is a person supposed to operate this machine. Paying the price that I had to pay for this Roomba it is very disappointing to find out that there is a little I can do when I have a problem. What are .
Unable to Smart Map with this model
Although the features listed include smart map - this feature is not available on this model at least in certain regions. After contacting IRobot, I learned that some i3 models may not include smart map and that they are working on the software, but unsure when this will be updated. IRobot suggested I purchase another model with mapping. So if you want the smart map do not purchase this model. It is unclear why Sam's Club is advertising as such and should update this information on the website.
The worst vacuum , fails to clean
I bought this vacuum 4 days ago, I have run it almost continuously ( except for when it recharges itself, and at night because it is too noisy for sleep). It has picked up - at the most -2 tablespoons of dirt for 4 very large large carpeted rooms and it’s been about 2 months since I have vacuumed up there. Then I vacuumed with my dyson stick vacuum where the roomba had “cleaned”. I had to empty the stick vacuum 4 times- over a quart of dust and dirt! I remember my kids had a little toy vacuum once. It worked better than the roomba- and it cost 1/10 as much!
Life and back saver!
I have the 960 and this one so I have one on both floors. They are both wonderful helpers and get more dust up than any vacuum including the most expensive. I have purposely ran the upright sweeper just after iRobot was done hardly anything came up off the carpets. I have ran upright sweepers before then went back over the area and always continued to get more junk out of the carpets. These do an excellent job on hardwood floors also but this one is able to get over area carpet rugs better than the 960. And this one cleans itself! Amazing job too!! They will not work well with pet hair I don’t think maybe if you ran it everyday or two? I don’t have pets but the 960 does better on getting my hair up in the bathroom. However it has been discontinued. I do clean them out thoroughly after every use but I did the uprights also. And you do have to get things picked up that they could knock over or that would damage them if sucked up. I highly recommend this iRobot . I am however OCD when it comes to cleanliness! Honestly I clean less often hardly get any dust! Love my iRobots!!
Not worth the price
At first I thought this was really cool and did a good job. Marketed to be great for pets. It’s anything but. It does a very good job on hard floors other than it doesn’t really ever seem to get all areas but I’m not sure it had long enough to map correctly. Hard floors is where it ends, as soon as it hits carpet or a transition stop from wood to tile it leaves a pile of dog hair. Carpet it leaves clumps of dog hair every 2 feet. Not the performance I’d expect from a $400 machine.
We love it
My husband bought this for us over 9 months ago and I have been surprised that I actually like it! It works much better than I expected. It was easy to install the app on our phones to control the unit. We also have the Amazon Echo which can control the unit. So easy to tell her to send the Roomba out to start cleaning or to pause if necessary.. You can have it clean one area or the whole floor. You can have it do an extra thorough cleaning although it will have to return to the base to charge for a while. We have a pretty large first floor that is mostly an open floor plan. The main areas have hardwood floors, ceramic tile, vinyl planking & area rugs. The master BR has wall-to-wall carpeting. The Roomba has no trouble going from one to the next. The biggest problems we have had is that although the robot is fairly quiet when operating it is extremely loud when it returns to the base and empties itself. Very, very loud -- but it only lasts for perhaps a half a minute so I can live with that. Our other problem is that we have two rocker/swivel/recliner chairs in the LR area that have a circular metal base. The robot is getting better about it (seems to be learning?) but it often gets stuck trying to clean under the chairs. But it does seem to be able to sense when an area needs a little more attention and will go back several times. It is also quite good at getting into corners and under and around things like the kitchen chairs. A tip: if either you or your pets have long hair check your the ends of your "brushes". The brushes themselves seem to be made of something like silicon and do not clog easily. But I found rings of compressed hair on the ends when I was cleaning the unit. The brushes are pretty easy to pop in and out and it only takes a few seconds to clean it out. Like any appliance keeping up with the maintenance keeps it working better. I have severe back problems that cause a lot of pain if I make certain movements. Pushing and pulling a heavy vacuum or even using a broom is quite painful. So this little robot has been a life-saver for me. Keep an eye out for the instant savings or shocking value offers. We were able to purchase this model (iRobot Roomba i3+ 3556) on sale for under $400 at Sam's Club which was less than some of the lower-end models. For us it has definitely been worth it.
Does a Great Job
I purchased this at 11 pm CDT on the day it went on sale. This is my 3rd Roomba over the years. I gave my last one to my son a couple of years ago because it scared Oreo, my Pitbull. I still have Oreo and she’s still not a fan, but we go Into a different room than the one Doris is cleaning and that seems to work for her. What works for me is this Roomba. I have a Golden Retriever named GiGi who is a puppy mill momma living her best life now and shedding all over my house. Plus I have a horse hair Sharpei named Wrinkles. Doris cleans up ALL of their fur with ease. I generally only have Doris clean one room at a time as she needs a bin empty after each room. Does she get confused or lost sometimes? Yes, but I haven’t let her completely map out my floor plan, so that’s on me. I don’t mind getting involved as I’m not letting her run unattended due to her scaring my girls. LOL. My floors are CLEAN after she finishes and I’m happy. Totally recommend this as I have heavy duty hair/fur here and Doris handles it with ease.
FANTASTIC! 3 months and counting!
I have a German Shepherd mix that — because of a short coat — sheds like CRAZY. This specific model is marketed as being superior for pet hair & dander and I can’t BELIEVE how much cleaner my hardwood looks! Even after I swept to compare, it did a better job!
Can't find the charger base anymore
This worked great for 6 months, but then would struggle to find the charger base. i have to carefully and manually place the vacuum on the charger base to charge the vacuum now. sometimes this works, but often it doesn't. very disappointing. when the vacuum works, it cleans well. But since it often won't take a charge, i wish i hadn't purchased it.
