I've been using this toothpaste for years and, unlike many other reviewers, I actually like the taste. Unfortunately in the past year or so, my lips and surrounding skin have been getting raw and painful. It took me a while to figure out what was going on, but as soon as I switched to a different toothpaste my issues cleared up. I recently gave this toothpaste another try, juuust in case, and unfortunately my skin became raw again after just a few days. Shame because it does a great job whitening, but it's not worth the other side effects. I'm leaving a review here in hopes that A&H will take a look at their formula—seems like a lot of folks are having the same skin reaction as me.

Arm & Hammer, Advance White I experienced an allergic reaction swollen lips, gums, face, tongue and throat. Unsure which ingredient causes it, but I am required to be seen by a doctor. If no allergic reactions I believe this would have been a good choice as I could see my teeth were whiting.

Awesome toothpaste don’t listen to any of the negative reviews, this is the best of the best. Those whining about it being dangerous and all that nonsense probably use too much or brush the wrong way.

It works great on keeping your teeth white. But completely burned the inside of my lips, lip itself is constantly peeling and the side my mouth hurts. My mouth is always completely dried.

I’m suffering for a week with pain in my lips, tongue, gums and mouth after using the Advanced White toothpaste for two days. I looked online and read about other consumers having the same experience. This is not a safe toothpaste.

Used this product for a week and developed raw sensitive lips. Have been using vaseline for the last four days to heal them but still very raw. Do not recommend this product. Have never had this reaction before.

Gave me allergies when I used My lips swollen immediately and my tongue it was horrible It looks like I put botox , I was going to the hospital but I read that you can rinse a lot of times with salt and warm water I wouldn’t recommend it

Used my first tube and loved the results, though the taste was not great. Now I'm on a second tube and my lips are burning and cracked and extremely painful. Not sure if they changed something, but it's awful.

I regularly use this toothpaste as it is vegan, i think it’s very effective but the latest tube i bought has the same size packaging but only holds 75g of toothpaste unlike the previous tube which held 125g i think if the amount of toothpaste is reduced then consider the planet and also reduce the plastic packaging !!!

I bought Advance White over my usual brand to see if it could boost the whiteness of my teeth. I used it for the first time yesterday morning. After dinner, I started feeling areas of irritation in my mouth, mostly to the inside of my lower lip. The feeling worsened over the next few hours, as both lips started swelling. At first, I thought it was an allergic reaction to something I ate, but there was nothing new in my diet. As the issue worsened, I went to the mirror. My lips were visibly swollen and I had what appeared to be burns around the outside of them with the lower lip being worse than the upper. I immediately realized it was the toothpaste. I looked at the label and read the warning about discontinuing use if irritation occurred. I applied some healing ointment around the outside of my mouth. This morning the swelling has gone down somewhat, but during the night, my gums became sore around all of my teeth, and the corners of my lips are cracked. This is quite an uncomfortable situation! In using the website to make contact with Church and Dwight Co. Inc, today, I see that others have had similar experiences. How disappointing!
