I used this toothpaste for the first time and took a few days before I realized what was causing my pain in my mouth. The inside of my cheeks were raw feeling, lips extremely dry and irritated. I had welps inside my cheeks and my gum were red. I don't recommend this toothpaste at all it has caused me a lot of pain and discomfort

I was influenced to buy this by someone who said it really worked to whiten teeth. I had no issues for the first few weeks, other than the unappealing salty taste. Then I woke up one morning with swollen lips. I didn't realize it was caused by the toothpaste so I continued using for a few days while trying to figure out what was happening. By this point I had lacerations on the inside of my lips and mouth and my tongue was inflamed. I was doing research on products I was using and found the reviews of this toothpaste. I switched and my condition improved greatly within 3 days. I would caution anyone against using this. It's far too abrasive on soft tissue. I am so relieved I figured out before it did lasting damage.

I’ve been having a similar experience to some of the other comments. I’ve had a terrible reaction to this toothpaste. It has made my lips horribly swollen and the inside of my mouth very sore. Unfortunately there seems to be something in this that is causing an issue. I’ve used this toothpaste in the past without issue so maybe the formula has changed?

I started using this toothpaste a few days ago and suddenly I wake up to an incredibly swollen and painful mouth. It feels like the entire inside of my mouth, gums, and lips were burned by hot food. It hurts to stretch my tongue, or move my cheeks against my gums at all (even to smile or talk). Eating anything is excruciating (especially anything warm or acidic). Even WATER hurts! I like Colgate baking soda and peroxide toothpaste, so I took a chance on A&H brand this time and bought a FOUR PACK from Amazon. I couldn't even make it through 4 days on it! What am I supposed to do with the rest of these? Can I exchange them for a regular toothpaste? This is terrible.

Evidently Arm & Hammer has changed their whitening toothpaste along with the packaging. Frankly, the new version is not nearly as good and has a terrible taste compared to the older version. I wish I could still find the older version as I would stock up!

This stuff causes chemical burns on your bottom lip. I used it once. Toothpaste was on my bottom lip for maybe 2 minutes. The burn started immediately. I rinsed it off. All day my lip started hurting more and more and the skin got tighter and tighter. Now at the end of the day there are tiny bubbles along my lip line and a crust line forming. I'm having to use Vaseline and antibiotic ointment just to keep the pain at bay. This stuff SHOULD NOT be available on the market. It's CAUSTIC.

Within a few days of using this I noticed my mouth was raw and burning. At first I didn't connect it to the toothpaste. I kept rinsing with warm salt water and it did not go away. I could hardly swallow and it hurt to brush my teeth so I stopped brushing. Then lo and behold the irritation stopped and it went away. I googled the reviews for it and found MANY people with the same issues. I called the manufacturer and they took my information. I asked them to pull the product since it was obviously affecting so many others. They were very nice, but they are still selling this product and I am still seeing these same complaints. While I always trusted A%26H for my household needs, I can no longer trust them for personal products and I'm actually weary of anything I purchase from them now.

Been using A&H whiting for the past week, after seeing it being recommended by a dentist. I noticed by lips tingled when using it. A few days later, I woke up to what could only be described as inflammation, cracking, and.severe chemical burns on on my lips. See attached photos -- it's as painful as it looks. Obviously this does not happen to everyone -- but if you use this product please know that this COULD happen to you to, and please stop using if you feel any tingling on your lips.

I've been using this toothpaste for years and, unlike many other reviewers, I actually like the taste. Unfortunately in the past year or so, my lips and surrounding skin have been getting raw and painful. It took me a while to figure out what was going on, but as soon as I switched to a different toothpaste my issues cleared up. I recently gave this toothpaste another try, juuust in case, and unfortunately my skin became raw again after just a few days. Shame because it does a great job whitening, but it's not worth the other side effects. I'm leaving a review here in hopes that A&H will take a look at their formula—seems like a lot of folks are having the same skin reaction as me.

Arm & Hammer, Advance White I experienced an allergic reaction swollen lips, gums, face, tongue and throat. Unsure which ingredient causes it, but I am required to be seen by a doctor. If no allergic reactions I believe this would have been a good choice as I could see my teeth were whiting.
