If I could give 0 I would. My cat has a chronic respiratory thing and he’s been getting worse. The formula changed and it’s extremely dusty and no longer clumps but makes a sludgey pastey type pile of urine. I wish I found out sooner because I get it on auto ship through a company and first started using the new formula. I’ve been a customer probably for a decade. I will be searching for a new litter.

This is probably the best litter on the market. Excellent clumping, keeping the litter cleaner longer. Best odor control of any litter. Activated charcoal has been shown in numerous studies to be the most effective odor control material. My cats really aren't picky about the litter they use but I buy this litter because it makes my life easier and more pleasant. In a multi-cat household controlling litter box odors can be challenging. This litter makes it not so challenging. The only thing I would change is how the box opens. It can be difficult to get open at times. The perforation isn't always very good. Sometimes I use a box knife.

HATE that those scented ones announce ...you have a cat.! also cats like to dig first, and it has weight for them to do so. if i had that light weight one, they would dig till container is emptied. this one is JUST RIGHT.

The company changed the formula. I just spoke to a Customer Representative who attempted to insult my intelligence by saying they had not changed the formula. I can see the color change, the texture change, the decreased clumping and the cement gummy aspects of the “new formula” plus two of my cats are now experiencing some respiratory issues. I am buying new litter to find a permanent replacement litter brand now.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Low on dust, as advertised. Also does seem to have tighter clumps. Cats track it about the same. Had a faint smell of fragrance when first stirred up but it faded quickly. Cats seem to like it. Hard to find around here, but worth the hunt.

For people who don't feel the need for scented litter or have perfume allergies, this is a must... the clumping is great and it's hypoallergenic. I used this when I was abroad and it was the only non-clay litter... I paid double for it and it was still so worth it. It doesn't have the same odor-trapping capacity of some scented ones, in my opinion, but mixing in crystals would probably do the trick.

I keep trying different versions of Fresh Step because I have three cats and hate the dust and cat prints everywhere. Oders I knew would be there so I have tried the Hawaii scent which I as the person liked, but it caused a little problem with my kittens paws. The charcoal in this kitty litter seems to have done the trick. No smell, no problems on the paws, and still no Oder. Thanks again Fresh Step

I used your "unscented clumping" in the 42lb package for years 17 yrs as when I initially bought litter that was not unscented I got sores in my nose. I immediately switched to your then "unscented' and the problem stopped immediately, the cat passed at 17rs old on 1/3/21, hence no more kitty litter was purchased. One week ago I rehomed a cat from a family member and we both purchased a 42lb package of your "simply unscented" and there is definitely a smell/scent as soon as you open the package, the cat carries the scent after using the litter box, and the sores have begun again in my nose!! A product that states "simply unscented" should be UNSCENTED!! IF I KNEW THAT I WOULD HAVE AN ISSUE FINDING UNSCENTED LITTER I WOULD HAVE NOT TAKEN THE CAT AS I DO NOT NEED HEALTH CONCERNS AND THEY WOULD HAVE FOUND ANOTHER HOME FOR THE CAT.

Our two cats love Fresh Step Ultra and we never smell any odor. They jumped right in the first time I set up the box. Everything is really easy to scoop because it clumps so tightly. This is the first clay litter we have tried. We had used a flushable litter with our prior cats, but we now live in a home with a septic system. I buy the small size because it's easier to lift.

I've been using this litter for 2 and a half years now and I love it! I keep my litterbox in the bathroom attached to my bedroom and the litter I had been using didn't keep the smell from wafting into my room. I tried various brands and scented litter, but nothing compared to this. And it really does keep it from smelling awful for 10 days! Not that you should let your litterbox go that long without being scooped, but if you're forgetful and go a few days without scooping the smell isn't bad.
