Easy to apply

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This product was very easy to apply. Germination was very good. Guessing > 90%. Used in both full sun and a shady area under a tree and both came out very nice. Again just writing words to fill out the mandatory word count. Very annoying.

Not worth the money

I purchased this from my local hardware store in early spring this year and regret wasting my money. I had a section of the lawn that I need to reseed and decided to spend the extra money on this product rather than using the usual grass seed I use. I raked the section, watered the ground and applied the product as instructed. I then watered again to allow the mulch to absorb th water. I continued to water for the next couple of weeks, hoping I would have a great stand of grass by the end of spring. Well, it is now the end of May and it looks as if I did very little. I am not sure if there was any grass seed in the container. I have very little grass in the section that it was applied and I will now have to reseed this fall. I am extremely disappointed in this product. For the price of this product, I was hoping for a nice stand of grass. Instead I got a few blades and the rest is still dirt. Do not waste your money.

We are sorry to hear that this product did not yield as much new grass as you had anticipated. It is frustrating to put the effort into seeding with only minimal results. Temperature plays a major role in all seeding endeavors. For Cool Season Grasses (Bluegrass, Ryegrass, and Fescue) Soil temperatures must be at least 55 degrees (+12.7 Celsius) for grass seed to germinate. The warmer the soil, the faster the germination. This generally requires daytime temperatures consistently in the 65+ degrees (18.3 Celsius) range. We want you to be confident in our products, this is why we offer a product guarantee. Not one blade of grass grown

Bought a 25lb bag of this pricey seed mix in mid March, followed the instructions to a T, watered quite well, had sunlight, never washed away, and it's now mid May and not one freakin' blade of grass has grown. Do NOT recommend. Will be seeking a refund with their guarantee.

We're sorry to read about your disappointment with Scotts EZ Seed for Tall Fescue Lawns and appreciate your feedback.Different grasses germinate at different times. Germination times on label are based upon the grass type in the bag that will germinate the quickest. For Cool Season Grasses (Bluegrass, Ryegrass, and Fescue) Soil temperatures must be at least 55 degrees (+12.7 Celsius) for grass seed to germinate. Warm season grasses (Bermudagrass, Centipede and Zoysia), which germinates in early summer, requires soil temperatures between 75 - 90 degrees (24 - 32 Celsius). The warmer the soil, the faster the germination. This generally requires daytime temperatures consistently in the 65+ degrees (18.3 Celsius) range for cool season grasses, and 80+ (27+ Celsius) for warm season grasses. In the spring it takes a lot of consistent warm temperatures to warm up the soil, especially in the northern states. Cool night-time temperatures and fluctuating temperatures will slow germination. Cold weather will delay germination but will not hurt the seed. We recommend watering 1-2 times per day to keep the seeds moist, until seed germinates. Then, we recommend watering about 1-1 1/2" per week as needed. Both excessive moisture and not enough moisture can inhibit seed germination. Weed control used prior to seeding such as a Crabgrass Preventer will prevent seed from germinating. Weed control product used on new seedlings - such as Turf Builder Weed & Feed or Ortho Weed-B-Gon (Killex in Canada) will kill seedlings when they first germinate. We want you to be confident in our products. For this reason, we offer a product guarantee to our consumers. At your earliest convenience, please reach out to us at 888-270-3714 if we can further assist.

So easy to use and immediate results

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I was simply amazed at the effectiveness and ease of use of this product. I had a few troubled spots in my yard both from my dog and also some areas that I have never been able to get grass to grow. This product is so easy to use. Your directions were very easy to follow and it was amazing to see the quick results. The grass came in very quick and it looks great. Now those areas look better then the rest of my yard. A great product!!!

So easy to use

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I tried the patch control on spots around my yard. Unfortunately a couple days later we had temperatures in the 90’s. Hard to keep the seed moist. Then temperatures dropped to normal so tried again. So far so good. Little blades are appearing.

High quality seed

I used this product to fill in any area about 10 ft. by 8 ft. and it worked great. When I purchased the product, I even weighed the seed to see how close it came to what was listed on the container and found that Scott's put in almost an extra full pound of seed "above" what was listed on the plastic container. Thanks Scotts! I will use this product again in the future.

ez seed grass seed sun and shade

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I used Scotts ez seed grass seed in a spot where there used to be a swimming pool. Much of the terrain left behind was rocks, dirt, sand and concrete, and it grew on top like it claimed it would. It filled it in very well I also used it to fill in spots that were caused by damage caused by a lawn mower that should have been retired many years before with broken wheel and height adjuster that caused sever burning of the lawn. It repaired and filled those spots real well. Scotts ez seed is the only grass seed I will ever use It includes a quality grade grass seed and a very excellent grade fertilizer I like that the seed and fertilizer change colors so you know when to irrigate I also like the fact it can grow on rocks, concrete, dirt and it eliminates prep work on the base soil

Worst grass product

I've used a lot of grass seed in my life and this one was a massive disappointment. After a few attempts to get some green chutes to grown i ended up with brown patches all over my lawn. The soil seems to have been damaged by whatever chemicals are in this product.
