[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Freshstep is my favorite litter. Always clumps well, better than any others I've tried. Hoped this was less smelly than others but still has strong smell. Not that unpleasant but can always tell when Toby walks in room where he just came from.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] We’ve been using Fresh Step for over 20 years. Tried others and always come back. Works great. Presently have 2 cats with 2 boxes. Clean then 2-3x week. Have had up to 4 cats with 3 boxes and have always been happy. Box is located in basement. Have had it in small alcove off living room and smell was never an issue; moved to basement when curious dog joined the household. We use two mats and still get some liter outside the boxes and tracked about 4-5 feet away. We use unscented because of cats strong noses.

I find this to be leagues more effective than Simply Unscented, which makes a big difference when you have 2+ cats. My mom is both allergic to perfumes and cats, so having actually odor reduction in combination with the lack of perfume was a huge plus when I needed to stay with her, avec felines :)

I've been a loyal Fresh Step clumping cat litter mom for many, many years and I have always been very happy with the product, until my last purchase. What ever Fresh Step changed now makes this the absolute worse! The clumps are sticking to the sides and bottom of the box, and I keep at least 4 inches of litter in each of my 7 boxes! When you scrap the clump up it breaks apart leaving tons of little pieces everywhere, leaving what looks like a dirty box. My six cats are very finicky about their boxes and litter and all have now started to roam from box to box looking for one that is "clean" with no left over clumps from the previous visitor. I typically clean the boxes 3 times a day ( you have to stay on top of it with six cats!) but now I'm constantly have to scoop to try to get to it before it cements to the sides or bottom of the box and endlessly trying to get all the small bits that broke off up out of the box. TERRIBLE!! Go back to what you guys were doing before because this change is not a good one!!

I've used this brand and product for years (10+ years) and recommended it to new cat parents, but something has changed in the formula. Its now no longer free from fragrance, the product is scented and has a strong scent. The formula has definitely changed and is now unusable. Its not what it says on the box, find another brand!

I have been using Fresh Step unscented for years. My local store was out of the unscented so I tried the one with Fabreeze. The scented litter left an odor on her paws which means the chemicals were on her paws as well. That did not sit well with me so I will only use the unscented from now on.

This is NOT unscented. It is strongly scented with a perfume smell. I bought several boxes and filled my cat's little boxes. I thought surely just one box was mislabeled but no, all the boxes. This needs to be recalled. It is still on the shelf at my Ingles grocery. DO NOT BUY. I now see that consumers are noticing. I have bought another unscented brand and tomorrow will completely clean out the boxes of the Fresh Step UNSCENTED.

This litter was the best. Now it is the worst. It has a smell; it is way too fine, which adds dust and tracking; and it does not last half as long as original. My cat hates it and so do I. I also used this because the 4 pack is easy to break up and carry individually. Sure wish you would fix it! I just ordered Dr Elsey's.

For people who don't feel the need for scented litter or have perfume allergies, this is a must... the clumping is great and it's hypoallergenic. I used this when I was abroad and it was the only non-clay litter... I paid double for it and it was still so worth it. It doesn't have the same odor-trapping capacity of some scented ones, in my opinion, but mixing in crystals would probably do the trick.

I bought this for my 4 month old kitten and he loves it! I like it even more. There is no smell (other brands cause the poop smell to waft throughout the room) and minimal tracking. It's easy to scoop and no issues at all! Clumping works like a charm. Good things all around.
