I was skeptical because we have four cats and I thought an unscented litter would be no match for them. However, my husband has been unhappy with some of the extremely scented litters we have tried. He says the scent is just too strong. So we thought we would try this for a change. It worked very well! There was no odor problem and it clumped beautifully. I think we may have found our new litter!

I'll be honest: this is about me more than them. I'm super sensitive to synthetic fragrances. After switching to the unscented variety, not only is there less smell coming from the cat boxes but less perfumed dust all over the house. My senior cats aren't good about covering up their business so there's going to be an odor anyway -- Febreze would just add to it. I still find places where the old Fresh Step dust had settled, like closet shelves...literally the whole house smelled like a litterbox before this version came out.

My husband is very sensitive to cat litter dust and the previous brand we used created a lot of it. A friend recommended Fresh Step Ultra Unscented to us and said she found it to have very low dust and it clumped very well. Man was she right. This litter produces very little dust which has made my husband very happy. It also the clumping ability is pure magic. Seriously, I don't have to worry about pieces of litter falling through the scoop. Everything stays in one piece. Fresh Step you have found a customer for life.

I’ve used Fresh Step for years, but the recent formula change is a dealbreaker. The litter is now darker, way dustier, and my cats track it all over the house. Clumps fall apart more easily, and the whole room smells like dust. Whatever “improvements” were made, they’ve made it worse in every way. Really disappointed — time to find a new brand.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have been buying the unscented litter for a short time and the cats seem to be feeling better. I didn't realize the scented litter may have been bothering them. I will only purchase the unscented litter now!!!

I used another well known brand for years but the dust finally got to me, and our litter box is in the garage! While this is unscented, I still detect a very, very mild minty scent which is very pleasant. It clumps great and doesn't create a clay mess to scrape off the litter box. For my two cats I don't need to wash and change out the litter for two weeks (I do add extra occasionally).

For some reason, unscented litter is becoming harder to find even though it is safer for cats. Scented litter is full of chemicals that can harm a cat's health. And, cats don't like those odors. I am glad that Fresh Step still offers more than one unscented clumping litter.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] We first bought another unscented cat litter only to find out it didn't do good with our cat or myself with allergies. It still had a fragrance. With Fresh Step Ultra Unscented there is no scent what so ever.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] We have bought Fresh Step before but it had been a while as we had been using a cheap litter that was a bit easier on the wallet. And I probably wouldn't mind purchasing Fresh Step again despite less expensive options, though my one big complaint is it's pretty dusty. I do like the unscented one, the scented litters bother my allergies (and not just this brand), I just wish it wasn't so dusty.

I bought this product because my cat was diagnosed with asthma and I needed something that was less dusty and unscented. When I buy a product that says ultra unscented I expect that to mean it has no scent. And yet this litter has a distinct perfume odor. I was buying a cheaper brand of litter but gave this a try and am very disappointed. It seems to be affecting my cats asthma more because of the scent. I don't understand how an unscented cat litter can have a scent of perfume unless they put the wrong product in the packaging. Plus the clumping seems more like cement and is harder to scoop from the box even after waiting an hour or two after cat uses box.
